Offices in the financial district may be quite important to the functioning of society.

@@Cartoonman154 but the city is for a different type of financial services to Canary Wharf. You probably could do quant work from home. But it’s unlikely as you need proximity to the exchanges for HFT.

Did you think to also talk to any of the groups who raised concerns with the previous design to see if any of it was actually addressed? Because all this seems like a very minor tweak and a lot of the big problems are still there. That might be a little more responsible than just parroting the people behind the scheme like last time.

@@danh5637 The fact that it is historically significant means the people who protect our heritage have a say. The fact that it is a major rail termini means passages have a say. Regardless of individual opinions, more opinions count than the people who want to profit off of building on top of it.
@danh5637Ай бұрын
@ it’s not historically significant. It’s not architecturally important in any way. It’s not a grand central station. It’s essentially a glorified awning. And just because it’s a rail terminal does not confer property rights to the public. And as for people that “project our heritage” it’s mostly a racket where they extort the owners to remove their objections. Much the same with planing in general, it’s a racket.

The Victorian architecture, especially those eye-sore brick walls (see 1.02) are absolutely vile. The Victorian Meccano set over the platforms is not much better. Sweep it away and start again.
