Two considerations: first, the real miracle is that we have high-quality footage of this event, capturing the essence of years we will never experience again. The audience, in my opinion, doesn’t fully realize what they are witnessing or being a part of. Second, on stage, between the outfits, accessories, effects, and choreography, there’s maybe $5,000 at most... Today, if someone like Madonna doesn’t have 10 Versace dresses, 80 dancers with 300 costumes, 5,000 sound effects, giant screens, and equipment worth 2-3 million euros, they won’t even step on stage. Here, instead, we have 100% live, 100% heart, and 100% sweat.

Her fanbase would have been a lot larger if she didn't completely alienate men. I lived through the 80's and I remember Madonna being very much for girls only while her main competitor in the pop music business (Michael Jackson) appealed to men and women equally, and had a much larger following as a result.

This concert and one on Wembley stadium, were simultaneously broadcasted on almost 95% of TV sets in the world. This is something so amazing, never achieved before, and certainly could not be achieved even close nowadays. I was living in a socialist country in eastern Europe, with only two channels, state owned, and they broadcast it live. I was 10 and watched some great live performances for the first time, no stars were doing concerts in East Europe then. Madonna’s performance is amazing, her stage presence is so mesmerizing, she was a star even then, but you could see she was becoming world famous.

Madonna in a live performance is out of this world. In this live aid performance she raises the bar so high that it is practically impossible for any modern female singer to match the non stop dancing while singing without autotune 🔥🔥🔥. Amazing breath control. If any of these modern female singers tries this without auto tune singing and dancing nonstop and then compare this to this live performance you will then appreciate the greatness of this singer. Madonna is simply the best.

This was all live vocals. No backing track. She truly is underated as a singer. Whenever there's a best singers list she's never there. Its all about hitting the highest notes and vocal gymnastics but its never about singing with real physical techniques like this. And besides, her range from singing pop, dance, r&b, jazz, rock, folk, and standards is as varied as that of Linda Ronstadt's anthology.
