It's the start of Winter here in Texas, and the weather has been colder than usual. I'm starting this adventure way later into the afternoon. If I catch any fish, it will be a bonus. Blue bird skies, very high pressure, but being on the water when there is a break from the cold is all that matters. Still breaking in the long rod and getting use to it. I get a lot more feel using a 1/2 oz pegged egg weight. This also helps me track the bait a lot better and adjust when the boat is moving. The late start also had me curious if I could bring in a few fish at night, and get them to bite. Overall fun fishing adventure. Almost forgot how fun and peaceful fishing at night can be. ENJOY

Thank you sir, still looking for a 15 incher out here. I’m planning on doing a bass tournament with crappie jigs, haha. Keep catching those huge slabs!

Great video as always. Glad to see you didn't let the cold mornings keep you off the water.

Carlos you might be getting a vacuum when fueling. Sometimes if you turn the fuel nozzle backwards it will work. Nice video!

Thanks for the tip, it has something to do with a sealed fuel system for sure.

your boat has a gas vent. it should have a one way valve on the end of it that releases pressure as you add fuel to the tank, and to allow for expansion from warm temperature.. the little vent valve on your hose is likely clogged or malfunctioning and not releasing the pressure.. dirt daubers like to build thier rock hard mud nests in hoses for some reason. also man those fish were deep,. had to be a blast reeling them in. nice catches on the bass as well . those smallmouth like to hang out near the dam and really fight hard. .right in front of the dam theres alot of smaller rocks on the bottom that go pretty far out and lots of smallmouth bass hang out there too. havent been on that end of the lake in several years.. thanks for another great vid!

I want to do some more searching for the issue. I’ll check those areas. Those fish were pretty deep. I need to rig up some short rods with heavier weight, and look for roamers. Thanks

we went today and checked alot of areas, and it was brutally tough,, 2 big hybrids, 8 white bass and no crappie.. I usually never fish the next day or second day after a cold front, especially if its a bluebird clear sky day with heavily fluctuating barometric pressure.. but with rain and wind moving into our area soon, I went when I could.. the single transient fish were on the move, and wouldnt even acknowledge a bait dropped on them. @@CarlosPadillaCentex

That’s awesome, hybrids are the most exciting fish to fight. Yeah it’s pretty random where crappie are right now. I was always searching for schools of them. Now it’s pretty much 1’s and 2’s. I think it’s pretty fun catching one then looking for the next one. So many acres out there, and one tiny jig in the water. Hopefully they get more aggressive.

mornings after bright moon nights, and days after cold fronts are always tough for me on central texas lakes..,. it seems like the fish scatter out along the 100s of thousands of trees in the lake, get tight up against it, and lock thier jaws shut,, the few we catch are more of a reaction bite, because the jig went right in thier faces and they made a split second decision to bite the jig,, and many times thats exactly what they do.,, they dont swallow it, they just nip at it and we set the hook at the right time and hook them.. I saw something interesting on livescope, that I want to see if you have noticed as well.. on post coldfront days, when they refuse to bite, thier sonar return seems very dim,, they dont glow the bright white blob like they do when I find them fired up on brush or timber.,, it is well known that sonar picks up the air bladder in a fishes stomach,, how the new technology projects the image on the screen in digital processes I have no clue,, but heres my theory,, if the fish has its air bladder deflated, due to increases or large variances in barometric pressure in a short period, and all of the fish on the lake are doing the same thing, this may be a very good clue on deciding which fish are willing to bite or not,, every area we checked, they all looked the same,, very dim,, we adjusted our settings several times on livescope, and it made no difference... what are your thoughts ? @@CarlosPadillaCentex

I like all the crucial thinking on this subject. Honestly I might just chop a 1/4inch or 1/2 off every jig from now on. Even if they nip it, they will get a hook. It would be more like a snack after dinner. My gain is usually at 76% during the day, so everything glows very bright. Small minnows should trigger them. If I show a lot of fish the jig and they don’t bite, I’ll live bait sometimes.

Where did you get that directional pointer on your livescope pole (green)?

Sawzall blade. Shaped it a little bit then bent it. Painted it and it’s just on there with electrical tape.

It’s a Seelite Seefish 2.0. If you plan on getting one, get the solid aluminum knob for it and the new style locking collar. Those parts did break on me after a few years.
