I like that Shearer chooses to remain quiet on his beef with Owen. Owen exposed himself when he told the stories in that book and Shearer was right to respond but Owen just continued to speak about it in interviews and expose himself more. Besides, I think Shearer knows that most people are on his side anyway so he doesn't need to explain what went on and that incident is only a mere fraction of his legacy.

Thinking of Michael Owen, I have seen some great strikers who got bad injuries at a young age and just drifted away. Prbably the best of them was Derek Dooley but that was tragic. More recently I can think of Steve Moran of Southampton, a lightening fast striker who set Division One alight and the late Gary Shaw of Aston Villa. And you could even mention Ian Wallace, Peter Ward, Kevin Reeves and Justin Fashanu.

It always makes me laugh how Gerrard seems to trigger rival fans. He wasn't a big head, if anything he's a bore, he won a few trophies, but not as many as others of that era, but for some reason there seems to be envy or bitterness towards him. Maybe it's the fact so many top players said he was the best midfielder of that era, or the comparisons with Lampard and Scholes riles fans of those clubs? The fact he still gets sung about shows how deep the trigger was. Hopeless manager but as a player he carried that team at times. I preferred King Kenny myself but the reactions to Gerrard do amuse me😄

Keep TAA (age) & VVD (age and speed are not the most important factor for his position, he's best in his position and not many around who can do so well so hard to find replacement) and let Salah go (age means he will lose speed which is important for his position and it's easier to look for replacement for his position).
