As someone living in the west, i can tell you everything he is saying is 100% true, lots of documentaries on Netflix these days about multinationals and how they have taken over the food industry and promote artificial and unhealthy foods. It used to be a European and American issue, sad to say it is now affecting African and also South America, which are countries that have enough home made natural resources to do this themselves for sustainability. But all these multinational lobbyists and politicians will fight anyone who wants to go "local" instead of imports as there is serious millions to be made by individuals and cooperations.

The buying from the west and selling in Ghana is our problem. We should manufacture our own needs in Ghana then we can solve unemployment. Why should we import chicken from Brazil, it is all because these multinationals bribe government officials NOT to look at their destructive trade practices in Ghana at the detriment of our local farmers and others. @@imarkyaw534 Amazing, you don’t understand common sense economics, I will educate you, when our government increases import duties on foreign made products/produce, what happens is, our local manufacturers are able to control the market and compete well. Simply put,the prices of imported goods will go up and that of the local manufacturers will be moderate for our local people to afford. This put money into the pockets of our local manufacturers who in turn will expand their manufacturing base which will employ more of our unemployed youth and above all Ghanaian money will stay in Ghana. Are you an importer? You people are destroying Ghana and gradually your time will be up. There are reasons why IMF forced our African leaders to sell all their factories and they too sheepishly obeyed and Now most African countries have been turned into buying from the western manufacturing companies creating employment for their citizens and the African has been turned into a consumer thanks to our unpatriotic leaders. Right from Nkrumah’s time to the later parts of the 80’s when you go to Tema,there were factories everywhere and the unemployment situation was very low in Ghana. Common sense, if we apply it in Ghana will encourage us to build our own factories and produce our own stuff in our own country and restrict others from taking advantage of our market, that is what western markets do. Read on these prescribed IMF programs for Ghana, Structure Adjustment program, SAP which actually means fool in the American language, that didn’t work so they brought another one called Program Action to mitigate the social cost of Adjustment PAMSCAD. This was all Rawlings time and before we got to the democratic period, all our factories were gone, when will the African get sense?

I love this. I feel like we often overlook the products, services and opportunities for development in our own country because we see what the "western world" has to offer as "better" which isn't necessarily correct. I'm also happy it's a sustainable business

In many ways western products and services have set a standard, that cannot be denied. But instead of Africans setting that same standard and being inspired by what other nations have created for themselves we want to cut corners and just buy what they produce without asking ourselves how can we do what they did and it better and/or make it make sense for our respective countries. Thankfully more people of my generation and younger are doing that. As africans we must lift Africa from this cycle of dependency and downtrodden reputation it currently has, Vanessa is doing her part as well as all the people being featured on her channel. I cannot wait to join the group.

I hear him, I share his sentiments on changing the agriculture landscape in Ghana, with respect to the quantities of food that are imported when we have the capabilities to do such on ground. What I do not think is cool is his company is headed up by 5 Belgians and 2 Frenchmen and no native Ghanaians. For a brand that premises itself on being led by foreigners who have lived in Africa you would think one of the founders would at least be a native Ghanaian or African at least 🧐 He probably pays the farmers he works with a fair price but where is the EQUITY?

Nana, I agree with you with all my heart. I've worked in West Africa for many years. With all respect, there are many guys like this guy who do this shat!(pardon my french haha). They will claim Africa but their business partners will never be African. Their intermediate circle will never be African. They grow up in Africa, they love Africa for the money to be made, and the freedom they have and not the culture to be loved. However, I actually don't blame them. The system allows them to. I would bever forget a CEO from Argentina invited my consultancy group to his house for dinner. Based in the northern part of Nigeria. They own ACRES of Land and breed polo horses. I walked into his house and I was the only African person in the whole place. They had around 100 people in the building. All the waiters and Waitresses were African. Meanwhile, this is in Nigeria O. I left after one hour. I felt sick. I was confused. French people have their own internal issues. Being born in Nigeria doesn't mean you were raised in the culture. I have nothing against this guy. He is doing what all men do, seeking for Gold. I have a problem with the policies created in West Africa. You shouldn't be able to start a business unless you invest with indigenous people. The majority of Non-Africans in West Africa never integrate. They still create their own communities and segregate from Africans. but guess what? They are treated like Kings as well.

Too true Robin, Ghana will crash and burn if we don't produce and sell our own products. By all means, we will import certain items but we have to keep it at the minimum, and produce the items we eat the most like rice, chicken, Ghana prints, kick out Nestle and make the chocolates ourselves. Encourage the people to buy Ghanaian own products, you do that by raising the tax on imported products, thereby, making Ghana products cheaper than the foreign ones. This will enable people to buy their own. Robin is spot on. Why do we allow foreign fishing ships in our water? Huge fishing vessels sweeping our ocean floor and taking everything.. They are coming as far as China. What are our Black Star Line doing? Don't we have security on the waters?

