It doesn't matter if you've been playing for 30 years or 30 minutes, his advice is great for any drummer

I love that he raised his throne and lowered the toms and cymbals. I used to always cringe at watching how low he sat, but it's a testament to always being willing to learn and grow. He's one of the goats
@kittymetal1864 ай бұрын
In concerts I was always disappointed at how low he sat. I like watching drummers' techniques (my dad was a jazz drummer and he told me about various drumming skills). When I met Nicko in 2005, I asked him why he was seated so low. He said it was because the other band members were jealous of his good looks so he needed to be unseen behind his drum kit! Great drummer and personality.

I’m not a drummer- why is it cringeworthy that he sits low??
@davis311c16 күн бұрын
@stitcha123 because of spinal compression etc

Of all the impressive things we can list about Nicko....surely one of the most impressive is his ability to not accidentally hit that ride cymbal in its current position. Impressive indeed. :)

If Nicko made a video of him breaking down every maiden song and it was 20 hours long.......I'd likely watch the whole thing.

Ergonomics is critical for longevity as a drummer. This is great. I have struggled with how to setup a big kit too. It is not easy.

I love playing where eagles dare nicko! I was getting the beat wrong, but now I seen how you do it, I...well I get it. I only play traditional drumsticks SOMETIMES on slow easy songs because I have problems going around the toms, but I always used matched. I use a lovely cheap ludwig 6 piece kit with remo emperor heads on top and silentstrokes on the bottoms because I love that old fashioned 70's open bottom sound. When I was 10, I was tapping on everything. Once I tapped on the back of my dad's headrest in the car and he said "stop with that stupid music!"😅 it happened so many times! Those cushions had bounce! Appreciate your advice greatly!🥁

Yeah, play for the music/band and not for yourself or for the drums' sake. Don't really agree with the left/right hand starting of fills, because in my experience you can be more versatile if you practice both.

I know, all Maiden fans here. I was a Maiden fan myself but I have to state that McBrian never filled the footsteps of Clive. His playing lacks creativity.
