Life without a dream can be a dreary life, but a dream by itself isn’t enough.

Read this right when he said it. Great quote. Reminds me of when RP McMurphy tries to pull the sink out of the floor in One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest and says something along the lines of, "At least I tried".

I feel like you just walked thru my head. I will be 75 in July. Five years ago, with the realization of my wife's declining health, I decided I needed to get back to my dream. My wife and I had different dreams and we agreed to live hers. We have been very happy with the results, but she told me to prepare to move on. So I bought some saddle bags (A few years later you recommended the exact bags in one of your videos). A couple years later I bought a used ranch saddle, new cinches and rope lash (bought the rope in 2002). Just recently, I purchased a led rope, head stall and rope halter. Currently I'm shopping for some split reins. My goal is and has been exactly as you mentioned, to die on the road living my dream. Heck, I may even come and visit you and Mama in Wyoming. Cowboy Up! May your school be a huge success and may GOD Bless the two of you. Happy Birthday Dwyane! 🎂

I am 60 years old. My horse is 25. He is a dream. He is amazing. I was influenced by people like yourself. I hope we can stay together a long time yet. I let everything take time. That was my way. And it worked for me. Dreams don´tt always come through immediately. I know I am a bit off topic here. But you said you love tto teach horses. I do to - in my own way. I am never in a hurry. Thanx for a good vlog.

I love listening to you, I pretty much grew up without a dad or male influence, and hearing a man speak, and speak soundly, just feels nice, so thank you. I will say though, I don't have a dream... yet. I suppose before a dream, you need to feel comfortable and safe enough to dream, both of which a lot of us 20-something's don't feel right now. Ever since college, maybe even before (10 years ago) I really wanted a tiny house. I wanted to convert a van or something, or a cabin, just some type of tiny house, something about that lifestyle was just so appealing but never really knew how that would happen and seemed like a fantasy. Over the last 2 years, I really, really had to look at my life and ask myself where my life was going... because I had no dreams, I wasn't happy, and really, would rather be asleep than awake. I realized I cannot work 40 hours a week, I was in so much pain and was sick mentally and physically, couldn't afford working just to stress about paying for an apartment. Last year, I built my tiny house, my cabin on my family's property. It has been the most difficult process, and half the time I feel insane... but, I guess I am living my dream. And it's scary as hell and difficult as hell. Maybe I'm doing it right. If I could dream, it would be to heal.

When I dropped out of college in 2020 I thought my life was over. It's been 3 years and I have a great job, great friends, great faith community, and plenty of opportunities ahead. Still striving to finish out my degree in my 20s so I can better myself, but I'm proud of the progress I've made without it over the last 3 years.

I can help others far more than myself. But this past year I’ve learned a few things. Decide on what makes your heart happy, forget money. Make a commitment every day towards that thing. Maybe it’s only 10 minutes at first but be consistent. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, not the ones who’ve had a college degree in that field, not the people who’ve got a 15 year head start, or the ones who’s parents were wealthy and provided assistance. Only you are walking this path and it’s unique to you. But knowing what makes your heart fill with joy and pursue that. You’ll get there. And if you forget where your going all you need to do is look down at your feet to remind you of where you are. And put God first in everything you do. ❤

First ... thanks for your videos and your positive nature and outlook. It's good to know that people have found a certain level of happiness. I live vicariously through folks like you and many others. There are a couple of other KZbinrs I like to watch (The Outsider and My Self Reliance) that live lives that I can only dream of. I work a nine-to-five and "live" in an apartment (at 63 years old). I've worked hard all of my life and have nothing to show for it. The town I live in is a University town, so there's a lot of "woke" people around, which isn't very comfortable for an old patriot like me. So what brings me joy, these days, is watching the joy in others.

