Thanks Daniel, your right, each to their own. This is perfect for our lifestyle but not too many could cope with not having a bit more space. I think because we love prospecting so much we can endure a few hardships to enable us the mobility that we need.

My husband and I are doing a similar set up for our car,and I have to say it works very well for us. We do some fossicking over the holidays normally at the end of the year. My question is.. where did you buy those mesh for the doors? Are they specially made? Thanks.
@BKGoldDetecting2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the manufacturer no longer sells these but if you search the web there are a number of companies making similar window events. Try sscampervans.com

That was excellent and inspiring BK!! I have one question about the battery in the back - what sort of battery is it and it looks like it has no means of being recharged ( it seems), so how long does it last and I expect you only expect it to last one outing before coming home for a recharge? Again, fabulous videos and thanks for showing us what can be done! Cheers Vic.
@BKGoldDetecting3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vic, if you mean the detector battery, it lasts about a day but I have a solar panel to charge all my electrics. I also carry a spare battery so I can detect with one while the other is charging. BK

Great system, very well done. How long does it take you to set everything up when you get to the campsite? Also, where did you get the window vent panels from?
@BKGoldDetecting2 жыл бұрын
Set up is very fast, 10 minutes on average. That’s what we like about this setup. Pack up is a bit longer, closer to 20 minutes.

Thanks for the video. My observation is that it may be uncomfortable and claustrophobic with both of you on that bed together?
@BKGoldDetecting3 жыл бұрын
Many would agree with you and pop in a 2 man tent, which we do if we intend staying in one spot for an extended time. It is a little uncomfortable but we feel the benefits outweigh the negatives when traveling light and moving regularly. The overnight temp is often below zero where we go and it is considerably warmer in the car than a 2 man tent. We do not find it claustrophobic, we are surrounded by windows at the bed height which helps.

Just wondering how you loft the spare wheel up onto the roof? They can get rather heavy.
@BKGoldDetecting3 жыл бұрын
It’s not easy, but luckily very rarely needed, just for reassurance. I load it before I leave with assistance. If needed in emergency I can get it down myself by sliding it across and pivoting on the edge of the roof rack. I put a blanket over the side door and then support the weight as it slides down the side of the car. I’ll put out a video one day, this gets asked a lot.

What do you drink while away for 7 days ? I did not see anything bar a bottle of alcohol plus more than enough water - so I guess its water , coffee , tea - powdered milk I suppose ?
@BKGoldDetecting3 жыл бұрын
During the day we stick to water or coffee (we use powdered milk), around the campfire it’s usually a rum or a port on a cold night. One sacrifice of not having a fridge is beer.
