@@myaholmes4286 it's not always the bicyclist fault. My mom's fiance was just recently killed after being struck while he was riding on his bike. Struck by an rv and killed instantly. He was off on the side of the road AWAY from traffic when he was struck, so do not say it's usually their fault. Maybe just say a prayer for the family instead 🤷♀️

I live in Pinellas county just south of Pasco and hit and runs happen all the time here ...I cycle in both counties and people run others over and don't even care ..it's the cyclists fault for being in the way. I'm actually going to be going on a ride tomorrow up through Pasco.

Whether it was the cyclists fault or not. He should have stopped to look. I know from personal experience because this is how my brother was killed and he was in the ditch. If he hit something your first reaction should be to stop if you dont know what it is.

Little late, but I think it’s hard to do follow up stories because they have to get lucky that there is a camera at the time they go to make the arrest. For example, in this case... there wouldn’t be a follow up if the camera man wasn’t there that night.

All they had to do was identify the paint code. Once you have the paint code you have the vehicle manufacture. Then the detectives simply run search to see who owns a blue Saturn in the nearby facinity and pay a few visits inspect the vehicle. Then presto they have their suspect. If the suspect was smart he'd have burnt the car and reported it stolen before he burnt and abandoned it.

I've seen so much of this same scenario play out again and again as a former tow driver in California. One man was even run down on his bicycle in San Jose,the driver threw the bicycle into the gutter and dragged the unconscious bicyclist onto the sidewalk to die and took off.

I live in Pasco, FL and I ride my bike everywhere. SR 54 does not have sidewalks in some places, but it is the route I take to work sometimes. It is concerning, and I worry something like this very incident will occur with me or one of my friends that also ride their bike. Very sad situation glad they caught him.

I looked up Florida State laws on hit and run and it said: Fatalities: This may result in a first-degree felony, a revoked license for at least three years, a mandatory minimum of four years in prison, a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. This happened February of 2019 so we probably won't know the outcome for a while!

Im just saying, and everyone i know is annoyed by bicyclists, they are very unpredictable and dont always wear the right gear. No matter what though rest in peace to that guy and God bless his family and loved ones. Its very easy to be hit as a bicyclist. People need to be as careful as possible and you cant expect someone driving a car to be thinking about them 24/7. Im sorry but that is just how it is.
