It may be hard for someone who didnt grow up in the 70s and the 80s to appreciate this moment. Here we got Mick Jagger on stage with Hall & Oates as his back up band along with Eddie Kendrick and David Ruffin of The Temptations as back up singers. The song after this was a duet with Tina Turner. Collaborations that crossed that many musical styles like this simply didnt happen before Live Aid. In many ways, that concert was a game changer for popular music in the years that followed.

I was at Live Aid. When Jagger went on stage it was like nothing else - except for Zeppelin who the audience went nuts for. But Jagger is a pro and was definitely the day’s best performance When he yelled “where’s Tina” they together took it up a notch. A performance for the ages.

I was 14 at the time. I am pretty sure I was not very tuned into the Live Aid event on TV. Maybe. Yet I have no memory of it.Very likely I was out delivering papers at 5:30 AM, followed by an 8 hour shift at Mc Donald's that Saturday. Making $3.65 /hr, stressed about making the new Cheddar McMelt burger. Some killer music for sure back in 85. What a great event. The world needs another massive live event. Classic rock focused would be my wish. A coming-out event for the whole world ending the dark covid times we've been in. Televise it on all streaming platforms. Set up a go fund me account. Raise money for needed charities. Mental health. Cancer. Heart Attack. Stroke. Homeless people. Poverty. Drug addiction. Whatever. Think we could all raise 1 billion? It's not unreasonable. Give us all something to feel good about. Make a monumental change. Keep the money away from greed and profit.

I think that the audio engineer (and crew) who produced the live mix did a phenomenal great job that has stood up to the test of time. Far superior to alot of the tracks from today's crew (mix wise).
