Most startup employee in IT earn 4-5x than other. They knew what they were in for. If funding doesnt comes. Jobs cant be saved. Even companies are dying. You cannot make business profitable by law. Most Indian startups were ecommerce of some app and most of them where overvalued. This is just correction happening. When massive hiring was done by startup most IT employee knew that this is hiring to show VC's. Infact most of IT boom in last few year was inflation and it correcting now. I mean Zomato a food delivery platfrom with rented offices is as big as Tata motor a compnay with 100s of showroom and multiple factories. R&D centers and it produces real tangible goods. The whole of India trying to bank on IT for last 20-25 years and shunning manufacturing is showing results.

On the other side, when an employee get a job in India he/she jumps often in a year or 2 for better pay without thinking much of the morale of the prior employer. Even while holding an offer in hand till the day of joining the company the HR will be praying the employee didn't send a mail he/she got a better offer... If those are justified with we are doing business so we should take opportunity then they are doing the same The US doesn't give job protection like a woman claimed here. There also its hire and fire so if u r competitive then no problem else same like India In Europe, there is a portion of the income tax cut going to a fund to protect us in case there is a job loss but its not free.. its from whole countries employees salary itself so ask yourself will u be ok if this is done in India ? Or complain again about the additional tax then.. ? Nothing ever in the world is free, including job security and health insurance even in the west... But if firing immediately in the western countries we will atleast get good severence package unlike in india where the HR threat the employee to leave else they will leave a bad remark in the experience letter.. now that is typical Indian cheap attitude

Why are they surprised? Maybe because they are new to the IT industry or just young who thought IT industry is like a good paying Indian government job. Possibly because they thought the boom will never end and they will keep living in their utopia. Anyone who has seen/ experienced the 2000 Dot Com crash and the slaughter that ensued after the crash across the industry knows whenever US interest rate rises and sustains at those higher levels, mass scale layoffs and bankruptcy happen. I was a new graduate and had experienced the massacre early on in my career. So, old veterans who are joked about in the industry know how the IT/ startup industry operates. When my son joined the industry in 2018, I only had one advice for him, keep your expenses low and save as much as possible. Don't look at your peers buying fancy cars, bags, & smartphones, they are fools who have no idea how the industry works. The industry can take you to the skies and in a matter of a second crush you down to hell.

HR that are not an HR but some Pitty people who barely can understand Human Resources and at the end of the are comparing their own work with an Engineer alongside the comparison of salary too 3. While I am in no way condoning the poor planning, if it were the case that caused the firing, but the basic premise of this video is wrong. They are expecting startups to be like govt. jobs - permanent jobs, but with 10 times the salary. This is the nature of the beast, you are paid the premium for the risk. How many have asked the question when mindless recruitments are done? Do the employees complain about the exorbitant salaries they have been hired at? How often have these employess thought if their pay is commensurate with their skills or effort put? At some point of time water will find its level and excess would spill over.

Yea firing is bad. I myself have been a victim and know about the mental depression. But people who think that we need labour laws like France are wrong. If you are not givng flexibility to companies in firing, then hiring will also lessen. Europe, thats why has less jobs and innovative companies than USA. One thing which i demand is govt reduce notice period to 45 days. This way, conpanies cannot exploit employees because they can fire immediately, but employees are stuck if they resign. Here the anomaly can be rectified.
@abhishek_gupta199019 күн бұрын
Employees also share some responsibility when they choose to switch jobs for just a 10% higher compensation, opting for companies that are burning cash instead of those that have been patiently building sustainable businesses over the long term. And if you say you can’t differentiate between cash-burning startups and well-managed ones, better join big companies and stick with them (but then big cos are boring will be your next complaint)

I have zero sympathy for these jokers of employees. They took these high paying jobs and were showing off everywhere and did not care to properly manage the money they were getting! you made your bed now lie in it.

Indians love to always compare with western countries but fail to realize that mass layoffs are a very common thing in the same western countries. We Indians are overreacting because for decades we have lived and worked in a safe cocoon of government jobs or low wage domestic companies.

Reminder: These are the same employees who had been roaring that - pay peanuts you will get monkeys. Treat us as per market.

The same employee who cry foul won't shed a tear when a startup closes down. The cry babies need to work harder to be retained. There is no obligation on behalf of employer to retain them. If so-called talent has a right to switch whenever they want, employers have the right to fire them at their wish. Reality is most of the employees don't care a shit about their own company.
@AvikNayak_16 күн бұрын
Why would they though? They are just there to do the work and get paid. It's not like they own the company.

Hear me out, layoffs are actually good in the larger picture. Hope is that skilled folks will easily get their next job and companies become healthier. Companies are fighting for their survival and either they layoff 10% or close the company and 100% become jobless Also profits aren't evil. No employee will say no to a hike, but apparently the profits from which they're derived is evil. If the discussion is nuanced on split and sustainability, that makes sense. But its a case by case thing, nothing the govt should try to interfere in
@navneetyadav527518 күн бұрын
Completely incorrect thoughts of yours. Employees are saying no to hoke despite having all time high profits and revenue.
@prakashr701118 күн бұрын
@navneetyadav5275 It's all relative. If your FD gives you 7.5% interest and the company gives 10%, then the investors will obviously ask for more profits. In 2021, didn't the same companies go crazy with massive hikes especially for new hires, don't remember folks asking people to accept lower offers. Definitely there will be corporate greed or investor greed but how do you differentiate between survival and greed. 20% is survival, but 25 is greed ?
@navneetyadav527518 күн бұрын
@@prakashr7011 who told you company has given hike even nagorro has lesser there package now. Except for a handful of people everything is the same and now the organisation has stopped hiring you can check on their career page they are doing sub vendor for each and every thing.

Well 100% no changes will happen to labor law, govt nor company. However, top talents definitely leave this country. Since, ethics, security nor taxation are more goons or bullys rather then just in misconception of a leader in the end they and their company will end. Automation great! They should completely conquer 75% jobs and process. Then economy will be doomed. Remember your employees are customer of other company it maybe products or services once people have no money then they stop all non needy things. Hope this will realize this system is made by human. Who ever has brought this automation concept must don't know economic. Just for cost cutting they are destroying economy
