If you don't mind tiny , Point Pelee National park -it's not out in the middle of nowhere (I love that too) but it's a nice change from our more habitated county. September/October is when the monarch butterflies rest at the tip during migration. It's really at it's prettiest in the summer- but for the butterflies... Try checking out airbnb or snowbirds have cottages outside the point - I don't know if there might be one to rent there. A recommended itinerary might be calling the park to see if they're taking their canoes out (they don't if the wind's not right) ,renting one in the morning and going out on the marsh . I'm told it would take an hour to get to the lake from there. Grab a bite - something packed, the "cafe" where you rent the canoe isn't much more than bottled water when it's open. Then pop in at each beach/picnic spot to see which is your fav. You can swim at the beaches but not the tip (if you feel like the water's clean enough unlike my mom). The visitor centre is right across from the last one. Take the shuttle to the tip (it used to be a long sandbar but it's not as exciting now,but have fun on the shuttle ride + latittude sign) . There should be a short history video back at the visitor centre if you ask. Also ,you can pay for a tour guide that can take you down the path that leads from the centre. Then head back to the trails, footpaths, and your picnic station to grill some veggies you can pack from farmstands outside the park. When you're ready to leave stop back at marsh ,go on the boardwalk and take sunset pictures from the observation tower on your way out. Canoeing or taking the ferry to Pelee island is another day trip. Mexican and Portuguese or Italian are the best to look for in Leamington. Leamington is tomato capital of Canada 🍅😊 most of which is July,but you could take some cute photos in front of the prop tomato family that's out during the summer. Winery tours. Nearby in Kingsville stop off at John R. Park Homestead - a little early Victorian historic home. Fort Malden in Amherstburg is on the National historic sites pass list if you care. Heritage village has the Jack miner home (Jack Miner started the first bird sanctuary in North America). Take snapshots in front of the building murals in Essex - there might be a train museum there. Inquire about Acadia bus tours . Recommend Harrow fair cookbook, Windsor star history of Windsor, books on our lady of Assumption (the oldest church in Ontario) ,with Wolfe in Canada by G.A. Henty (British novelist) if your library has it. Doors Open Windsor used to go on around September. Farm hikers tour goes on then as well around the county seperately. The Babe houses,willistead and some old churches are spots you can check out in Windsor. Grab a pizza at Coboto club or Angelo's. Erie street is Windsor's 'Little Italy' area. The hot food counter at European market Tecumseh rd. is handy if you want to grab something fast - otherwise I'm not so familiar with restaurants, maybe Ottawa st. Brandners organics. Honestly farm stands are where essex county's highlighted . There's a tiny hanger room museum behind Windsor airport on County Rd. 42 . Go for a walk around John's pond park near banwell rd to finish the day. You can make your way along the national parks all along lake erie up to Niagara and show us a ride on maid of the mist . Chatham is home to T.J. riding stables/ Canadian cowgirls group, where you can take a little trail ride. If you're in St. Jacobs pop in at the market there.

I live in Saskatoon, would have caught this live if you had done the steam not on a Sunday morning... lol. There are a number or nice off the beaten path trails to take (ie not paved, just dirt) along the river that very nice to go on. Also there is a nice beach called Furdale beach south of the city. You access it from Whitecap park. Look forward to your Saskatoon video. :)

Reminds me of Milwaukee and Madison, WI. Beautiful, clean, not huge but not small, and you better own a car cities. They are great in the summer but it is best to book at least 3 months vacation somewhere sunny and warm in the winter. An exception to the rule is those individuals that participate in the fund raising Polar Bear swims. Are you going to return to Saskatoon to participate in a Polar Bear dip?

20 years ago, an office worker in, what was then the main art gallery in Prince Albert, told me about hearing foot steps coming up from the basement of the building, with no one materializing when the steps reached the top. This basement, in the early 20th century, housed the jail in what was then the city hall. I was in the building to record a friend playing the piano on the second floor. I, was there on a cold dark winter evening. And heard nothing. But, you did. Was it a sound you heard? I think this building is still an art gallery, and the basement may still be used for community pottery (ceramics) classes.
@AlinaMcleod
@AlinaMcleod 10 ай бұрын
That’s the one! I took art classes there and my parents dropped me off when they didn’t know it was a holiday weekend and nothing was going on so I unknowingly just sat in the classroom upstairs waiting for class to start but no one was around. Then I hear footsteps coming up the stairs only to not have anyone around. I then explored the building (including the basement) and had some very eerie feelings. Luckily a cleaner found me and I got out of there but I didn’t know it was haunted at the time!

It's true - Windsor's like a suburb of Detroit in a sense . It doesn't mean we don't pull over for emergency vehicles , enjoy privacy and definitely know there's a border between,but there's a lot you can't shop for because most large city things like wholefood stores aren't very union city. People in the 20 ' th century were mostly employed by GM ,Ford, and Chrysler and it's very blue collar. Salt mines, Breweries and poor architectural harmony are other things. Tecumseh is a little more white collar with ocean body soap, naturopath etc. Ironically Windsor is referred to as 'rose city' and not auto city. You don't really think of all the history to look at it. It was very much involved in the war of 1812 .

Well done with this Saskatoon video, Alina. I'm a Saskatchewanian too (although "Riderpride" is not my culture). Canada, and other countries like Iceland, Cuba, France, U.K., Sweden, Finland and other European countries have better "access" to health care than say the United States, in that it is publicly funded. We have to remember that public funding of health care was won after huge political struggles, and is still in danger of being replaced with privatization by governments lobbied by the medical industrial complex. I just made up that expression The shortage of nurses, physicians, surgeons, and other health professionals you are talking about, are problems in our health care systems which sometimes make health care services inaccessible. It's election time soon, be sure to let the political parties know what "the people" want in publicly funded health care which is not only good for the rich.

Hi Alina, I'm watching the Live Stream this morning, it is shocking to hear about our Canadian Healthcare system. I think COVID19 is to blame and the stupid Trudeau Government, as it was said;" No jab no job." So many doctors and nurses were sacked. Here in New Zealand the Healthcare system is somewhat better, even so I have to wait for a specialist 8 month on public health care. If I go private I only have to wait a week, go figure
