I used to work for a volunteer fire department in Tennessee. We got dispatched to a call of a guy who was doing a "control burn" and had decided that he was going to take a shower and sleep while it burned. It caught 3 acres of woods on fire and we had to dispatch the Forestry Department it was just a mess

Had a house fire one time, other fd got there first and the home owner was drunk and had a revolver in his hand. Stated that he is defending his property and he has the right. The chief told him to put the gun down so no one gets hurt. The guy then said it's not loaded, pointed at his leg and pulled the trigger shooting himself in the leg.

We once had a fresh built sauna that got stuck by light ning through an ever green. We hurried home once we got the call, but it was too late. Then the firefighters arrived and we had to let them put the fire out, even tho we wanted to let it burn since it was way too late to save anything and clearing the mess up is a lot of work. There was no danger of it spreading anywhere, but they still put it out
