Omg. Exciting. My 1st pregnancy test (37 year's ago) was test tube that you had to wait 1 hour and it sat in a holder that you had to look in a mirror for a circle. That was stressful. Things have come a long way. Lol.

Awesome! I did 3 fresh cycles in one year in 2005 that all failed and finally had 3 stick on frozen transfer. One didn’t ever have heartbeat, lost one at 14 weeks and the 3rd embryo is 16 years old now!! I had crazy pregnancy test fun too!! :)

I had always understood that it was best to use the first pee in the morning because it would have a stronger concentration.

Hi Rachel. I'm so happy for you. Your reaction when you saw.pregnant for the first time was very emotional...I admit I did cry a little. I was married in 1971 and after a year I had systems of pregnancy, there were no home test kits in those days so off to the Dr for a test, they rang after a week to tell me it was positive. Unfortunately I miscarried at 18 weeks. We kept on trying , I had a few missed periods along the way but no positive tests. My Dr sent me to the hospital for tests which were all ok .some of the tests were awful. I was given hormone tablets and sent on my way. Still no home tests. I think it was 1977/8 when I did my first home test. It was like a science experiment. It was a test tube over a slanted mirror. If you saw a ring about an hour later it was positive. Also they were quite expensive. They sent my husband for tests and he was ok. So they did more tests on me after 5 years of trying. I had a dye test which showed my uterus was an odd shape and slightly tilted. Finally after 15years we decided to stop. It had completely taken over our lives and we were both miserable. The relief was amazing So I never did get pregnant again. Things are so much different now and things may have turned out a bit better. We have had a wonderful life. We travelled a lot and did lots of exciting things along the way. We are 69 and 68 years old now and it will be our 50th wedding anniversary in Nov. Good luck And best wishes. from Rowena in the UK.

I got pregnant with my son when I was 20 years old. I am 58 now. We only had the one child. He just turned 38. I took one test....I had to go to planned parenthood because I had no insurance and wasn't working. I peed in a cup and they took a piece of cardboard that was coated in shinny black with a white circle in the middle the circle was about the size of a golf ball. It was a white line circle and was also shiny black in the middle. She took a dropper of my urine and dropped it right in the center. Then with a toothpick she started to swirl it around. She told me to watch for tiny white spots to appear. I stared at that circle as she stired praying in my mind for it to stay black. After about a minute all the sudden White specks everywhere!!! I was pregnant! Never had another test...never had an ultrasound nothing. 9 months later I had a 10.2 pound baby boy! 17 hours of labor no pain meds...The best thing to this day that has ever happened to me. 🥰

I too had a pregnancy test at Planned Parenthood back in the day. There were no drug store pregnancy tests that I knew of back then, and we were moving to another city soon so I didn't want to get started with a new ob/gyn till after the move. I was the mother of an adorable almost 10 month old baby boy at the time, who I had to take with me to the Planned Parenthood clinic, as they made me give the urine sample a day or two before and wouldn't give me the results over the phone. So I had to come in. However, I got only halfway up the clinic walkway where so many women were waiting, when the director of the clinic walked down in a hurry to meet me and asked what I was doing there! Had my son in my arms, and replied, "I was told I had to come down to the clinic for the results of my pregnancy test". She made me wait right there (did NOT want me coming any farther) and I waited while she went back in the clinic to check the results. When she came back, she told me (out there on the sidewalk) "It's positive. What do you want to do about it?". (That seemed cold, even for Planned Parenthood. But it was all OK, because I was smiling inside.) And today that baby, my daughter, is the mother of my two cute grandsons. God is good.

I am pretty sure the director of the clinic didn't want me there because they didn't want me to bring the baby through all the women waiting for....whatever they were there for. They didn't look happy, and I certainly felt uneasy having to bring the baby along, wouldn't normally have chosen to do that.

Wow.. I still have my pregnancy tests from our girls. I just checked. They are clear blue. They still show positive signs 17 and 15 yrs later. That's crazy huh.

The Gardner Quad Squad transfered two eggs, and both split, so the ended up with 2 sets of identical twins, but as quadruplets! So maybe you'll have 4 😁

My 37 yr old daughter here in Australia had an IVF transfer which failed, they found she had endometriosis, scraped it out. Did a 2nd transfer straight after and now she is 20 weeks pregnant with a boy we are so excited as it is her first. She is having a boy. So Rachael you've got this. Looking forward to your journey💗

I just love watching you and I'm so excited for this journey. I'm pretty sure when I had my kids (30 years ago), we had one, maybe two choices for testing. It's amazing how many there are now! My grandson nine years old comes walking into the room and happens to see me watching this video, no problem with that. He then asked me what they were and I told him pregnancy tests and it showed that you were going to have a baby. Oh! Then you could see his sweet brain thinking as he said oh my goodness that many babies? Need a say, I nearly peed my pants. I am really aging myself, but in college, I worked in the lab at Health Services. I did pregnancy tests on a black slide with a drop of pee. If it was “grainy” it indicated pregnancy. Tests to purchase were not available for a couple of years after that, and they were speedy and not totally accurate.

