You need a ramp for the dog to get in and out. One that lifts off and hangs on the back of the door or a foldable one. You can buy them online for dogs to get in the car boot.

Hi from Australia. Coming from someone who has travelled a lot. Just be mindful that countries have their own rules about bringing in animals. If your going through East Asian countries such as Thailand. Unfortunately you will not be able to bring Red into Australia after that. Make sure countries you are travelling through are not on the list that will prohibit you from bringing in Red. Also bringing him into Oz is time consuming and expensive and he will have to be quarantined for 10 days in a facility. Just wanting to make you aware so you are prepared. Good luck. ETA: The process to bring a dog into Oz must start 7 months prior. The main factor is that Australia requires your pet to have a rabies neutralising antibody titre test at least 180 days before travelling to Australia. And this test needs to be done 3-4 weeks after your pet is vaccinated for rabies. He will also need a heap of vaccinations and blood work.

I live in Brisbane, Australia and a saw a setup very similar to this in the carpark of a local shopping centre. Owners were from Germany and over the previous two years had driven from their home through Europe, the Middle East, India, Thailand and Malaysia before driving it onto a cargo ship bound for Sydney at Singapore. What a life for the adventurous. I was so impressed, I decided to buy a 12.5m coach and convert it into a motorhome with the aim of travelling Australia. As I write this, the conversion is 95% complete, and we're on our first official holiday in it-albeit 50km from home to see that everything works the way it should.
@keepitreal1547 Жыл бұрын
That's fantastic, I hope all goes well & enjoy every minute. Having been looking at motorhomes & campers this past few months, I'm now ready to buy & go on my own adventure. I'm just undecided on a purpose built modern motorhome by a well known brand, or a self made, older, rough, tough & ready more stealth truckcamper conversion. The modern motorhome being 3x the price with all home comforts, the older robust home on wheels being something I wouldn't need to be too protective of. Decisions, decisions.
@doncoleman4938 Жыл бұрын
@@keepitreal1547 From personal experience, may I put forward the following-many self-made ones aren't constructed that well. If you do decide on a home-made conversion, make sure that the workmanship is top notch. many sell unfinished projects cheap, after being overwhelmed by the real costs. I think we've spent about $500 on sealants alone on ours. Ensure that the fittings will survive a road trip, especially plumbing behind wall. Building a motorhome is not the same always as building a house. You need to compensate for constant vibrations with fittings. However, the advantage is that it's easy enough and cheap enough to modify it to suit your tastes. A purpose-built motorhome will be professional built and might even come with a warranty. We built our own mainly because we needed a larger shower to accommodate my wife's disability, a larger kitchen and didn't need bunks for children etc. Nothing purpose built suited us at the time.

Hello from Australia and wishing you well. A couple of tips from a seasoned traveller in Australia. 1. Be mindful of height clearance when trying to access tracks to camping spots. 2. Have you thought about making a ramp for the dog to get in and out of the truck? 3. Red looks like a beautiful dog but be aware you will not be allowed to access National Parks or Conservation Parks with an animal on board in Australia. Hoping you have a great time. Freedom is precious. 🦋

Yes! height restriction in most areas. 4.2mts? is standard but there are always surprise low bridges which strike the unaware.

I got into uni, got a degree, went gigging with my fave band, took myself to Barcelona, Greece and Amsterdam not in a truck tho. Met so many interesting people too. You will have a great time. If you find yourself being sentimental, have a cry, but you know you’ve opened the door to a new life with amazing potential and fun. Take care and keep filming for us!

I love the fact Bobby is taking Red with him, but Australia has very strict quarantine rules which WILL be an issue. I’d strongly suggest looking into what is required for getting a dog into Australia now rather than just winging it! Red could well end up in quarantine for some time at Bobby’s expense on arrival otherwise. Apart from that, I love the sentiment and the truck!

Hello! Just thought i'd offer some help about bringing your dog into australia. A lot of people don't know that all animals entering australia have to go through a 6-month quarantine, but if you're flying from certain SE asian countries (malaysia i know for sure) there is a blanket ban on bringing pets with you. You can get around this by having them quarantine in New Zealand first, and then all animals from New Zealand are allowed automatic access to australia without quarantine. So if you're having trouble getting your dog into australia, you might want to consider doing a trip around new zealand first. There are also a lot of vaccinations and tests that need to be done. It's very hard and expensive but it's doable :) It cost me 18k aud to get my dog from malaysia to perth
@mareef9617 Жыл бұрын
Definitely an option... But the rules to get a dog into NZ are also very very strict and require vet certificates, vaccinations and quarantine on arrival. It is not cheap and your paperwork must be 100% correct. I would recommend talking to an pet import agent if you are serious about this as an option.
@PigeonBotherer Жыл бұрын
@@mareef9617 Well obviously i know that, since i said i brought my dog in 🤣 i didn't pay 18k and send him to NZ so he could be more cultured and sample the cuisine, maree
@mareef9617 Жыл бұрын
Keep your pants on matey potatey. You kind of implied that it was an easy option, but expensive. It's not. I worked at the border for 15 years, in this field, and have seen it go wrong many many times through lack of knowledge and prep... Hence my advice to the chanel ownerl (not you) to use a pet import agent.
@jujuoliver6959 Жыл бұрын
I was watching this quite interested but then was thinking hang on it's not that easy to take pets to certain countries especially Australia and New Zealand too, I would hate him to get so far and have to leave the poor dog somewhere for months.
@PigeonBotherer Жыл бұрын
@@jujuoliver6959 Yeah :(( it's a very long and expensive process, and sometimes your doggi can be denied entry altogether. It's upsetting but the ecosystems in australia and new zealand are extremely fragile, so it's necessary. A lot of expats don't realise this when they move overseas temporarily, so they will adopt puppies and kittens and then have to abandon them when they move back home
