Do you tonify or sedate those points? GB-34, LV3, LV13, LV14, SJ-6, PC6? Do you needle them all at once or just few of them?

hi :) theoretically you would sedate a FULL pattern and tonify an EMPTY pattern... but liver yang rising is a full/empty pattern, so your treatment principle is both to subdue the excess of liver yang and NOURISH yin or nourish blood depending on the root cause

What is the reason for the liver pathology nomenclature? Is it related to Yin/Yang Pathology, i.e. Full-Heat=Liver Full Patterns, Empty Heat=Empty Liver Patterns. A liver Full Pattern would mean that all of the patterns that fall into this category have the commonality of being caused by only Yin or Yang deficiency or excess and not the result of Yin or Yang vacuity?

Eight principles are Full, Empty, excess, deficiency, hot, cold, yin, yang - and they help to classify all presentations.. it's the basics and the building blocks for all pathology/presentations- and they aren't EITHER OR statements, every pathology may have elements of full and empty or even heat and cold.. but besides that full patterns generally mean that there is the presence of a pathogenic factor and the body's qi is sufficient to fight against it, empty on the other hand means there's a deficiency but not necessarily the presence of a pathogenic factor - 8 principles can be very complicated but is one of the basic principles we first learn in Acupuncture !

@@studyacupuncturewithme I never knew full,empty was part of the eight principles. Internal, External, Hot, Cold, Excess, Deficient, Yin,Yang. Empty would be external and Full would be internal. Thanks, this was helpful
