This is the first one of these that has literally made me cry. This dude is so genuine and accepting of his own path seemingly without shame or regrets. When he talked about his mom encouraging him and then losing her I was fully 😭. I’m just getting my head around saving for retirement at 52, and I’m a freelancer, and I feel like I am playing catch up to the max. I wanna incorporate some of this guys energy. It’s so much easier to move forward when I am not feeling paralyzed by wishing I had started earlier. Thanks for this one.
@lokijordan3 жыл бұрын
Similar circumstances and age here, when I started saving toward retirement. I did a mix of conservative and aggressive investing by opening an IRA first and maxing that out, then buying cryptocurrencies. I did a ridiculous amount of research on each before moving forward, but this approach seems to be paying off four years later. No, I'm not expecting to get rich, but I do feel like I can avoid being really poor at 70. I think the trick is not in tying to incorporate somebody else's energy, but to establish your goals. Concretize them by writing them down. And do the homework. You also have to be honest and realistic with yourself about how much you can invest (and realistic about your growth timeline). But mostly, you have to START. A little at a time is cool. Get your feet wet. Hope this helps.

If you add that with the other $7k that he saves every year, that’s $14k in one year! In 5 years he will have saved $70k! If he did this sooner he would’ve had at least one multi family property in the City he grew up in! I know plenty of people who did what he wants to do with less money, and in his age group. Depends on the country you live in too. If you live in a country where poverty is the norm, it would be difficult for anyone to get out. The Phillipines as an example. My sister in law came to America to be “successful” with a high paying job. She sends money, clothes, and food every few months back home. I know other Filipinos that do the same. It’s a normal environment for the Phillipines. Only a few countries like the “western” countries, US, England, Russia are able to sustain a viable economy so that anyone in poverty can rise above their environment much easier than poor countries.

@@taoist32 true, but all these videos and most of the viewers are US/Canada, we all have the opportunity to be financially independent. However, how to achieve that is usually glossed over or not even mentioned early on in life, which is a shame because a kid fresh out of highschool with that knowledge has alot better chance of setting themselves and their family up for life. @DragonballxNaruto that's such a ridiculous way of phrasing it and am from a country where it's completely ok with multiple generations living under the same roof and where caring for aging parents is widely expected. But am also an American so I also believe that you should find your own independence away from your parents. That's not abandonment, that's growing up. Also, I lived with with my mother until my mid 20s and the moment i started working i contributed to the rent. Now that's something that needs to be looked down on: leeching kids that confuse living with parents to living rent free.
@damianxavier73433 жыл бұрын
@DragonballxNaruto exactly... In my country theres even grandkids and parents that are all still living in the grandparents house, and they live a pretty happy life together. Nobody looks down upon them or anything of that sort.

Finally a realistic representation of the average Millennial. His transparency and vulnerability are refreshing to this series. As a fellow resident of LA, I can relate to him. I too am trying to pay off my vehicle and student loans while saving and thinking abt finally purchasing a home (more than likely not in this city or state). In 2017 I also lost my mom to cancer. She continues to be my motivation to push forward and not stop.

Sounds like he is doing great. 75k is waaaaaaaaay more than enough. Even in Los Angeles. Rent averages 2k/mo. With just 60k a year he would be living comfortably. Let’s even say his rent is 3k. Isaac would still have over half his total income to live comfortably whilst navigating remaining expenses effortlessly. Still doing way better than most.
@9327473 жыл бұрын
75k is nothing in LA, there is more expenses than just rent, There is taxes, insurance, car insurance, misc spending, renters insurance and the list goes etc

Agree with u but life is fuller with fun(season tickets)
@hobgoblin46143 жыл бұрын
I think he is ok with the season tickets. He didn't mention a daily Starbucks habit and it seems like his entertainment is centered around his football team as it's a catalyst for his social life and he makes a trip around it a year. Also think he splits the tickets with friends so his share would be about $900 a year if you run the $75 he has to budget for it a month.
