Hi Kimberly! I am new to your KZbin videos and am loving it. I have been stitching for about 40 years now. You have mentioned it is hard reading a black and white chart and I so agree. So what I do that works for me is to make a photocopy of the chart and take colored pencils and color each symbol. That helps so much so it ends up like a colored chart. Thought I'd share.

This process reminds me of when I used to make a lot of ragdolls. I spent more time picking out the materials for their clothes than actually making them!!! :)

Just for perspective re: color vs black and white printing - I am a public librarian in Alabama. Our public printer charges are based on us breaking even on printing with patrons paying 15 cents per page for B&W and 50 cents per page for color. So there's a BIG difference in cost.

I have decided to do this as one big project but bought the material cut to fit each one as I had originally decided to stitch them separate. I have searched all over for information on what everyone is planning for this series. After such a big decision change and looking for helpful information, it was so exciting to see that Stitchy Talk is about Fall on the Farm! Thank you for so much info. I have made tons of notes and now I cannot wait to get started!

It is late Thursday night and I wanted to make a couple of comments. First …the two greens that you picked for the grass … since this is a fall stitch, it may depend on what your grass looks like in October or November. I am in northern Indiana and our grass is starting to turn colors, just like our leaves. So that may also influence your color selection. Second… there are lots of color changes in the first picture … that will certainly add time to the stitch. And Third … I have no real taste, so I rarely, if ever, change my colors. I am really interested in how much you will accomplish on a project stitching just two hours a week! Missed your videos for the past two weeks, but you are entitled to holidays, vacation, and family time too!

Kimberly, I did have a question. You mentioned that you want to stitch on that piece at least 2 hours, about how many stitches do you get done an hour? I was stitching a couple of hours today and I ended up doing about 75 stitches an hour. I don't know if that is slow or average.

Hello Diane! I'm not sure how many stitches I complete in an hour but I'll let you know during livestream this week.

Hi Kimberly! I like pine needles for green and I like the muddy puddle too! I always buy your floss packs you have such a great eye for color! So now I’ve changed my mind… steamed broccoli and frog legs? Lol I have no idea! Thanks for the video it always helps me so much to see the processes♥️love you and FQS!!! One question, are each of the border blocks going to be different colors? Or will you pick one color like Farmhouse Christmas and use one floss only? What about an outside border since there isn’t one charred would the farmhouse border for the outside work? Hmm I wonder!

I did not make my question clear when I was asking about over one stitching. When stitching on linen, you are going over two threads so when the pattern calls for over one you change to stitching over one thread. I only stitch on 14 count. I have a pattern that calls for over one. Since I am not stitching on linen, how do I stitch over one on 14 count? Thank you
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube3 жыл бұрын
Hello Mrs.Rigsby! If you are stitching on 14 count, you will be stitching over one. If you are stitching on linen then you will need to stitch over two. If a pattern lists over one that is specifically for if you are using Aida (14 ct or 16ct). Kimberly shows how to stitch over one in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/goOonWmgpNaNja8

I am going to start Santa’s Village and stitch the individually. The pattern calls for 32 count linen. I don’t want to use linen. If I use 16 ct will my project’s final size be a lot larger? I figured it to 9 x 11 in. Is that correct?
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube3 жыл бұрын
Hello K! It will be the same size because 32 count linen is the equivalent of 16 count Aida. The individual designs will come out to 4.5" x 5"

Hey Kimberly, it's great to see you back. I'm going to be doing Fall on the Farm also and I was wondering with the 16 count do you stitch two over one? I've only stitched on 14 count and would like to try 16 count. Thanks, 😊 Jennifer
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jennifer! Stitching over one is common for lower counts (16 count and under). Stitching over two is typically for larger count fabric because the holes are a lot smaller.

Why do you put the floss on floss drops if you are leaving them on the original cards?
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube3 жыл бұрын
Hello Lisa! Kimberly does that so she doesn't have to write the name of the color and can use the floss drops for other projects. Putting them on floss drops helps to keep her floss together rather than throwing them loosely in her bag.

$38.70 just for floss. Wow. I have also noticed that conversions for many Classic Colorworks colors don't convert to DMC. It's quite irritating. I know that many of the variegations don't convert and I just make my own choices. So many FQS patterns use CC floss I'm beginning to think I'll have to stop following this channel. It's just too irritating.
