"Holiday" is a song by American singer Madonna from her self-titled debut album (1983). It was written by Curtis Hudson and Lisa Stevens-Crowder for their own musical act Pure Energy, and produced by John "Jellybean" Benitez. Hudson came up with the lyrics of the song while watching negative news on television, and together with Stevens-Crowder worked on the music. They recorded a demo, which was turned down by their label Prism Records. Afterwards, Benitez pitched the track and offered it to several artists, including former The Supremes singer Mary Wilson, but it was rejected. I hate to break it to you but this vocal was clearly re-recorded in the studio. You can't hear her breathing at all which is very unusual for someone dancing as hard as she is. A lot of times what they do is record the vocals over again in the studio so that they can eliminate any imperfections with the sound in the venue (crowd screaming, microphone cutting out, etc). So what Madonna will do is sit in front of the TV and basically sing along to her original performance. It's very common with live concert videos that are released on DVD (or VHS.) The record company understands that these videos help sell seats at concerts and albums so they want it to be perfect. You can tell if you watch her lips closely during this performance. For comparison, watch her performance at Live Aid in 1985. She's also dancing but you can definitely hear her breathing. That was broadcast live so there would have been no way for them to record it over again.

The year was 1984. My friend won tickets to the Madonna concert in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion. We were in the third row I was 16 at the time I remember thinking I cannot believe she is dancing so much and can still sing. She was nonstop, energy and sweating like crazy but still pulled it off and sounded great. Probably went with different mascara after that tour. She killed it!

Classic Madonna this tour was to me what made what defined her career what set her career off in ways no one in this world could imagine the energy the passion just amazing absolutely not to mention Live aid around this time too her performance there equally incredible not to mention the exhaustion early in her career it was non stop not much of a break you hear in her voice I vaguely remember my mother telling me going into this tour she was sick and lost a lot of weight it’s not easy on anyone but you have to keep pushing and pushing just the way it was for most musicians this was an era of 7 days a week 5 show’s average a night at 4 hrs a show work life that to me would break me.

I was in my 20s in the 80s and back then, music videos were the coolest thing if you loved music. Only a few musicians back then were putting out music video's that simply amazed us with the quality and, quite simply, the money they put into them. Michael Jackson videos were top-notch, but so were Madonna's... I remember getting shit, shaved and showered, new clothes on to go to the disco/bar to drink and dance all night, but as I was getting ready, the TV explained that Madonna's new video, Like A Prayer would be premiering at 10 pm ...and that was enough for me to stay home that night ...just to wait for that video...and my oh my, that video did not disappoint...to this day, even though I am 65 years old and dying of throat cancer, I play that video at least twice a week. . . And I play it LOUD, my computer is hooked up to a 90-inch TV with a complete PA system running the audio. I use the subwoofer as a coffee table in this room ...

This is Cobo Arena (Hall) May 25, 1985 ..... It's the very same place where she saw David Bowie on June 22 or 23, 1974 .... She was 15 .... she says she snuck out of the house to go with her friend, and was grounded the rest of the summer for it. A recording exists of Bowie's June 22 show..... I don't believe anyone has confirmed what night Madonna went. or who her friend was.
