It is a sacrilege for the new country singers to call themselves “country “ when you compare them to real artists like Merle Haggard.
@pgaboratwood46963 жыл бұрын
Right on! It’s too bad most of the the more recent artists have been defining themselves as country, and that record companies feel they only have to promote and radio play these rock n roll jumping around and screaming artists in order to attract the youth. They could at least mix it up to show the newer additions what good listening is. Carrie Underwood is an outstanding singer but is about as much country as Taylor Swift wasn’t and who at least made an honest switch.
@sherrystone20463 жыл бұрын
@@pgaboratwood4696 I wish the older true country artists would start a new music industry and promote the young stars that are truly country. It is so hard for them to get a start but if people like Dolly, George Strait, and Allen Jackson would support and promote them, I think it could make a great difference.

Get ready for a great journey. I was listening to Merle when I was just a young kid because my dad was a fan. After my "rebel" days of rock and roll in my teen years I quickly became a solid fan of Merle. Still to this day I find songs that, even though I had heard before, I find new meaning in. Ask me what my favorite Merle Haggard song is and I'll tell you "All of them". I was able to go see him in concert in Branson, MO. , before his death. I was about 35 years old and surrounded by much older people. But when Merle came on stage I cried like a baby. I did the same the day he died. Don't just listen to his music. Hear it and feel it. It's some of the greatest music ever made.

@@dgoddard Hi Don. Thanks for sharing this with me. It must of been amazing to see Merle perform live! A fantastic memory you'll always cherish. I get what you mean when you say you feel his music. It certainly has something unique that brings out a lot of emotions. I read his book recently and it was so good to learn about his life journey coming from the man himself. I recommend it if you've not read it yet . A legend without a doubt.

How can he know exactly how I feel about my breakup? His lyrics are completely the thoughts in my head. It's either he's a mind reader or he's simply sympathetic and empathetic, which falls in line with his own life troubles and his artistic streak. And while I am sorry for his suffering he can't begin to know how much he's helped me and so many others.

Merle, Willie, and Freddy Powers wrote this during Merle's divorce. This is Merle's arrangement: I'll probably never see you eye to eye again This letter's meant to be my last farewell But you need to under-stand I'm nearly crazy You need to know my life has gone to hell Write me back and tell me why it ended Send a letter that I can show my heart I'll be somewhere between "I love you" and what you're feeling now Looking for a place to fall apart Looking for a place to fall apart Trying to find a place that I can leave my heart I need to be somewhere hiding when I feel the teardrops start Looking for a place to fall a-part I can't seem to justify your leaving me I'm bewildered as to how it all came down I thought everything was fine until your phone call The call that turned my world around Send me word and tell me why it ended I need some final proof to show my heart I'll be somewhere between "I love you" and what you're feeling now Looking for a place to fall apart - SOLO - Looking for a place to fall apart Trying to find a place that I can leave my heart I need to be somewhere hiding when I feel the teardrops start Looking for a place to fall apart
