Biggest take aways - use the extension pole more, and make strokes up & down not all over the map. Thank you. I love a Perdy brush, so interested in hearing about yours. US made? DIY-er here.

Thanks so much for taking the time to upload this today. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I've had a room left about 10% unfinished for a month. I keep saying I want to get it done but the problem is... I have no PATIENCE right now to do it properly so I know I'd be more disappointed with the mistakes in the finished product than I am with it sitting 90% done. When you said that... it clicked that that is my problem. Ceilings need another coat, which I dread... and even though I gave a light sand, my crown molding and baseboards look smeared on. I'm going from a. white semigloss finish to a black matte finish so I'm sure the second coat will make a world of difference. Walls and shutters are already done. I need to find patience today so I can finish. LOL. Thanks for the motivation. I always enjoy your tips and tricks.

Good luck finishing your project, you can do it!

😊😊 New color [not for me] brighter is better. Brush choice I didn’t know about. Ordered the frog green thanks for that also. I think your mud needs to have two coats or it looks too flat. Didn’t catch your sheen statement. You got me following everything you post. Good thing for me. Painting is notoriously challenging you explain well.😊😊 I like subtle color not lots of color. 😅😅

Use a small roller in one hand and brush in the other. Roll on the paint with the small roller and follow with the brush. Get a lot more paint on the wall at one time without dipping the brush in the paint.

Interesting tip, I’ll have to try it and see if it speeds me up!

Question - maybe you've covered this in some of your other videos, but , no primer before paint ? I just found your channel and I'm really loving it, keep up the good work :)
@diypainting8 ай бұрын
No primer on previously painted walls. With patches, I make sure they get two coats and they turn out great.

Great tips, thanks! Would you use a larger roller if you were not teaching DIY techniques?
@diypainting19 күн бұрын
Yes. When I'm not filming, I use a 14 or 18" roller whenever possible. But they are not DIY friendly, so I do not use them in my videos.

Nice job, the color is a bit bright for me ,I like a grey-er pale green. You are right a good stiff brush is very important for cutting in I like the Purdy clear cut. I do tape door and window vertical trim on new construction and natural wood finish trim. I always caulk new paint grade trim it makes pulling a straight line much easier for me same with ceilings. Drywallers leave a void with their knifes at the edge when doing a knock down finish that makes for me a ragged transition between ceiling and wall paint so I caulk that also. I also always have a can of Bullseyes spray shellac for problem spots like markers that will bleed through and drywall repair.

Great tips. I keep a can of Kilz in my tools for the same issues.

Thank you for this. I actually learned new tricks! Question. My home has lots of old drips from previous paint jobs. Do you just sand them all off?
@diypainting5 ай бұрын
I try to scrape them off first, then a little spackle and sand. If the drips don’t scrape off, then sanding usually works but takes longer. Worst case scenario, you can skim coat over them and try to smooth them out.

Great Videos! I know you like BM Advanced for Cabinets but what's your favorite paint and sheen for Walls?

I actually like Behr Marquee. Great paint and good price. Sherwin Cashmire is another fav.

What if you had to paint the trim too?
@diypainting8 ай бұрын
If I had to paint the trim, I would do that before the walls. Prep off the floor, brush out your trim (prime and two top coats sanding in between each) and before you tape it off to do the walls, make sure it’s dried/cured enough so that the tape doesn’t damage the trim. Good luck!

Good painting job and great diy tips, but that paint color is obnoxious! I love happy colors but in smaller doses, lol. To each his own!

The owner rally loved the color, so I was happy with it!
