Congratulations on your sobriety and your surrendering to the Lord!! Humbling yourself and asking Him for help is the BEST decision a person can make in their lifetime, no matter their circumstances. Your commitment to your son is admirable as well. Keep up the good fight! You are an inspiration to many, I’m sure.

Same. My dad’s dr told him for a long time he had to stop drinking. He refused as it was his coping mechanism with back pain (an injury he sustained at work), my mom leaving decades prior,& some other life stuff. He remarried but I don’t think he ever got over my mom abandoning us. He got to where he couldn’t absorb nutrients & he died in 2016 at 60 when his pancreas gave out. My grandma went the following summer & life has done a 360 since. I lived out of my car for 6 months. I did have 2-3 homes beforehand when I was forced out of my grandmas house. went through an abusive relationship, had surgeries in 2021 then eviction. It took me 6 months to go from houseless to signing my lease. I’ve been in my home for 2 years I think 8/1. Changed trades. I work for the state now on days rather than healthcare. Physically I have challenges but I can’t begin to say how grateful I am for the journey I’ve come through. It took hard work and the grace of God that it was 6 months but I was always safe. I never froze nor starved. I have virtually no support system but I got through it.

@@brenpgrace Hi Bren new subscriber, I was happy to hear that I am not the only one who likes winter a lot more then summer! Whenever fall comes around my spirits always seem lifted and when people ask me why I like winter so much I tell them during the summer you can only take so much off and still be sweaty but during winter you can always pile clothes on and get warm. My 2nd husband who is also an Irishman is almost 20 years sober from alcohol and pain killers. He hit bottom when he died and EMT'S brought him back that was when he knew he was done and he changed his life around completely. Please remember we find peace and happiness from within ourselves not from what we may or may not have! Stay strong and take one day at a time and you will get there I know you will! God Bless You.

You are one of the most down-to-earth people I think I've ever spoken with, and if I ever wanted to spend a night camping with someone in a situation like this, I would want you to be my guide. That is not a come on, that is I think you are one of the most amazing people I've ever witnessed on youtube, or anywhere else, in my 60 plus years, and spending a day with you, would be like a ray of sunshine in my life at this point. I’m in recovery too. Celebrated 15 years in November. So I feel you so much. The realization that gave me escape velocity is that addiction is like schizophrenia. It’s a little voice in your head that lies to you and says whatever it takes to make you fail. Once I learned isolate that voice, I was able to ignore it, kind of like a schizophrenic lives with imagined people and must learn to identify and ignore them.

Do you mention you are “a Quaker” because you feel that gives you a type of moral street cred? This is an honest question- not a diss. It just seems weird. I can’t imagine someone saying “I am Baptist from Canada” before a comment unless I feel I am of a higher moral ground- which is not very Quaker of you. Just saying.

Handing it up to GOD IS EVERYTHING. I’m not alcoholic but I’ve obsessed over my problems and it got me nowhere. I recommitted my life to Christ and a strong prayer life which is consistent. No matter what my problems are I now have peace bc instead of obsessing on the situation I obsess on prayer. It’s a game changer.

There are many golden bits related to your channel. I’ll pick one. Your attention to detail sets a good example for your viewers. The way you organize your car is outstanding. The favorite of mine, though, is how you document your finances, take what you earn, and allocate specific amounts to car expenses, food, etc. Keeping your records in such detail is so helpful towards peace of mind. Lastly, I've been a Christian pretty much all my life. The way you talk about your relationship with God lines up with my experience. I love that you put into words exactly how I feel. Sometimes, the way you nail it is a great reminder that increases my gratitude and joy when I think about the truth of how God operates in my own life and circumstances 🤗🙌🏿🙌🏿 Tracey from San Diego, California

Just came across your channel and want to offer you a huge, huge congratulations in staying sober for 8 months. I'm a former gambling addict and your story reflects my own. As you say keep the train moving and things will get better. Absolutely brilliant channel. Keep it going.

Wow. That’s why you’ve struck a chord and have a light people see and wanna “be around” . God🐈‍⬛💙 Cool. He’s the ultimate Now all ya need is a black cat. Mines gonna be in my car for four hours before I take off to watch a friends house tomorrow so I have hand warmers for under the blanket while she has to wait in the car. Way up north prolly too cold for kitty tho. Again thx for sharing stuff

Okay Bren. I subscribed, then unsubscribedn now subscribed again. I admire and respect your determination to conquer the drinking addiction. Your most important 1st step was asking God into your life! With His help and guidance, amazing things will begin to happen, like 136k views! I am 73 yrs. old and just a gentle request to go lightly on the 4 letter words. I used to say sh.t all the time until my precious grandsons were born, then decided to clean up my act. You are in my prayers! I love your soothing voice and the Ninja gang are cute! God Bless!

Keep it up, Bren! So glad you found God. And you are honorable for staying in your son's life. AND, I seem to be in the minority with my friends and family here in Texas, but I LOVE the winter! I went to college in Bristol, RI, in the early 90s and lived on Cape Cod for three years, then moved to CA and back to my home state of TX years later. I hope to live up north again before the end of my life. 🙂 Best wishes for you!

Been loving your channel so much. I think it’s so cool I found you. I just reached 4 years sober! It’s hard sometimes, with temptations but damn alcohol has only ever made my life worse so I’ll continue going to meetings and using healthy coping. Proud of you for taking on this journey!!

Congrats on 8 months sober! It’s awesome having God in your corner! I stopped drinking 5 years ago! Before my grandchildren were born! I couldn’t have done it without God being in my corner too! It gets easier! Stay strong! New to your channel ! 🙏🏻

Hey Bren, just found your channel by accident and immediately subscribed. I slept in my car for a few weeks at age 23 due to losing my way as well. Love your story, perseverance, and willingness to share your journey and struggles with us. That takes a lot of courage. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures and know we are all with you on your journey. God Bless and much love from Canada brother.

Love you bro! Not like that but I love the man you are. I wish I had done what your doing 18 years ago after my wife left with my kids and left me alone and depressed 😔. Who knows where I'd be now but probably in a better place than I am now. 😢 thanks for your transparency. It helps my day to day struggles.
