Been here three years, just went through Cat. 1 hurricane. If you put up hurricane shutters - no prob. Bugs? Get an exterminator. Gators - never have seen one. Have seen owls, eagles, flamingos, 4ft tall herons walking down the sidewalk. This place is gorgeous. (Hawaii? Have you been in Hawaii in August? No a/c! Humid af.) The Love bugs come here once a year for about three days. Bottom line, the Space Coast has miles and miles of open beaches, small town vibe with big city amenities, loads of restaurants, abundant wildlife, kayaking, fishing, boating, golfing. And it’s the most affordable place on the east coast right now (until people from Miami start migrating north). Don’t worry about the locals. There are many, many, many newcomers from out of town, to the point where the locals appreciate the extra influx of cash.

Moved here from Muncie IN 17 years ago. Lived in Orlando for about 6 months. Too much traffic for a country boy but then moved to Indian River County, just south of Space Coast, for maybe five years. I lived in Vero Beach and Sebastian. They are quite compared to Orllando and if you want to move to FL and still have a small town feel Sebastian is your best bet. It’s a great little town perfect for a young family or retirement. It was too far from why I came here. The great economy of Orlando and the vacation capital of the world. So I got tired of driving for everything and moved up to Space Coast. I’ve lived in Melbourne and Palm Bay. They are a great balance between a small town and a big city. Everything you need plus more and a relatively short drive to any job or experience you want in Orlando. The people are great. They don’t wave unless they are your neighbors and they take there time to get to know you but once you say hello and talk they are as hospital, friendly, honest, and funny as anyone you will meet. They see there small town change while new people, business, and buildings flood what they grew up knowing. I understand there hesitation to believe they know us and know I am a good person. This is there home and we are new roommates they didn’t want or know was coming. Then you end up meeting more outsiders than locals and they are hesitant for the same reasons you would be. You don’t know anyone and who the hell are these people. The economy is better here than anywhere in America and by association arguably the world. We have tourism, retired nest eggs, hard working go getters from the world feeding this economy. The construction boom has been going strong sense the 60s and when it slowed a few years in 08-10 it was still moving and building compared to the rest of the country that came to a screeching stop. 30 percent of new residential buildings are sold to individuals out of country because it’s the best investment a person can make in the world. The rising population brings a demand for every job that exists and fuels new ideals and technology to fill these needs as soon as possible. The opportunities are enormous and only held back by your creativity and work ethic. The churches, temples, mosques, and religious communities are in a similar light to the economy and social realities but strive to make them all as good as they can be while praising god for his blessings and wrapping arms around your neighbors while we move forward in this great future that exists as a result of everything right in our past and present. How clear the wrongs are seen and how great the rights are felt. We are blessed, in our wonderful gifts sacrificed to be presented to us we humbly strive to make better and present them to our children, brothers, and sisters. Thank you for all of this!!! Your love is great and thank you for the peace and comfort you gave to those who sacrificed for us with you. Humble, thankful, and eager to do my part. They did it all for this. Let’s do it out of care and respect for them am with unexplainable happiness let me do whatever you chose. I’m ready to kick some ass of the accuser and lift hands with the accused. Move here what could be better? If you have a real answer for that then do that. If it’s real our goals are the same and we can lift each other up from across the world. We can build on the paradise that exists where we know it is.

I heard about the love bugs. Original we wanted to move to Hawaii. Its not hot ad humid like Florida it has perfect weather and no bugs in the cities or crowded areas. I heard there are bugs in the country but there are no bugs even in the rain forest, But Hawaii is now commie. Florida is the choice for freedom and it has good winter weather! We went through hurricane Sandy and know not to live in the beach. But we like the space coast because it doesn't attract transplants as much as Palm beach, Port St Lucie and so on. We dont want to be near the people we left!Really good info! Me and my hubby watched together!

Grew up in Merritt Island and Port St. John. Joined the Army, got out, and currently live in KC due to my daughter being here. Once she's done with HS in about a year and half, plan on coming back. Any advise on selling here and trying to buy a house there. I'd really not like to rent if I don't have to.

@@powerxkx There are no alligators in the ocean. Crocodiles go in the ocean but there are no crocodiles in the ocean north of Miami. You are more likely to see crocodiles in the ocean in Key West, Key Largo and Miami. The only crocodiles in Melbourne, FL are at the Brevard Zoo.

What houses don’t get affected by the insurance? Is there a way to find that out when researching?
@reallocalfl
@reallocalfl Жыл бұрын
1) Location 2) Age of Home…. are the two most important factors right now. Currently, homes not on one of the barrier islands have more coverage options. New and newer homes are going to provide the best wind ratings which will provide the highest discounts on premiums. That being said, older homes that have been updated can still get lower premium costs. In these cases it really boils down to the specific property. If you need help navigating this and your property search just reach out 💬321-872-8087 or 📧RealLocalFL@gmail.com ~ Joey

Aren't homes built after 2002 more hurricane resistant? Would these newer homes have cheaper homeowners and flood insurance. Can buyers get there agents to check insurance rates for homes they bid on?
@reallocalfl
@reallocalfl Жыл бұрын
Yes in theory the newer the home the more hurricane resistant it is due to updated building codes and better materials. That being said I wouldn’t focus solely on year built because a 2003 home could still have the original roof, non impact windows and no storm shutter system, etc…. New construction homes or even homes built within the past 5 years will offer the best price and coverage options on insurance. Location is also going to dictate coverage options and pricing. Flood insurance requirements are determined by location as reflected on the FEMA maps and not the home itself. If a seller has a recent 4 point inspection and wind mitigation report you can always send those to get insurance quotes up front but this isn’t a common thing sellers provide. Although I do think it may become a bit more common since insurance is such a pain point. Even if a seller provides you’ll still want to have your own performed during your inspection period once you’re under contract. Reach out if you want to talk more because this is definitely a complex situation with lots of variables. Also, we touched on this subject a bit in this video which may provide a bit more incite. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4iUkqugi8h5fLc 321-872-8087 RealLocalFL@gmail.com Joey

When I first got to Florida. How neat everybody lives on a lake practically. Then I realized good luck I'm going out in your backyard and just sitting there in a lawn chair next to the water cuz you might be eaten by an alligator or it might come after your dog. Which completely turn me off
