Recently I had the pleasure of hosting a live event in Chicago, IL. This event was part of a lecture series called The Brain Body Contract. My favorite part of the evening was the question & answer period, where I had the opportunity to answer questions from the attendees of each event. Included here is the Q&A from our event in Chicago, IL at The Chicago Theatre.
We'll be hosting four live events in Australia in February 2024. Limited tickets remain for our show in Melbourne on February 10, 2024, and our second show in Sydney at the Aware Super Theatre on February 18, 2024. For tickets and event details, please visit www.hubermanlab.com/events.

The longer I stay in the game of progress the more I see how truly crucial it is to bring the physical sciences together with the fields of mental, emotional, spiritual AND historical fields. People have become afraid or dismissive of certain words and subjects, and that keeps them locked into very small worlds. We need the physical, to be sure, to share this life; to have experiences with each other and in solitude, but the physical alone, no matter how long and disease free a life might be molded into, had the texture of a flat, grey void rooted in the heart. Not nearly what is possible. However, if that's all a person has ever experienced, it's pretty tough to convince them there's more. Inside job indeed.

In regards to the question about education reform, in addition to reforming the curriculum to include mind and body wellness education and protocols, I believe the daily structure should be optimized to youths biology. This would include starting later, tayloring learning sessions to a max of 3 90 minute intervals per day with NSDR and/or physical activity in between and also providing healthy plant based meals.

Thank you for the amazing work and sharing the science Professor Huberman. I have a random question for you, but at some point, can you share what you / the field knows about "ISRIB" ? What does it do, and why haven't we heard more about it in a few years? I read an article about it in the MIT Technology review a few years ago and was interested to learn more but haven't really seen much since.

Question…I eat a strict diet and go a long period of time without cheating. I start to feel amazing then I hit a plateau. Why is that when I eat very unhealthy foods it feels like it resets my mood and body to go over that plateau? Is it a dopamine release or do I actually benefit from eating bad foods when it’s a rare occurrence?

Have you ever heard of calorie cycling? Its most likely you are not eating enough calories on your non cheat days, so when you do eat junk food, it is a hit of dopamine.

Hey, I'm not aware if there has been any episode that's already discussed this, but I would be really interested in an episode that discusses the mouth, oral health, and mouth-cleaning protocols (among other topics). I think a lot of people would be interested in knowing what types of tools are out there to promote good oral health. Things like types of toothbrushes, types of toothpaste, types of mouthwash, effects of retainers, effects of nightguards, differences in diet, etc. could be topics of discussion and study. Even things like how oral health affects other systems of the body. Explaining the necessity of certain treatments, like braces or spurs. Or how people perceive others they meet with white teeth, false teeth, crooked teeth, missing teeth, or bad breath. Unless there is already an episode on this info! Either way, I'd love to hear it.

Great Q&A thanks!! Funny but none of the SoCal meditation/yoga scene seems weird or out there at all to me- so normal! lol Just wanted to comment about the 3rd "eye"- I think people call the pineal gland the "third eye" metaphorically because you can feel a slight to strong stimulation there as you meditate and focus your attention in a centered and inward direction. It's the "eye" (or more clearly stated; "awareness") that opens internally into awareness your calm mental landscape. "Seeing inside" not meant to be an actual "eye". 😊

This was all done without a psychiatrist,if at all possible, do you know any good Neuropsychologist in the area of Markham or thereabouts?? I would greatly appreciate it as I’m suffering due to health professionals who are not sure what they’re doing. Thank you for your consideration. Brenda.😢😅😊

I was a Hypnotherapist and worked for a time at a rehab center. I have to say, the clients who were there for weed were the ones most often forced to go and who insisted they weren't addicted. Every other type of drug addict fully admitted to their issue, but never the cannabis cult. The propaganda has worked really well in convincing everyone that it's not just harmless, it's healthy. It's absurd.

I agree that shifts are bad due to their rotation, but what if one lives at night, in a long term and regular mode? For example, getting up at 4:00 pm and going to bed at 8:00 am, every single day, for say twenty years? Does that harm a person's health?
