Lol, I love the broke question. I mean really?? I know people who make $75,000 a year who aren't only broke, but they are also in debt 2-3 times their yearly income. When I have a $75,000 year in a vehicle, I am keeping over 90% for myself. Usually by the first or second day of the month, I've already made enough to live at least one month if not two. Money management is unrelated to choice of lifestyle. The average poor person making $75k routinely destroys their finances and their freedom, lol.

I kind of laugh at the negative critique, as many don't see the value of the information you provide, and in the manner you provide it. I take away valuable inspiration as much as information, as it comes from YOUR perspective, knowing that van life is not for EVERYONE. Monthly basics for someone who just wants to boondock is pretty simple: $200 food, $70 phone/hotspot, $40 van insurance and $40 for gas = $350. Camping out in the national forests this level of income is perfectly adequate in my opinion, very easy to live well on. That is assuming you have a solar system, a fridge, a way to wash your own clothes and preferably a water source and water filter. There's something very comforting about knowing you only need to make $15/day to sustain yourself, especially if you can make that amount online and never have to work on someone else's schedule.

$10 a day for food + $50 for car insurance + $50 for gas + $50 for gym membership is $450. That's pretty much the base I live on monthly but of course I spend money on other stuff which will vary from person to person.

10 dollars a day for food would be a lot for me. I could easily get by with 5 dollars a day if not 3-4 dollars a day. Rice and beans do wonderous things my friend. Problem I have is 200 dollars for insurance... And I wouldn't need a gym to shower. Just take a gallon of water or two ( 1-2$) to wash yourself off with using a rag. And as for laundry, utilize the space you have in your van, car, truck etc and have about 7-14 sets of clothes. Simple t shirts are your best friend and so are gym shorts. During the winter go to old Navy pick up a couple hoodies or have a leather jacket from your pervious life style or just have an extra blanket. And with those 7-14 sets of clothes, utilize them through a whole month. Yes people you can wear the same clothes for two to three days in a row without stinking unless your in a place where it's hot. You'll only need to go to the laundry mat one to two times a month. (5-10$) Gas, well, depends where you want to go. Now for me, every where. I get 50 mpg no problem, on the interstate. So that's 120 dollars for gas if I travel 75 miles a day. So basically 450... A month. Like the video states, it just depends on how the person is already set up in there current life style. I could pull this off for about 6 months then I'd have to go back to home base and work for 3-4 months and do it all over again. Now once I pay my car off, which will be in a year, I can go down to liability. Which is a lot cheaper.

I totally agree with you, I converted my truck into a camper and honestly it could be super cheap, or it could be a little more money depending where you are traveling, spending more on gas ect. I know that people who are living off social security can definitely survive living in there car with food in there belly plus paying off car expenses and explore during there time being retired. Me and my dad built up my full size bed in my car with underneath storage and the whole left side of my truck has cubby holes. It cost about $200.00 and it turned out rad and I didn't use super cheap wood either VS spending $1,000+ for someone else to build my camper for me.

Im a stagehand (meaning setting up and loading out theater and bands .production lighting sound..) during the summer i typically spent the season at an outdoor venue and was on a month long run with a specific show. And worked on thier stage crew.the remaining summer. During the fall/winter i work out of several arenas and theaters depending where the show is...i have a home but i dont see it often thats just production life. Seeing as im not tied to one specific show where a bus is provided and im left to my own accommodations mostly my car has become my home away from home especially when we work till 3 am and have to be at a new or the same venue at 8 am i really enjoy you and your concepts and tips.they are verry helpfull to stagehands who spend long/unusual time away from home venue to venue. Also ive been a musician most of my life so ive experienced vanlife early in life. But your videos are so help full..small things i never thought of.keep up good work stay safe.

If you live in California and want to stay there (or here), this is going to be a huge option to consider for many in the next ten years. Taxes, etc. increasing make this a very enticing possibility. I feel the biggest issue is will you have a place to park at night in the future. Could be a massive crackdown on this by California. You may have a very promising channel to produce in the future. My favorite way to save or build up for something is..... I would get a gift card to wherever I have my eyes on and add a little every time I get paid. Ex: for Christmas I would get a best buy gift card and keep adding. By the time Christmas comes around, I could buy something really nice. Laptop, cellphone or use it for a gift. The method gets more exciting when you get close to your goal.

I always keep what I call emergency cash in my car, just in case something happens and I need gas but none of my cards will work or I've lost em. Its come in handy, once I got to work with 3 miles to empty and when I went to leave I discovered I forgot my wallet at home but luckily I had the emergency cash to get gas so I could get home.

totally feel you about past experiences changing how you think about money. I'm glad to say i'm in a more stable position at the moment but i don't take it for granted and i definitely watch where my money is going now. I'm still young(ish) at 25 but i tend to worry a lot about what my future will look like, financially at least. I drove a reefer for 2 yrs & i worked 10+ hours 7 days a week. Some of the docks i had to back my 53' trailer in was beyond ridiculous. Mah Jongg Queen I haven't seen her answer this question yet, but to help you out, there are phone plans that have Mobile Hotspot. It's like, $10 extra a month with my plan, but comes with some unlimited plans on limited data. It allows me to redirect internet connectivity to any other device that is Bluetooth capable so when I'm on the road (I travel for work) I can always use my laptop, as long as I have my phone nearby.
