Spartanburg is home to 7 colleges and universities and the SC School for the Deaf and Blind. It also has an expanding network of walking and biking trails. There are plans to bring back non-motorized boating to Duncan Park lake in the city. A few fun facts about Spartanburg: it has one of the oldest law firms in the US, est 1825, what is thought be one of the largest cemetery sculptures in the US, the only active train tunnel in the state, it is where the first college football game in SC was played, Elvis Presley once performed in Spartanburg and Martin Luther King’s uncle was once pastor of a church in Spartanburg. Spartanburg’s hospital system has been highly rated by US News.
