LIVE REACTION - My Hero Academia Chapter 317 is 100% Pure HYPE

Once again I was told to do a reaction video to the upcoming chapter of My Hero Academia and oh boy I wasn't ready for what was in Chapter 317. First we have the return of the iconic Anti-Hero Stain. Then we have All Might failing to grab Izuku / Deku's hand and tell him its okay to rest. Lastly Izuku has finally moved on and no longer needs All Might by his side anymore. Such a good chapter from Kohei Horikoshi-sensei! Can't wait for Chapter 318 of MHA / BnHA next week!

One thing is for certain, Deku is heading for the breaking point and either Stain, Bakugo, and/or Uraraka will save him from the abyss. I definitely see All Might making the ultimate sacrifice and either AfO or Shigaraki dying as well. If this does end with Deku leaving the country to recover having narrowly escaped badly wounded. @@ace0135 yes like when last year just before the start of the war aizawa and all might were talking outside the dorm and at some point of their conversation all might thought of nighteye because of what aizawa said and this chapter came out literally a week after we got nighteye's death in season 4 and now the same thing happened with endeavor not responding to shoto's messages and calls when we just recently got in the anime endeavor messaging to him and being ignored plus finally getting an interaction with him in last week's episode

I just think it's amazing how the *difference of emotions* are shown with Deku under his mask for this chapter. Many see Deku as being completely cold here, but I can see when tells All Might not to worry about him, he seems sad... The difference with his pupil more dilated, the eye cut outs more rounded with edges softened compared to before. When he is angry, his pupil more constricted and eye cut out with sharper angles like when he defeated the assassin. And the one time in ch 310 (the last time he has smiled to date) when he took the bento before with his eyes closed and outlined in white to display a smile underneath. So I just appreciate this type of expressiveness in particular for this chapter.

Just recently noticed that Izuku's Blackwhip in the last panel look like spider legs and there are six of them, this is most likely a reference to Spiderman and most likely the Spiderman black symbiote costume. DC/Marvel references strike again and it is awesome.

This chapter certainly shows the burden that someone who tries to be a Hero that can handle all of the world's issues by themselves. It is just impossible and not even All Mighty could handle it which is why he had help from others. However, the masses of society are demanding for someone who can resolve all the growing issues for them without considering the limits a person can have and that they themselves are also a person. Not to mention we already seen the masses are also adding to the growing issues as well because they refuse to allow the people who took on the jobs as Heroes do their job and trying to handle the issues themselves without any training leading to alot of destruction, death, and injury. At this point the people are basically look for a God that will protect them and resolve everything for them with Deku trying to play that role with both sides forgetting their humanity.

That's one thing I love about MHA. It shows how heroes are human, and not some over idiolized paragons. It's easy to demand others to always stay strong, always work for others, and never expect anything in return, but that's inhumane demand (imo). It's easy to criticize those heroes who dropped their profession, but think how would you react in their shoes. Imagine being in school or work, and you're doing your best. But only thing you get in return is scorn and belittling. You might be able to take it a little while, but most people will break for sooner or later. And with heroes it's even worse, when they are putting their literal life's on the line. How about those heroes who have family to take care of? You might want to protect civilians, but you also want to protect your own kids, and not leave them as orphans. Hell, we can see with Shigaraki what can happen when a hero gives her all to be a hero.

@@anttibra it is sadly the mind set of the masses with MHA society. They are so willing to let another person carry the burden of keeping the world safe but are not willing to reach out their hand to do the same for the Hero they placed that burden on. A rather dark reality that even happens in our own world. There is a phrase I like to say when it comes to stories about heroes being "A Hero is expect to save the world but the Hero can't expect the world to save him or her from itself." All Might current state is a example of what happens when so many place the burden of saving the world on a individual without also being willing to provide the same to that individual. He had to hide his condition for years just to keep people from losing hope and from losing faith in him but if he had confidence that the masses would have been willing to help him and not go into anarchy due to needing to slowdown on his job as a Hero due to his condition, All Might may have gotten better treatment for his condition and may have been able to find away to recover a part of his health. The Masses in MHA's society are now pushing Deku down that same path and if he keeps this up, Deku will end up just as physically broken as All Might is now or dead because he tried to carry the burden of society.

I think Stain is feeling regret about his actions. He was always about Hero Society being full of fakes that should be removed so only the true heroes can shine, and he got exactly what he wanted. In the current situation, the only heroes left are the ones that Stain would consider true heroes, and it SUCKS. Stain is looking how the situation that he helped to create is destroying his idol (All Might) and the rest of the true heroes (Deku), and I think that he would want to somehow make amends and help the heroes that are left.

