Simple living and minimalism have a lot in common, but there are also differences. As humans, it is a fact that we will never stop consuming. We buy stuff to survive and to enjoy a quality life. I know that I will never be a minimalist but I have always tried to live in a simple manner all of my life. Especially during my time in the Navy, I was always living simple, not because I had to travel from one side of the world to the other (missing my time in the Philippines, although) but because I knew there was going to be a time in my life I would have to depend more upon myself… sadly that time is now, in my early 50’s. But when you live simply, you realize that it helps you on how to manage your life (and savings account) for the better too. I remember when as a child, in the 70’s, how I was laughed and teased for having ‘second hand clothes’ at school. Back then we were very poor and mama couldn’t afford much. Now decades later, not only is it the rage but it’s a wonderful way of recycling and reusing what’s already available. Also again, a darned great way to save money. And those same people (who were emotionally immature back then) are probably the same ones jumping on the bandwagon, now, because their kids or grandkids are ‘doing it’ but not considering the why to it. Anyways, thank you for your wisdom in your vlogs and I will be watching for your next one. 😇
