I am 48 and work 100% remotely in finance. I make about $200k/year. Although my job can be stressful, being able to work fully remotely is a blessing. Most companies are not offering fully remote work anymore. I also own 4 condos in Boston that I rent out and one in Cape Cod so I'm sort of a hybrid investor and corporate employee. I completely agree with you that being able to work remotely and somewhat on your own schedule is the best. Doing work that you are passionate about is a bonus. I'm not really passionate about my work but you do get the "golden handcuffs" in corporate america when you work in one of the higher paying industries like tech, finance or management consulting as you get promoted and move up the corporate ladder. It's best to quit and pursue your own business doing something you are passionate about if you can make a good living from it. I still don't know what I am passionate about from a work perspective but I definitely plan on retiring early like in 3-5 years and start traveling more and enjoying life. Remember also to ALWAYS save and invest a portion of what you make into well diversified safe investments that will grow like index funds and make that a habit like brushing your teeth every day. Very very important to achieving financial independence at a young age.

Totally agree, we both experienced the golden handcuffs as well in our corporate jobs! We both took a chance with our businesses and are glad we did 😊

That’s an impressive career and investment strategy you’ve got going! I’m curious-what specific area of finance do you focus on? I’m just starting out in the field, particularly in backend operations, so I’d love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have for someone new to the industry.

@@itsnicewithyou There's more things to do here in Cancun. I a social media page here in Cancun which I attend press conference and events. I take trips to Tulum whenever I need to attend events there or visit friends.

Glad you guys are settling in. That’s an interesting career with recruiting and social media. It’s inspiring seeing you guys perusing the entrepreneurial route. Ted’s Bulletin is a great spot, I enjoy the pop tarts from there. I’m in the Marine Corps and work for Live Nation as a production assistant. My goals are to advance in the business side of the music industry. I’m still finding my niche in it. But I also want to have financial freedom.

I am transitioning from working in groceries store to forex trading and programming. I am starting my own company in January, so 2025 is going to be an interesting year for me. My main passion is programming and that has helped me allot when it comes to improving my trading skills as well. Thank you for sharing your stories!

You're NOT in the Washington DC area, you're in Loudon county, Virginia. That's 1 1/2 hours drive in traffic from Washington DC, LOL... As far as tech recruiting is concerned, it is an extremely competitive business. In tech recruiting, it is all about "connections"...

JULIA QUESTION: If you owned a home in DMV area... Would you get a residential solar system ? I only only own Teslas so I am 100% partial to Tesla for power walls IF I did do the solar gig.. Just wanted your opinion now that you are "free" from the solar industry... Thanks !
@itsnicewithyou22 күн бұрын
I am not familiar with the incentives + regulations in VA plus I’ve been in corporate & utility scale solar for the past 8 years (these rules also differ from residential solar). So I unfortunately can’t advise you properly on this !!
