I’m learning a lot from watching your videos. I’ve had my Deus 2 now for almost 2 months. As you said, the field is the real test and it’s also the real teacher along with putting the hours in on the machine. That’s how I learned my other detectors, LOTS of Hours! Thanks!

These are the best target calls I've watched you make! Impressive dude! I suspect in the future that there will be a select few Manticore users who will master the 2D Target Trace and will be making good target calls. The target guess will sound some thing like this, ring pull, beaver tail, pull tab, crown cap, can slaw, foil, zipper pull, eraser head, stinken Lincoln, rivet, nail, pop can, sprinkler head. LOL 😆😆😆

That target trace is just a gimmick. Metal detecting is a tonal hobby. I have the Whites V3i and know it very well. Its graph imaging is the most reliable out of any hobby detector.

@@PaystreakSuperfreak and you learned that V3i! That and the beep machines have taught you well! It is obvious you learned the V3i! I seen you drag it out after not having turned it on for a long time! Quitters never win! You did not quit!

@@PaystreakSuperfreak I believe that my cousin has the Whites V3i too. I wish that was the modern day Manticore. We’re going backwards. With the Deus you can hear the audio smear, commingled artifacts, clipping and other things? That tell you what might be going on in the ground. Minelab doesn't have nuanced audio. So they came up with a different solution. I don't see evidence that the 2D Target Trace is a gimmick. The Target Trace is what the audio looks like if you plotted it. The Target Trace displays what you hear from the Deus as a graphical 2D plot. You can see two artifacts near each other, or see very close targets bleeding into each other, you can see commingled targets trying to move towards the non-ferrous center line. You can see isolated non-ferrous artifacts clearly plot on the center line, while all kinds of other ferrous Traces are being plotted above and below. Nickels laying flat vs on edge look different. A cartridge Trace will look long in one sweep direction, rotate 90 deg and the Target Trace changes into a circular plot. If your soil has a common artifact (I doubt a pull tab will be easily identified 😥 ), maybe or maybe not you’ll be able to some times see a familiar Trace and with some degree of certainty make a dig no dig decision. There's a ton I don't know about the 2D Target Trace, but what I can see now, it has it's use as visual secondary discrimination tool. Rotating on a target is a discrimination tool, lifting the coil to check for dept and/or size is a discrimination tool. Changing frequencies is a discrimination tool, changing the audio them is a type of discrimination, etc. The CTX 3030 has a 2D display as well as other detector manufacturers. I don’t think it’s going away, it’s going to become more integrated in the future. One thing I find amazing is seeing a non-ferrous clearly plotting on the center line. If the VDI/TID interest you then dig it. The audio on the Minelab using full tones only indicates to me the VDI/TID and depth. There's no other information to had. The Target Trace shows us the conductivity image of the artifact. I think that may be useful for those who take the time to learn it. Presently I'm testing All Metal, no ferrous alarms or any type of ferrous indication, no notching. A full wide open 2D landscape. Every thing sounds non-ferrous. I'm using 1-Region All Tones. I've stripped it clean. It'll force me to learn the 2D Target Trace. After some level of proficiency is achieved I'll add the Ferrous Limits and discrimination as the soil dictates. I do believe in the future a select few will master the 2D Target Trace, with many different manifestations, maybe limited for specific artifacts in their area. But they'll be the best in their neighborhood. I have created a Manticore wish list. I would love to hear the 2D Target Trace, that would be next level. Or at minimum it would bring the audio information up to where the XP Deus II is today LOL 😄 Tks! GL👨🦯HH

I agree. I have noticed if there is a lot of foil on the surface, the square tones will give sloppy tones.

I think it's funny how many people buy a detector take it out once or twice and don't go again. Ask why and they will say it's embarrassing to be doing this while in public as people are watching them and they think they look like idiots. What they don't realize is those people looking are actually thinking "wow I would like to try that some day!" I have never met a single person detecting except the Karen's that hate you that thinks your a dork or crazy for detecting. Most people especially kids deep inside always have that treasure hunt light flickering in there head. NEVER worry about what others think. Get out and detect. Or maybe not the less people out the less competition I have.....

You are exactly right. Most people who do not detect, envy us who do!!

Did you set your ground balance to '0'? I was testing the ground balance in my trashy yard last night. There is nowhere to ground balance. I tried the sweep method of ground balancing and Low Conductors ground balanced at 59 and High Conductors at 73. This is expected as the high frequencies radiate electromagnetic force shallower than the lower-conductors. For reference the soil in my local park returns a ground balance of 5, the volleyball court sand is 2. Ground balancing over the trash set the detector up to be 'Ground Positive', which increases the depth of detection. Depth is the last thing I want in a trashy park, as it produces a thousand potential targets, enhances masking and reduces separation. I conducted my test using a ground balance of ‘0’. Tks! GL👨🦯HH

The Deus 2 GB has no manual adjustment in multi frequency programs. The only way to set the GB in FMF is with a Ground Grab. However the mono program does have a manual adjustment for the GB. It really does matter what program(frequency) the machine is running if the GB is needed. Ground balancing in my changing soil can be very difficult when it is wet.
@pigeonbloodruby5330 Жыл бұрын
@@PaystreakSuperfreak Wow, first I heard that the XP Deus II in FMF mode can't manually adjust the ground balance value. I'm curious, as I learned of a trick to ground balance single frequencies of the Simplex + on the saltwater beach using the beach mode and then switching to the single frequency, more to it than that, then detect with the frequency of your choice on the beach. I wonder if there is a hack to use the single frequency ground balance value, adjust it to Ground Negative or Ground Negative then go back to the FMF mode and detect? Tks for the insight!
