Same. My dad’s dr told him for a long time he had to stop drinking. He refused as it was his coping mechanism with back pain (an injury he sustained at work), my mom leaving decades prior,& some other life stuff. He remarried but I don’t think he ever got over my mom abandoning us. He got to where he couldn’t absorb nutrients & he died in 2016 at 60 when his pancreas gave out. My grandma went the following summer & life has done a 360 since. I lived out of my car for 6 months. I did have 2-3 homes beforehand when I was forced out of my grandmas house. went through an abusive relationship, had surgeries in 2021 then eviction. It took me 6 months to go from houseless to signing my lease. I’ve been in my home for 2 years I think 8/1. Changed trades. I work for the state now on days rather than healthcare. Physically I have challenges but I can’t begin to say how grateful I am for the journey I’ve come through. It took hard work and the grace of God that it was 6 months but I was always safe. I never froze nor starved. I have virtually no support system but I got through it.

@@brenpgrace Hi Bren new subscriber, I was happy to hear that I am not the only one who likes winter a lot more then summer! Whenever fall comes around my spirits always seem lifted and when people ask me why I like winter so much I tell them during the summer you can only take so much off and still be sweaty but during winter you can always pile clothes on and get warm. My 2nd husband who is also an Irishman is almost 20 years sober from alcohol and pain killers. He hit bottom when he died and EMT'S brought him back that was when he knew he was done and he changed his life around completely. It’s a little voice in your head that lies to you and says whatever it takes to make you fail. Once I learned isolate that voice, I was able to ignore it, kind of like a schizophrenic lives with imagined people and must learn to identify and ignore them.

Do you mention you are “a Quaker” because you feel that gives you a type of moral street cred? This is an honest question- not a diss. It just seems weird. Just found your content yesterday. You have that "thing", whatever it is, that makes watching you do mundane things very enjoyable. Great videos, man!

Love you bro! Not like that but I love the man you are. I wish I had done what your doing 18 years ago after my wife left with my kids and left me alone and depressed 😔. Who knows where I'd be now but probably in a better place than I am now. 😢 thanks for your transparency. It helps my day to day struggles.
