Insurance coverage also affects Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. My insurance has tripled in the last three years to help pay for hurricanes and wildfires on the coasts (that’s what my agent tells me every time I complain about the increases) to the point I will have to drop it if it raises to rebuild houses and schools and golf courses where I’ve never been. I feel horrible for all the deaths and damages and assets lost but something has to change. I believe in helping others in their time of need but please spend the money to build your houses and infrastructure to withstand what your chosen states throw at you. The technology is there, I’ve seen it. Use it to protect yourselves going forward and maybe these tragedies will be a thing of the past.

Lack of water, dry season, very windy. The wind is making is incredibly difficult to fight even with water. If you read any great fires in history they spread incredibly fast and out of control because of wind spreading embers to other places. Citizens have abandoned their cars, making it difficult for firefighters to even get around. Funnily enough there was recently a video on youtube blowing up on how two billionaires own pretty much all of California's water. What you also have to remember though is that LA would basically be a desert without humans, so water was never a bountiful thing compared to other parts of the US.

I think every neighborhood in these small areas especially where there’s hills should start having a volunteer fire department that can put out small fires quickly before they spread because the first 15 minutes is really the crucial time and sometimes it takes the fire department five or 10 minutes just to get up the hill so I would think if they lived on a hill and you had a reservoir that had water in it or even a big tank and you had some pipes running down to let’s say every third block of the neighborhood and then you have a 200 foot hose in a box sitting there such that if there is a fire the neighbors can grab it and turn the water on and get three or four guys to get hold the hose And start attacking that fire before the fire department gets there.

In the gold rush period, Tassmanian blue gums were introduced, these trees are eucalyptus trees and have a high level of oil in their leaves and they burn for a long time, the wind carries these leaves for long distances causing more fires. A lot of people were not prepared for this. They may have to sell their property and never return. You may not believe it, but I can bet some don't have current insurance. Even if they do and rebuild, the rates will become higher because of the risk of reoccurrence.
