Love your Channel. Can you do videos on conure parrots. I have a black-capped conure and green cheeked conure and a blue crowned conure. I just would like some basic information about the breed. Thank you

I know you're so busy... When you get a chance could you please talk more about people with allergies and birds that are safer for them. I have alot of allergies but I really want to rescue a bird. Looking for advice.

+MARLENE MC'COHEN Hi Marlene, I have a quick question and it would be great if you, or anyone else, could help. My friend usually parrot sits for this couple when they go on vacation, but my friend is also leaving and she asked me to do it. she never takes it out of the cage because "its too hard to get her back in the cage" I know that's not right. She said it was a pink cockatoo, she didn't know what kind. This poor bird! She often throws the food dish out of her cage and misbehaves for attention. The owner is elderly and admits she doesn't have much time for it! What should I do? I know I need to educate her about birds but how can I do it without seeming rude? Thank you so much! #engagednotcaged

sounds like a salmon crested or Mollucan Cockatoo, very large parrots, upwards of 1400+gms. Many parrots, especially cockatoos, accept new people readily, HOWEVER, there are exceptions and this species has the greatest beak strength of any of the various parrots an can deliver devastating bites if aroused. I would not recommend taking out any strange bird while pet sitting unless you were introduced to it previously by the owner(s) or are experienced with multiple birds of multiple species. It is ultimately safer for you and bird for it to remain in the cage for the duration of a vacation. The problem is not that the bird is vicious, but they can be headstrong and MAY bite to avoid being jailed by someone whom they do not respect. Experience can teach you how to identify the behavior and avoid a bite but lacking that cage time is safer. This is not to say you can't interact, offer scratches, toys and treats. The bird doesn't have to be out to be entertained and cared for.

Can you make a video on different way to get my cockatoo to step up please
@lenzielenski32767 жыл бұрын
Two quick ways to teach a new (to you) parrot to step up. Tap a toe. Many react by raising the foot, simply slide you hand in under it and lift up into the bird's center of gravity. If they won't lift, with palm up, put the lead toes on your index finger, clamp down a little with the thumb and roll your wrist toward you. This has the effect of moving more of the foot onto the hand while naturally raising the bird. Lift up, always into the bird's center of gravity a few inches.

OMG how clueless people are. Has anyone asked this woman what her credentials are or experience is that she should be considered as qualified to give advice on parrots? How many species has she owned and if so, has she had multiple representatives in order to extrapolate what is a species trait vs an individual trait? How long has her experience been? Months? A couple years? I see a vid with her "taming secrets". Sorry, she has not TAMED a single bird. A hand raised domestic parrot does not NEED to be tamed. Since imports stopped as a practical thing in the late 1980's only older people actually TAMED wild parrots, the rest are just pretenders. Has this person ever bred a single species to show she knows enough about it to make it comfortable and healthy enough to WANT to reproduce? Tell you what, I've bred or raised a dozen or so species, had many multiples of many of those species and have actually tamed straight from the jungle parrots. Over 3 decades of experience says if you follow what you "learn" here you will be sorry. I don't claim to know everything, but I know enough to identify danger when I see it and this gal is dangerous.
