they all sound much the same though. i love his playing, i love his skill an enthusiasm, but, it's a tommy song at the end of the day. i've listened to this track a zillion times cos i LOVE IT LOVE IT, but, he suffers from being human.

go to my channel and listen "ghost woman" cos i wanted so much to write a song in the vein of mombasa and that was the best i could do, and tommy comes along a week later and writes THIS, fantastic. lovely, descriptive song. but most of what he does is based on something else he does, or something someone else does. s we all do, but, that means he's doing what we all do. deriving.

I keep coming back to this performance. Look at the energy in that room. I've seen a few other guitarists play that stage and none can command the energy from the audience that Tommy can.

i must've watched this a zillion times, i wrote my first ever song in thirty years of playing, for my girlfriend and i had hoped it would have an african feel to it, i was quite happy with the end result (on my channel - ghost woman if yer interested) then i felt suicidal when i heard this. this is what i imagined i was writing. but obviously not.

One of the greatest, if not, the greatest guitarists to grace the planet. I'm a big fan of Chet, Doyle Dykes, EVH, Vai, Satch, YJM, DiMeola, D'jango,Johnny Hiland and of course, Jimi. I think my taste is diverse, I've been playing for 45 years in a multitude of styles, electric, acoustic and pounding my head on the floor trying to find that "tone". Just wanted to share and if any young players read this post, practice, practice, practice. After 45 years, I practice at least 4 hours a day.

Watching Tommy perform reminds me a lot of the late Victor Borge. Both are masters of their chosen instrument, AND both are master showmen. There are few performers today that can match their ability to interact and engage with their audiences.

Tommy has numerous Maton guitars but this seems to be his favorite. If anyone asks you if a Maton can be played hard and maintain tuning, tell them to watch this video! The man is unbelievable!
