5:48:25 Here she is crying because she didnt think she had to physically stand up and show to the court how doug was standing and how his hands were, because it never happened . If you were being attacked by a man, you will remember the exact moment of when the attack happened. She cannot explain it because she knows that dougs back was turned and he wasnt attacking her , lunging at her or aware that she had a gun in her hand. She didnt take any drugs or drink alcohol that affect her memory. In the moment of the threat and leading up to it she should remember it and she does remember what happened but she knows 100% that there was no threat because evidence prooves that she shot him from more than a meter away , which tells us that he never lunged at her, because she states that she pointed the gun towards his knee (showing her hand pointing the gun to the floor direction) and autopsy shows that he was shot in the back of the leg . 5:48:25 So ashley has told us , her first shot is of dougs back of right leg knee , autopsy states that the bullet came from the back of the leg to the front which means doug had his back towards ashley. Which demonstrates that doug never lunged at ashley as she is testifying in this day 4 trial. She she has lied to the court . And then after shooting doug in the back of the right leg, doug turned around to his right to see who shot him , he saw ashley there with the gun and then ashley shot him in the right side of the chest which forced him to fall back. It was 100% not self defense. She is guilty

Why didn't the prosecutor call the lead detective on this case? I think we've seen evidence that the victim was controlling and abusive. We've only got Ashley's word that it was self defense. But we have zero proof she pre-meditated this and no proof at all that it *wasn't* self defense. I know that abused women act in ways most of us wouldn't understand. I have a friend who still does her husband's laundry even though he flaunts his mistress in front of their kids. She's been abused for years and is completely financially dependent on him, so she complies and "goes along to get along" and just survives. Abusers do a number on the abusee's head. I'm not entirely sure what to believe in this case, but one thing I do believe is that the prosecution hasn't proven their case beyond a reasonable doubt, and I find a lot of their tactics to be incredibly shady. I'd vote to acquit based on that.

I was in a relationship with an emotionally abusive, manipulative, jealous, gaslighting creep. And he didn’t physically harm me, but he would demonstrate his physicality to intimidate when angry - punching walls, etc. I finally had enough when he tried to manipulate my 3 year old because he didn’t like me getting along with her dad for the sake of having a healthy co-parenting relationship. I knew he had a handgun, and I called my mom that morning to come pick me up, because I was afraid of an “if I can’t have you nobody will.” I ended up being safe leaving, but he did end up being a stalker for a couple years, despite me going no contact and changing my number, made my life hell.

@@livecalm2246 according to Tommie Benefield the dog incident didn't happen the way it's been portrayed. he did other stuff but its been dramatized. Prosecutors made a big mistake. They never should’ve allowed that attorney Samara Sweet to discuss her opinions on typical abuse victims. She WAS NOT AN EXPERT WITNESS- she can’t testify to that! She was simply a factual witness and has no psychological forensic expertise in that area anyway. I’m shocked the prosecutor made no objections!! That testimony was complete misinformation and layperson knowledge of psychology- never should’ve been allowed on the record.
