After reading Joe's posting about Bernie's death on 8/24/23, and then his tribute the following day, I watched this interview again. Bernie was such a friendly, likeable guy here in the interview. Very humble, not full of himself at all. I can see why he and Joe had developed a close friendship. Rest in peace, Bernie. I wish I'd kept up with blues and rock in their heyday, rather than just going my merry way in other directions. For sure I would know more about music and be more appreciative of the art that makes rock and blues and even popular music. Still, as they say, it's better late than never! It's sad to see so many greats pass away before I even got to know them through their music.😢 But thanks to Joe's interviews, I have gotten to know a little about some of them.

As a none native english tongue it' s a pleasure listen to Bernie Marsden because he speaks without any heavy accent. Still got the Whitesnakes albums with the great duo Marsden/Moody R.i.p. Bernie great player and nice guy.

Fantastic interview Joe! What a wonderful living legend Bernie is, and what a gentleman you are too. I don't know if you remember, but I had the pleasure of sitting and chatting with you back in 2007 after your show at the Cheese & Grain in Frome, UK. We sat talking for ages in an empty hall and you borrowed my zippo to light a cigar. You were very kind, generous with your time and encouraging. Thanks man. I'm still playing, writing, recording and releasing songs and I look forward to chatting with you again one day. Rock on, Al

I love the term`disease`in this context. I was lucky to have Uncles in the late 60`early 70`s that taught me to listen to music, I was into Zep ABB etc etc when I was 11 and knew I wanted to play guitar. Unfortunately my mum and dad couldnt afford it as i was the oldest of 6, now I am in my 60`s and now still live and breath guitar when I can get time away from work. It is in your bones and genes. and yes I have a massive guitar collection now but never ever made the top grade but I love just the time I can playing .

Thanks for doing these interviews Joe.. it’s a great insight into the early 60/70s blues scene in London. *footnote I met Bernie once and told him I was learning the blues, he took my acoustic and said “you need to be able to do this” and played an almighty blues lick (which was truly amazing and blew me away). Which was/is the best lesson ever and has always remained the bench mark. He then kindly signed my guitar case, which I cherish both lesson and autograph.

For me, any interview with mentions of Green, Beck, Moore and Rory is a treat; without a doubt my top guitar influences/heroes and Bernie seems to be a humble, sweet guy. Unfortunately, other than Beck they're all gone.....if you could get Beck to sit down for an hour that would be great, but probably just a touch more likely as interviewing the aforementioned departed greats. Another hour w/ Bernie would be great. Joe B. I totally enjoy your interviews.

Excellent story time interview guys. I grew up with so much of Bernie's music and had no idea of the gravity of his interconnection with so much music and so many artists. I ordered the "signed" book and can't wait to receive it. I hope to see Bernie somewhere, sometime, and I'll see you again Joe. My wife and I saw you in the old auditorium in Columbia, S.C. a couple of years ago. My parents went to dances there in the 50's. Great stuff guys, shine on and thanks for the history. Understanding the past helps us navigate the future. God bless you both.
