I LOVE Flathead Lake and have been thinking about building or buying a place there so this was VERY helpful.

It is beautiful. Views most everywhere, and you don't have to live right on the Flathead to have a great view, e.g., Kalispell, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls. Long, cold winters lead some to move out. Cost of living is high. Thus the saying that "You can't eat the mountains." It was a great place to raise our family. Good people with good values.

@jenniferricker4207 Not really it's boring & freezing cold in the winter. You couldn't pay me everything in the world to live in that boring ass freezing cold state a person may as well move to Alaska.

Man no way can I afford that. Looking to move from southeast Idaho. Average house prices are crazy low here compared

We stayed in Polson during the Summer. Simply gorgeous area. We used to have a home in Tahoe, similar but Flathead is far less populated which I love.

I guess living in the mid Atlantic I cannot understand why, with so much land and opens spaces, why real estate is so expensive in Montana...can you explain that to me?

People want to get out of the big cities, we don’t have tons of inventory. Supply and demand!

How pricy homes are in this area, or Montana for that matter, even more then south Florida, crazy; thus how locals can afford to own their homes in such a blue collar community ?
@JS-qi1ou3 жыл бұрын
Well its what we call the m "Mountain tax" the cost of living is drastically different than central and eastern Montana. You are basically paying a premium to live somewhere with a view. Same goes for states like Wyoming and Colorado as well, if you want to live in the mountains you're going to pay more.

Well you need to keep in mind that you could buy lakefront houses for 500k just a few years ago and a lot of people on the lake have lived there for 15-20-30 years back when you could buy land for next to nothing

@@khenanbedingfield2916ep and most times when these people bought property way back when they usually pass down until it reaches the hands of someone who inherited who could give a shit about the view and cashes in to someone with deep pockets and out of reach to blue collar workers in todays market.

Damn dude you do a good job of confusing people which is maybe a good thing. Talk about going One direction when you're going to actually go in the other direction. And you forgot to mention what I call the silly season. From about June to September, about 6:00 in the morning until about 6:00 to 7:00 in the evening you get to enjoy the bumper to bumper traffic in Polson. If you live off 93 going through Polson you can spend 5 to 10 minutes trying to get out of a driveway onto the highway. . .

Been here 26 years. It was wonderful until the Covid invasion. Now it’s ruined. The housing situation? Low supply, big demand.
