@@bran70 completely agree! they has some radio time, but that album was/is phenomenal. should have gotten so much more exposure. but i think Velvet Revolver drowned them out. and they where so much better, but the general audience loves 'basic' music

Alex’s drumming on Outta Love is absolutely phenomenal! Always blows me away. As far as I’m concerned, Alex is right up there with Bonham, Baker, Peart, Portnoy….pretty much all of the killer drummers out there. He belongs on any list of phenomenal, influential drummers. The thing that!s so cool about Alex, is he knew his brother was the spotlight of the band and was always okay with that. Edward’s playing was so original and incendiary, especially when they first came out, it took a killer drummer like Alex to compliment and keep up with him. They definitely had that brotherly, musical connection

Hands down one of the greats in his own right. He’s up there with the best. Ray blew me away when I watched him live at the Bonzo Bash at namm he truly stood out. Kudos to him for giving a proper tribute to Al.

Ray has done an amazing job with Korn and a Korn fan I am, BUT He's too damn good for that band. This is another great example of his amazing skills. The guy is absolutely one of thee very elite! WOW, you talk about precision! Awesome that he's playing tribute to Alex. We lost Eddie but Al's still here and should be recognized and apprecited, as such, for the legend he is, while he's still here. P.S. Would love to see Al play again, and would love to hear a new KXM record from Ray. Cheers MD - Thank you!

Amazing player! I’m not into Korn, but everything he’s played on live or studio is fantastic. He sounds like a hard hitter, but man he’s got groove! Also the snare sounds different than when Al plays it. Heavy Artillery! Love this video!

Richard Patrick has continued to say he will eventually do another Army of Anyone album. Hopefully we get another KXM album soon since they only take 2-3 weeks to right and record those albums.

Alex was the reason I picked up a drumstick. I saw the video for Jump and was blown away. I was like that is what I wanna do! Drums became my metal. So seeing this video meant the world to me. Alex...congrats! The soundtrack of my youth and still today!

I had the pleasure of seeing Ray fill in for Kretz of Stone Temple Pilots when Kretz's father passed away in October 2008 and STP was on tour down here in deep south Texas. Ray was fantastic. STP was fantastic.

Ray busting into Lionel Richie's all night long during his solo! Haha reminded me of that always. Ray seems like such a good dude and such an incredible drummer, I could watch him play all day everyday. As a life long KoRn fan, I love Ray. He stepped up to fill David's shoes when he left and kept the band going. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for Ray. Not just for his work with KoRn either, I've been a fan of his since he toured with DLR. Was also a big fan of his from Army of Anyone. That's when I really took notice of Ray's skills. KoRn is lucky to have him, that's for sure!

So cool that he mentioned Maynard Fergusen. I grew up in a musical family from a very musical hometown. I was exposed to some great music from all genres. I think I have seen Maynard Fergusen live more times than any other musician. Fun times!!!

Killer vid! Congrats to Alex. Well deserved!!! Love how Ray desected tunes and praised OU812! That record are full of great grooves and drumwork (and offcourse guitarplaying songs, etc), and are often overlooked because of a bit poor production, lacking a bit low end. And also songs from Diver Down wich also get to much negativety. What’s not to love? ❤

Awesome tribute to the GOAT, Reverend Al! Ray is one of my favorite drummers and he did an outstanding job analyzing and conveying why so many of us grew up loving Al's playing. Ray's playing on the Army Of Anyone record is a big reason why that album blows away anything the DeLeo Bros did in STP. I would love it if Army would get back together and do another record. Thank you, Ray, and thank you Modern Drummer, for putting together this amazing tribute to the one and only Alex Van Halen.

Never really listened to him with Korn but as a huge King's X fan i listened to him with KXM and realized what a great player he is. Excellent educator as well. Not all drummers can convey ideas musically and vocally as well as Ray does 🤘

Mean streets main pattern is played with one hand on the hi-hat. You can hear the sound of the hi-hat being struck while the snare is hit.

First off thanks to Modern Drummer,for bringing this tribute and I'm so happy that finally Alex has surface and connected to is lovers and fans of the beautiful music he and his team mates provided us the sounds of our environment of youth of growing up, the radio with Van Halen on was a must and natural reaction to turn up the volume. Alex you are a audio and visual experience and I'm so happy you have donated your tool sets. I hope you when you are ready please come out and tell us of your happy times making the rock and roll recordings your attitude was well taken and the songs where about girls the best of life's offerings. I never saw the Van Halen but was fortunate to see Ray and Dave at the Virginia Beach amphitheater, a mind blowing experience, for sure!