That would be so cool, maybe Deku can even learn from Stain things that they probably don't teach at hero school, which would make sense since Deku's design is starting to turn into one of an anti hero! And like, people theorized back when Season 2 aired that Stain would probably turn good after fighting, acknowledging and even SAVING Deku from the Nomu and we legit didn't hear from him anymore at ALL beside that one shot of him chained up in Tartarus. I just really hope the manga doesn't end yet, like maybe we'll get a time skip or something because at this point it would be verrrry rushed and Deku isn't really at 100% yet and he hasn't really SURPASSED All Might but he's on par with him, so maybe that was a hint at the story continuing until Deku has truly mastered and prefected OFA, since he only just obtained Fa Jin and all

I'm sure Deku doesn't want society to perceive him as a frightening hero. The least of his worries is getting labeled by society as an individual who is "far from being a hero" just because he is covered in scars, blood, and mud. He carries the heavy weight of the hero society right now on his frail shoulders. He is only 15 or 16 years old. Before long, he's gonna reach his breaking point but All Might would have died already. All Might also carried the weight of the world, but back then, he was becoming the pillar, the "Symbol of Peace", and so, citizens were in full support of him. Anyway, just putting my two cents out there. I also noticed that Deku's blackwhip is overflowing from his body (not just his arms/hands). Can't wait for Chapter 317 to be animated with its emotional OST two to three years from now 😁. Edit: Shiozaki Ibara tattoo on the second assassin --- don't overlook it! 😁

All might reaching out to izuku is a direct parallel to chapter one, where all might saves izuku from the sludge villain and takes off before izuku could ask him if he could be a hero. There is a panel where izuku stretches out his hand as all might is about to jump away, and the next panel is all might in the sky with izuku trying to hold onto his leg. In this moment, all might is the one that wants to tell izuku something, but izuku jumps away before all might can even grab him

Remember, Stain is someone who is in it for actual heroism. He despises TV and popular heroes more than villains because they help for the money and the fame, rather than just the helping of people. Stain kinda likes Izuku, As they are kinda both "hero" fans. The main difference is Izuku is mainly looking for/at the ideal parts and Stain is looking at and intending to remove the rotten parts. They may scuffle, but perhaps just as a test, since they've met before.

Just a thought. Those panels with death arms was real punch in the feels and it felt so damn real and I loved it! They are all human beings and being a hero is not going to change that. Never. Also I love Mt lady’s scar. I’m calling it now bakugou and deku will have a third fight that will be important to bringing deku back on the right path, I mean at this point they both have become opposites of each other now. He is the deuteragonist after all. And his hand will reach out to him. The last panel shot of izuku kinda reminds me of how shigaraki looks at the climax of the villains arc.

Izuku isn't really wrong though, his priority is still reaching out to save anyone he can... even villains (as noted by nagant where deku reached to protect Overhaul like it was second nature without any hesitation). The path his is taking is very reminiscent of all might and his career as a hero. He is working with the other heroes and the government, but doesn't want to put all might, a person without any powers, into any danger. His appearance is largely due to the fact that his costume hasn't been repaired since the war arc, and for the past 2-3 weeks he has been resolving incidents nonstop (much like all might in his heyday, but the villains all might faced weren't nearly as dangerous or frequent). You could say that izuku's path is a self destructive one, but what other choice does he have? Anyone he fights alongside is a liability should he encounter AFO or Shigaraki unless eraser head is nearby.

He's not going through the wrong path, he has been fighting no stop so he's dirty and angry at AFO, that's why he looks the way he looks, if someone reading the latest chapters thinks that Izuku might become a villain then that someone should read everything again and pay more attention. A hero doesn't need to be clean and cute, that has nothing to do with being a hero, that's what these arcs are showing. Saying that Deku is becoming a villain because he looks more dark, is like saying that All Might was a villain because his eyes were always covered in black and because he now looks "creepy". And let's not even talk about Tokoyami or that guy in class B that is pretty much pure darkness.

But what I find interesting is how the message of heroes are just human parallels with Izuku in the last panel. It's literally inhumane and impossible for one human to shoulder the burden of saving everyone. He's making the same mistake as All Might did hence the whole night eye comparison. Interested to see how everything plays out.

