As usual, I receive my Sunday morning chuckles from you two. Thanks 🙏 BTW I live in rural Issan and there’s a 5 year old modern, 200 sq meter ranch style house near my place that has never been lived in since an elderly couple that built the house died within 1 month after they moved in ( 2 weeks apart). No family member will move into this well built house because they think it’s haunted. They now use the small yard around it for vegetable gardening. The locals in Isaan are especially superstitious. I swear everyone believes in ghosts. And when a family member or close friend passes away, many of them will have “seen” the spirit while dreaming or at night. I guess my “radar” doesn’t have the correct frequency to see ghosts. 😮

I was listening to Steve say he doesn't want or need a partner at his age. I'm 5 years younger and already reached that decision. But, this week my 75 year old neighbor was found dead in his house. When I was a kid, my family was renting an old mansion in BKK. One stormy summer night at supper, we heard a large crash from upstairs followed by the lights going out. Two of my younger brothers and I went upstairs to investigate the source of the large crashing sound. It was dark and all we had for a source of light was a small cheap mini flashlight and my E.T. toy that had a red lit up finger, when turned on. 😅 The lighting was enough to navigate through the stairways leading upstairs. Upon entering the attic on the top floor, we immediately saw the large chandelier laying on the floor with the crystal shards scattered everywhere on the floor. The room was intermittently lit up from the lightning coming from outside through the many windows. As I approached the center of the room towards the chandelier, I paused for a moment feeling very weird. My whole body felt tingly, especially the back of my neck...goosebumps. I took a deep breath and I could see my breath when I exhaled, it felt very much like when I often stood in front of the open freezer door of refrigerator. By this time, my eyes have somewhat adjusted to the low lighting conditions. My eyes were drawn to top far corner of the room, where there appeared to be a dark mass of something like fog or smoke. The shadowy form seemed to be alive and moving. At that point, I had lost my curiosity and felt sudden fear and we immediately bolted towards the stairs and ran back downstairs. I explained to my dad what I saw and he contacted a priest the following day to perform some rites on the entire property. A few months later, we moved out of that house. I never believed in ghosts, spirits, or demons when I was a kid until that incident. Ever since then, I'm convinced that the paranormal exists...and I have no desire to ever have another encounter.

And steal the spotlight from Steve?! I don’t think so! To get all three people in the same place at the same time is a major logistical challenge - believe me. And doing it remotely online simply doesn’t work. If it happened, and the right person came along, we could look at that. But, although it sounds easy maths (2+1), it’s actually a lot harder -technically, planning, number of cameras, etc etc etc - for an endeavour that doesn’t generate any income. We do it for fun. But we’re all ears for a suggestion.

Not every property. Certainly where I live, where the population is about 30% Muslim, there are relatively few of them. I've lived in two homes on Turtle Beach and neither had a spirit house. My wife and I signed a lease for a house, and agreed on a Sunday move-in date. But the day before moving in, suddenly excuses started happening and a request to change the day to Monday. The problem was that I had work on Monday, but was free on Sunday, which is why we agreed on moving on Sunday. I was furious and insistent that they let us move into this empty house on Sunday as we agreed, even becoming furious on the phone, but they wouldn't budge, even would have let the deal fall through. My wife finally talked me down and let me know that this must have been a superstitious thing, that they must have consulted an astrologer who told them they needed to switch the day to Monday. So I couldn't be there for moving day.

I almost forgot: we had already signed the lease, and the landlord did too, specifying the Sunday move-in date as the first day of the lease. So we were PAYING rent for a day we weren't gonna be allowed to enter the house. And they would just not own up to the reason they were doing this.

Ha ha, maybe if she's got big tts, that made me chuckle for a few minutes. My Thai wife loves the thai soaps but is so scared of the ghosts 😅 As for the superstition, we're looking to move house and any properties have to be checked for inauspicious house numbers...🤪 Whereas I am happy to live at number 13. Apparently, hundreds of years ago it was considered to be a lucky number! I just can't remember why.

meuang / เหมือง as in thai meuang ท้ายเหมือง is pronounced with a rising tone. The word for city/เมือง is pronounced with a mid tone.

I know an Issan woman named Vanida who has property near Khon Kaen. The property caretaker called her to say he could not get to the property because a big cobra was blocking the road. The woman told him to tell the snake that Vanida said go away. The snake went away. The caretaker still believes that Vanida has power over snakes.

I would suppose if one had dementia and wanted to stay in Thailand and did not have the facilities to sign documents, a medical visa could be applied for. Whether or not the Thai government wants relatives dumping shiploads of dementing farang on their door is another question.

Hi Tim (the one on the left) I watch the program every week after finding this channel through Steve Rosse with an E! You mentioned that you’ve not touched alcohol or other substances in your life. Could you elaborate on how as an Aussie and a Yachtie, you have managed to achieve this most remarkable feat? Steve, Is it true you no longer visit your neighbour for sunsets? Regards Glenn

Not drinking, smoking etc seems entirely normal to me. I’ve been to plenty of pubs and parties in my life but never felt even slightly inclined to imbibe. I have zero problem with people that do, although I don’t allow people to smoke around me. But they can smoke their head off for all I care in their own space. I find it equally intriguing that people would want to spent copious amounts of money on these mind-altering substances. But if they get joy and a buzz out it, great!

@@timnewtontoday I envy you. A guy named Lars Pedersen introduced me to cigarettes in 1974 and many times I've dreamed about finding him and punching him in the mouth. (Not really, he was a great friend, but I wish I didn't smoke cigarettes.)