First Response is my favourite too. I like the red dye and how the line is thinner than Clear Blue. I found it easier to see a line.

Back when my Grandma was having babies (1930's) in the country they would inject some of the mom's urine into a female rabbit and wait so many days. If the rabbit died that meant she was pregnant. It so much easier now a days and nicer to rabbits,

I've had a line that had small amounts of dye on red and blue dye tests and my 8month old is proof that it picked up my pregnancy at 2 weeks 4 days lol i knew I was pregnant... I also have a 3 year old son. Didn't know I was pregnant found out at 6 weeks and 4 days.

I wish I could post a picture of the tests I took my last Pregnancy (last year.) I took SO MANY. Even various times during the day. I felt crazy. Also…1st Response red dye tests last year had AWFUL evap lines or indent lines. Which is so hard when you have suffered 6 losses like I had. I was also on fertility meds. 1st Response Red Dye is the ONLY ones I trusted after so many crummy tests. I tried the online cheapies but they didn’t show up for a while. I had tried the Walmart cheapies…those gave me false positives. Anything with the BLUE DYE AVOID!!! In my honest opinion. Congratulations Rachel! I can hardly wait to watch as this pregnancy unfolds! I will be praying for these babies & that your family will be complete!

I had the same thing of spotting long before I could test. Finally saw my obgyn about it. Of course, I went and it didn’t happen that month. I asked if I could be pregnant so they did a blood test. I took the easy at home test the next morning and it was positive before they called to tell me my blood test was negative. At my first appointment she asked me about it and told me my blood result was at a 2. So I swear by those, a first response was also positive that day.

Not had issues getting pg but never got a positive test unless it was way later in pregnancy around 6 months. Had to confirm through blood test. Congratulations 🙏

I’ve had two false positives two different times they both turned pink before the time they say not to trust it anymore. So when I was pregnant with my twin girls it took me a second to trust that I was really pregnant as well!

You mentioned that you used "afternoon" pee. I've always heard that you should use first morning pee when HCG is more concentrated. Are today's home tests so sensitive that it doesn't make any difference?

I think that modern fertility would be brilliant with the app! For me, i tried for over a year too, & it got to the point where I thought I was imagining faint lines-the evap lines messed me up too!! I had several myself, & wasn’t pregnant

14:54 Waiting for the response to me feels like.. a kid waiting to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. It's so exciting, and you have a million thoughts running through your head. Then, when you finally get the first positive, it feels like a weight has been lifted. Like, it's truly to good to be true and causes you to cry uncontrollably, but it's just hormones lol. I'm currently 7 weeks and around 3 weeks ago (sat) I bought a store brand test from Family Dollar. I knew it was to early to test (my period wasn't due for almost a week), but I couldn't help myself. It actually came back positive. I was surprised a generic test gave me a faint line so early. I had a doctors app that Monday, but I really couldn't wait lol.

I have never had an evap line when I wasn’t pregnant, either. When I found out I was expecting my oldest (living) daughter, it was well past the time limit. This was also 28 years ago. The test I took was an equate brand, with blue dye. (Rachel, I agree with you. I totally prefer the pink dye.) I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy! 💕💕

You talking about over analyzing tests and going back hours later and looking for a line. I did that....alot. my husband and I did fertility meds last year around this time. We did 6 rounds of femara. It worked for me every month like clock work. (I have pcos so I don't ovulate) That was the hardest 6 months of my life. After the 6th round I was pretty beaten down. So we decided to stop. I have not given up hope that one day we will have a baby. I just needed to give my brain a rest. So I know exactly what you where feeling.

First Response 100% was my favourite when I was testing. Clear Blue was always hard to read. Cheepies from the dollar store are awful and hold bad memories for me: I was testing daily when I got pregnant after a miscarriage, and although it kept saying Positive I sadly had already lost that pregnancy but for over a week it kept saying Pregnant.

There are two lines… the left line is the test line and are faint due to the early stage of pregnancy. The line in the right is the control line. It shows up to show the test is working. Rachel is already posting dye stealer tests on her Instagram. She’s really pregnant!! Yayay!

I was going to say the same thing! I think on camera it certainly didn’t show the same as it did in real life because when Rach said regarding the 2 First Response tests, “..those are definitely positive.” I was like…. Errmmm. Lol. Then I squinted and thought maybe I saw a line. Anyway. I’m so happy for the growing Engelbarts crew!!!