The series is giving me depression, everything we've seen behind and the way it's at this moment, I have to congratulate the author's patience and all the construction he did to get to this point and it echoes in the heart in this way and of so real and palpable way, yes because the consequences we are seeing now do not derive only from this arc but from everything we have seen since the 1st episode without exception, in fact the panels of the first two chapters are very identical to those of this last chapter, plus one Once Horikoshi is proving to be a master of parallels, should I say that it is in this chapter that a new era for the series begins? (I like the way the author works the psychological of the characters, gradual and subtle, because in my view, drastic changes don't exist that easy especially when the characters have certain psychological characteristics or strong ideals, it is usually gradual derived from various events that happen in our life, this is called living), not to mention his art and how he expresses the characters' feelings/psychological through his art (an example I noticed is the more destroyed his equipment is, the more destroyed his his psychological, heart and feelings, not to mention the sparkle in his eyes), and as a true artist there is nothing better than transmitting a message or a tribute to someone than through art, in the last panel Midoriya seemed to me a lot like the Guts with the helmet and armor, speaking on this panel in aesthetic terms, he looked like a monster with that look and equipment as it is, burnt gloves that looked like gags. a monster, and its great antagonist, Shigaraki, angelic, white hair like Griphith. And btw, in the last chapter looks like only Midoria enters in the mansion, Endevoir said to him to wait, but in one of the last panels looks like Midoria was really close to the door, in this chapter was the only one with his suit burned and beeing honest that explosion was not important reason why the author didnt want to give such an importance and AFO knew that anyone was gonna die but to let him know is serious and dangerous and mess with his psych and drive him crazy with the possibility that someone will explode, suffer if is close to him or intensify the necessity to him continue working and try to stop him, like this his psych will be even more damaged with the physical and psych confronts, well one of the reasons why he splits from the All might, and for example we can see him worried that the villain will explode in the end of the chapter so I to me the AFO evilness didnt loose impact, now seeing is oubvious that anyone was gonna die and the same for AFO, only Midoria was there and he was the only one that had his suit burned. Speaking Death Arms was a criticism to our society, not everyone reacts in the same way to negative criticisms, the point there was him work a lot and sacrifice his life witout time to even smoke, and he didnt want to receive positive words but the pression under that conditions is desesperating and receiving that negative criticisms, internet have lots of that for example but wwell comparing with Death Arms is difficult... btw good videos!!!

It's so cool to see that Izuku needs to get his mind fixed, all might couldn't do it, stain might try it, I don't think even shoto or bakugo can, I think it's probably gonna be Uraraka since her new philosophy is basically savig heroes, and she might confess to him finally and it would be the perfect time for that, it would be soooo impactful. I've commented on another channel of a possible Deku x Bakugo scenario wherein Bakugo will do a Naruto (punch and yell at you till you wake up) but will be overpowered by Deku and pinned down by his black whip. Deku will finally look back at Bakugo and the latter will see Deku's lifeless/strained/empty stare. He either won't give Bakugo a reply or just a cold "Don't follow me anymore..." voice.

It won't really be a third fight, more like Bakugo will try to subdue Deku but with his danger sense, he will evade every approach of Bakugo and subdue him instead of a blackwhip or leave them via making a smokescreen. It is plausible given the open-ended direction of how things are. Especally if he and Stain sotr of team up for a while... what ifs and theories are abundant~

It seems Deku really didn’t learn anything from his predecessors past mistakes. Pulling a Nana, and pushing your loved ones away because you feel it’s the only way to protect them is what help lead to Shigaraki becoming what he is now. The design of Deku’s tattered costume reminds each of the black symbiote suit Spider-Man wore.

While Death Arms may have not been the most important character, that panel of him leaving his hero life behind him is really powerful. It shows how bad this society truly is, the moment the hero’s don’t save everyone and the villain gets away they start sending endless waves of hate for not saving absolutely everyone and letting the invincible villain, that they need all hands on deck to stop, go. He was the first hero we, as the readers, were introduced to. So it’s sad to see him go, I really hope that he comes back but I doubt it

Honestly I was waiting for this. Even before everything went to hell I knew that deku would one day reach the point where he feels completely stressed out with too many fires to put out. All for one just accelerated the time frame. The manga art on demon deku though is simply sublime. His frayed clothing, broken arm bracers and black whip make him look absolutely sinister. But yeah at this point while I love deku’s development I really hope the man gets a ducking break because he needs it.

The reason Sir Nighteye didn’t acknowledge Deku at first was because his foresight seen Deku was the reason leading to All Mights death. After the last ep of the Overhaul vs Deku fight you can see a quick frame where Nighteye smiles in black & white quick frame somewhat acknowledging Deku because he changed his foresight and is relieved knowing that maybe All Mights can too.

Deku's really channeling his inner Berserk with his new dark look, what a badass. Keeping Miura's spirit alive is a plus in my book. While I've always liked Deku, I always felt his overall personality wasn't as interesting as Bakugo, Shoto, Ochaco, Endeavor, or All Might. This arc is really turning that around, seems like Horikoshi is going back to the Batman-esque ideas he had when he initially brainstormed what Deku should be, with Japan becoming his Gotham. Though in Deku's case, its definitely more of a matter of circumstance than initial choice.