My thoughts: (i) his identity is not "West African", we have specific cultural practices and identity is passed down via ethnic heritage (he's a passport holder/national), (ii) he's talking about competing, but I'd be curious how he got access to land and source of funding, (iii) his use of "we" when talking about imports, of course benefits him as he'd rather a monopoly inside than outside and (iv) not doubting him, but he doesn't sound at all like he grew up in Nigeria.

In the West you're from the city/state where you are born. In Africa, generally you are rooted to a particular village where most/all of your kin are also from even if you are born in space. Seems brilliant, found your channel because I bought a chihuahua and was researching them. Wanted to check the video out again to compare how my experience compared. Decided to watch a little more this time and it was a good choice. I mean this information is nothing new, we’ve had this issue for years. I remember even at the age of 9 or 10 going out to buy common tin tomatoes and it was from Italy or Spain. I’m 28 now and not a thing has changed it’s the same old thing. Why are we buying things from abroad when we have the good soil and better more organic Whole Foods for ourselves. Starting farms can grant employment and improve the economy as well as support local farmers who work very hard but it all goes to waste because we patronize everything foreign. We need leaders who have a vision for their country instead of thinking of empty profit where outsiders benefit more than local Ghanaians.

I have worked in NYC : Harlem Hosp. Downstate Medical Center, Queens General Hosp Rehabilitation Medicine Dept. I have worked in Neonatal ICU, Burn ICU, Occupation/Physical Rehab Clinics. In 1989 I treated more AIDS patients than all Occupational Therapist in the USA at Harlem Hosp. ( pediatrics AIDS look it up) Moved to California early 90s: and worked at the Martin Luther King / Charles Drew Medical Center in the Dept of Rehabilitation as a Senior OTR specializing as a hand therapist working directly with patients post Orthopedic Surgery or General Surgery. Many of my patients were knife trauma or gun shot wound, falls, trauma injuries, industrial injury ect. I have worked also in North Carolina, South Carolina in physical rehabilitation clinics as well as within the domain of home health . I also worked as a Occupational Therapist in the Dutch Caribbean and French territory’s, working acute care hosp, my Private clinic and then in Nigeria at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital at Yaba and the Federal School of Occupational Therapy at Oshodi, Lagos Nigeria in the late 2000s as a Senior Principal Lecturer. I consulted and lectured i2014 in Katsina Nigeria at the State Teaching Hospital. membership AOTA, WFOT, NAOT and the NAACP, as well New York State Black Occupational Therapy Assoc. I am a Who’s Who in America 1988. I played inter scholastic football sport and was an honorable mention All Conference MEAC at Morgan State Univ, I participated in free agent football camps in the 1978-9 for the NFL Kansas City Chief and in the Canadian Football League for the Ottawa Rough Riders and the Montreal Alloettes before retiring from the sport to Lecture and Coach in Cross River State Nigeria upcoming University. At that time many Ghanaian Lecturer came into Nigeria. To upgrade the standard of secondary school teachers and university candidates. I am a Pan Africanist with family on the continent in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria , The Bell family in Cameroon, island of Sint Maarten and in San Pedro de Marcoris Dominican Republic. I have traveled the world and I speak Efik, Ibibio, English, Spanish, someDutch, Papiamento , Russian and pidgin broken English.. When you have lived through the civil rights movement, military coups, white supremacy, racism, you either accept bullshit or you become all you can be in the world. I have lived in North and Central America( Belize) the Caribbean islands, West Africa and have two young adult children living in Netherlands today. I have 10 biological and step children and 15 grandchildren.. I do not let things get past me. When it come to opinions out of the natural context. I will continue to say if you have to work for a Caucasian it should be temporary and all Africans should aspire to become entrepreneurs and forge their own destiny. After 30 plus years an OT I do not have problem working with a client but during those years I can tell you of the many times Caucasian clients were shocked and some upset when they confirmed I was their Therapist. I am not mixed with European and my skin is a beautiful dark complexion. Many people believe Dark Skin is less than and I am not following that bullshit... Asian want their place for Asian and Europeans want there place for Europeans and Indians want Indians in India. When I say let Africans control African I got to answer people who perhaps need to go out into the world and see what others are saying and doing. What shit they are talking about the African Continent and its descendants in the Diaspora living abroad

Very well done! Love this channel. But, please please please, correct ppl when they give wrong misleading info. Ghana isn't and has never been #1 Cocoa producer. Ivory Coast is still #1 in the world and has the biggest export facilities for cocoa in the world. If you want to accurately invite ppl to the continent do it by given them the right info!
