Sometimes Life gives us challenges WE Never Thought We’d have to face. It’s seems very unfair and unfortunate when these things happen to us at an advanced age….. I was thrown one of these challenges and it’s very hard. It humbled me to my core. I’m grateful for heat, clothing, food and shelter. I previously had it all!!! Life is uncertain.

In Arizona, due to the high heat of summer, tires are only safe for 4 summers. The problem is the high heat causes the tires to internally fail. The layers of the tire separate with little or no outer appearance, so you can't see the tire is about to fly apart. Even if they have lots of tread, swap before the 5th summer.

Getting your Equinox SUV worked on, to be more comfortable....and working on getting debt free ... are great and will take time. Time is good......once you are feeling more comfortable with your living in your Equinox living space, it may be that you decide this situation is great for some years. Great plan Beth! A lot of people start off in a small vehicle so just get yourself really comfortable in your current vehicle FIRST (including making sure you’re warm in winter and cool in summer). Book a motel room when you really need it and get yourself out of debt. Yes, tyres and vehicle maintenance are very important. Also get to know some people in the Vanlife community Beth, they will have really helpful ideas and become great friends xo

One of my biggest fears is going homeless and having to live out of my car... There are a lot of Widows living in the grocery store parking lots in their cars. Using Planet Fitness for showering.. YOU are in my Prayers every day ...

It makes me happy to see you be able to have some time indoors, this has been such a rough winter, and for sure being in a car is so rough. Glad you were able to get new tires, so happy that you got your thanks button so people can help you out here and there. They say there are over a million people, many elderly who are living in their vehicles right now. Many got priced out on rent and had no other options. We all need to love one another and help one another. It could be anyone that it happens to. Literally anyone. I did sleep in my car for a few nights, and it is not fun. Hopefully you can get your car a little better suited. I think taking the back seat out is a good idea. You could get a little bed back there that would be much more comfy. Best wishes from all your friends here on your channel, and thanks for sharing your situation! It lets people know that real people are dealing with this serious situation. Glad things are improving.

Hi Beth , shout out from France here. So glad to here your in the warmth and resting up. Don't know what your hostels are like there but in England and France they have some pretty good ones. You can get your own room and the ones I've been to have been lovely. Another thought is have you thought of house sitting. You can get long and short stays. Just a thought ... if you have a newer car that you trust, it can be a big gamble to trade it in a used whatever. You might not have car payments, but you could have heavy repair payments, and not be able to even use it while it is being fixed.

Glad to hear you are in a hotel while it is so cold. Beth, I had a Thor class c (new) and it was awful… cheaply built and broke first trip out. Please only consider a conversion type RV if you do it. The maintenance on a used RV is constant too ( I had a 1996 Tioga which was great but I spent thousands( not an exaggeration) keeping it going. Refrigerator , heater broke, roof started leaking ( the kiss of death in an Rv) so I even put on a new roof$$$$). A class B van doesn’t leak and remember the more bells and whistles like stoves etc means more things can break. I really encourage you not to buy a factory made RV unless you have lots of money to keep it running. ❤

It's great that you've made the decision to replace your tires. If I may offer some advice: Have the oil and filter changed if it hasn't been done in a while. February and March are brutally cold here in the Ohio Valley Midwest. I mentioned Bisbee Arizona because a high school alumni was the Librarian at the Bisbee Library for decades. I think she has retired, but the little artistic town captured her and she never returned to the Midwest. Here in Ohio our Amish communities build the highest quality Little Houses and converted Vans.

Half the fun is the figuring it out step by step. I've enjoyed my rvs very much. My favorites have been my motorhome with a towed car and for the past 18 years my truck and 5th wheel. RVS are like having a comfy little house wherever I go. A bathroom, a kitchen, bedroom, storage, heat, electricity, water and I can stand up straight, a must for my back. You are doing great. Hi Beth its great you got your tyres sorted. If you can, please look at engine oil and oil filter. Its something people can forget but its really important. Looked up the Chevrolet Equinox and its every 7500 miles. With mainly city driving and/or a lot of engine idling its maybe every 5000 miles. Probably in the range of $80 + 1 hour labour.
