British GT is, without a doubt, the BEST racing series going. Not the best European series, not the best GT series, not the best sports car series. The best series, bar none. They simply get everything right down to the smallest detail. The field is full of great cars and amazing drivers, the tracks are tight, twisty and absolutely gorgeous and the officials are tough but fair all of which keeps the competition close. All the while the track workers keep everyone safe and clear the few wrecks quickly to keep the yellow flags down. Last but certainly not least the announcers and production team who keep us up on all the action and call the races superbly with lots of great insight and plenty of energy. Ever other race series could learn from them. Thanks so much to everyone who works so hard to make this happen!

@@able-fox Check the 2022 DTM grid - only F1 can match that driver quality. I have to admit that GT4 cars can mix up the field which makes BGT exciting to watch 😎

@Pete V , that's what makes it challenging! Much like the Nurburgring Nordschliefe, the narrowness leaves no room for error. Only the best rise to the top at places like Cadwell Park and Oulton Park.

Got 21 minutes more to go; Jules Gounon is an absolute beast! That overtake on Stanley was utter utter class, especially with that GT4 Mustang to contend with at the same time. EDIT: Carroll is an absolute beast too

My goodness I can’t imagine racing can be better than that. What an epic battle between Carroll and Gounon. If one wasn’t a fan of Jules Gounon before this race I dare say you’re a fan of his now. What a brilliant drive. And similarly brilliant performance by Adam Carroll. And cheers to the commentary team. Great stuff mates!!! You could really feel their excitement and joy at watching spectacular racing. Well done!!! Not terribly impressed with Richard Neary, though. Looked like he thought he was driving a NASCAR car rather than a GT3 machine.

Why? These race cars have nothing to do with their civil siblings. They are built by racing shops around the bodywork/shape of a civil vehicle. I mean the race Bentley is not worse/slower than the race Audi, and the BMW is no worse/slower than the Ferrari. That said, these races now feature GT4 (semipro category) cars that are much closer to track-oriented civil GT cars (like a civil Porsche GT4 RS or BMW M4 GTS). Unlike professional GT3 race cars, race GT4 cars are not fully built by small racing shops, except for some systems and components: rear wings, front splitters, racing seats, steering wheels, ABS and traction control are not fully civil on them, and stability control has to be removed but I'm not sure about that. It might be present, just like the case with the dual clutch automatic transmission - it might be present or it might be replaced with a manual sequential like on professional GT3 cars. However, it's probably not the cutting edge manual gearbox on GT4 cars, since the GT3 technology got further ahead and now most of GT3 cars feature a clutch on the steering wheel instead of a conventional pedal. As far as know, it's not the case with GT4 cars (it's either a civil dual clutch automatic or an old manual sequential with a clutch pedal near the brake pedal). All this has little to do with civil cars. The commentators and the industry are hush hush about such things. Rich buyers need to believe they are buying similar cars. Little do they now. Say, a civil Bentley weighs over 2 tons, while a GT3 Bentley weighs 1200 kg and doesn't share a single bone with its civil sibling. So a race Bentley GT can easily blow out of the water any GT4 race cars (whether it's a Ferrari or McLaren) as well a civil super cars that often weight over 1500 kg. It's the same with all other pro cars. Now then German civil cars are great, and Germans can also make great race cars and systems. The fact that German civil cars are probably the best has almost nothing to do with race cars. The latter are separate entities but everybody is hush hush about. So, what you say is not 100% correct. Besides, race results depend on the driver skills and team work, and even an element of luck is present during race events.

That fucking pit time rule is absolute bullshit! Get them in and back out as fast as possible. I wonder if it makes pit crews feel like there’s no need being good in their chosen profession if there’s no need to rush 🤷♂️
@sonoafafayon2 жыл бұрын
It allows teams with less money to compete on an equal level to teams that can spend plenty of money training their pit crew all the time. For a regional series that is aimed at gentlemen drivers, it makes a lot of sense.
