Thank you for your response. It's nice to hear from someone who actually has experience. How big is your operation - how many pigs do you raise?

Sows look so comphy with those tall stalls and air blowing on them constantly. I know spending months on a concrete floor with such a narrow space that my legs stick through another's stall is the best way to rest when pregnant . Nothing like abject misery and total boredom to keep the masses calm.

If it was up to me these guys would be living inside those cages.

We have cooperartive from some small farmers. For each one the pigs are just a small part in the puzzle from different kind of animals. The moment we sell about 200 pigs the year. Yes it seams to be a really small number, but think that we earn about 400-500$ each pig. Earn, not turn-over. I started it, worked out a way how to raise them in a good way and with the best meat quality. And believe me, you get the best meat quality just when they have a good live...

If this were dogs, it would be shut down immediately. This is genocide and nothing less. I have personally met sows in these stalls. They are very obviously frustrated in these cages. They can be seen screaming, banging their heads on the metal bars out of frustration and biting the cages. Stop trying to justify animal abuse! This is sick.

The argumentation to use these mechanisms are of a cruel mentality unimaginable .animals have feeelings .. What shame of people, only to eat something that has taste .. we are the cancer of mother nature ..

How do you know these things? Do you own a pig farm? Do you work on one? Have you ever studied pigs? Do you have a degree in animal behavior? What is your area of expertise?

Food comes from farms, but this is not a farm, it's an assembly line. The protagonist talks about multi-generational farmers but none of the previous generations raised pigs like this and they carried on. I'm not a vegetarian and has bacon for breakfast yesterday. I grew up in the country. We didn't raise pigs but I had friends that did. None of them lived in such unhealthy conditions as this. I think the meat was healthier and better too. Time to end assembly line farming.

El Gato, The CatsEye best way to end this is to stop supporting it. If you eat meat then it is most likely coming from an intensive system like this. We are healthier and better off without animal products, there are vegan versions of juat about every food type so why not switch today!
