"Stop reading and start listening" is some great advice! I studied pickups for 20 years before I started making my own and at first I was just aiming to get the readings correct, aiming for numbers but my pickups lacked personality. It wasn't until I learned to trust my ears more than the information I'd read online that my pickups really started to sound the way theyre supposed to.

That TOOL riff is one of my FAVORITES Jason!!!! I have a lot of love for Undertow where other's don't seem to. It's definitely TOOLS angriest album.

That master volume you guys discuss at around 51 mins is a cross-line one, right? The single pot blending the two phase inverter outputs together. I have found them to sound awesome but they are very jumpy. If you add some series resistance with each output from the phase inverter, before the pot, it greatly improves the taper of the control

On the few amps I’ve had (2203/2204 circuits), I prefer without the fat cap (it was a .68)….it seemed like it “got in the way” of stuff…..
