Picture a world alight in many a vibrant sights, sounds, and smells, so wondrous the sensations eclipse your life in perpetual beauty. Now, imagine if all that joy was snuffed out - this is the reality of 1.3 billion disabled people on our very planet. Paralympic swimmer and disability inclusion consultant, Jessica Smith, sheds light on the myriad of barricades and challenges people of determination face in a world tailored to able-bodied people. With her rousing call to action, Jessica aims to show us a world where accessibility is no longer an afterthought, but rather, the standard. Jessica Smith is an Australian paralympic swimmer and motivational speaker. Smith swam for Australia for seven years and represented Australia at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