Keep talking, keep sharing wisdom on the internet. Dwayne, you have made an excellent choice with your channel to get on here and just talk like this. I have been lost for the past 5 years because of mistakes I've made that I could see and also could not. You talks, your sharing of knowledge is and has helped me find a path back to my dreams and goals. Many people think and believe I want to do the impossible. So I spend too much time in isolation due to lack of support and genuine connection. I've never really known what it is like to have a family and my expectations of friendships always exceed reality. I've only had 3 real friends and I lost all 3 of them within the same year, that messed me up more than it should have because I was trying to do everything I want to do with my life for them to help them do better so they can do what they wanted to and It's taken me so long to see how wrong it was of me to do that. When I am in the right mind I can listen to your words and see clearly how to apply them to my life and often see how to correct my mistakes. Yet, my mind is messed up and I struggle to maintain the proper state of mind to be able to see so clearly and act on that accordingly. I am slowly getting better at it but every day I wish I had a friend like I used to. They would help me identify when I couldn't see straight or when I was entertaining the wrong thoughts causing me to correct myself and do better which is often what made me want to do what I now feel I need to do for the world to the point I would actively act upon it progressing at a fast rate. Perhaps death took them as to tell me to slow down so that the knowledge lasts and my impact greater. I'm not yet certain, but I try to think in ways that encourage the positive as if everything has purpose. Your videos help me with this. Dwayne, I thank you. I am only 25 but I often feel much older within my mind. Some say I am and "old soul", I believe I am an ancient soul lost in the modern world.

I always dreamed of building a home with my own hands after renting for 40 years. At age 60 we purchased a parcel of "raw" land. I 've been working on it for the past 7 years. It is 750 miles from our current rental. I go twice a year (every 6 months) for 2-4 weeks. During the time between I am working on getting ready for the next trip! The "Cabin" is a Timber Frame (think Amish barn) mountain lodge style. I milled all the timbers myself. I'm a Blacksmith by trade so I made all the chisels, draw kinves etc.. myself to do the mortise and tenon w/ wooden dowel joinery. My wife and son's are helping. It is the greatest adventure of our lives. To live a life "debt-free" and to never have to pay "RENT" again. That is just a bonus of following the "dream" . We are leaving in 3 weeks to work on the final stages of completing the cabin. If you dream about something long enough and work toward it (no matter how slow) eventually it becomes a vision and before you realize it you are living the life that you had only dreamed about. I know this is true because I am living it. It is totally up to you. What are you waiting for?

Hope you're having a happy Easter, Dewayne Your videos have really turned me around, after going through a divorce and then foolishly falling in love with a woman who was a rebound and that relationship didn't work out I was in a dark place for quite along time. Not that I still don't feel down, I still do sometimes, but listening to your videos has honestly changed me for the better. I have primary custody of my 6 year old daughter, thank God, but I still feel unfulfilled in life with my job and where I'm at in general. I'm not really sure what I'd like to do with my life. I have a few ideas, but first things first, I gotta get my GED. thank you for encouraging me to keep going and cowboy up when I didn't feel like continuing my life. You're really helping people. I think I might try to join your school and learn to be a horse wrangler. Being a single Dad, my daughter is first before anyone or anything, but there's more to me then just being a Dad. I hope I can find meaning in other aspects of my life along with being a Dad.

Dewayne, thanks for the great advice, i needed to hear that. I am 22, and sometimes it feels frustrating when life and circumstances get in the way of my dreams, but if I die tonight, i will die satisfied that I am on the road to completing my dreams. It is easy to try and downsize my dreams in order to complete them sooner, but I try to keep in mind that it will be worth it in the end. I also do my best to enjoy the experiences along the way to completing my journey, because i believe life is an adventure, not just a time period to work only to enjoy a few years at the end. I am sure i speak for many others when I say I am glad you made it to Wyoming, just one more step towards completing your dreams. The advice you give has changed my life, and you really mean a lot to us. Thanks for the effort you put into your videos, i hope throughout my life i can positively influence a fraction of the people you do.

Hoping for compassion but ppl have grown cold. Back to work amd save and pray i even have one. Thank you for being here for those of us who dont have it all together or had no one to teach us valuable life lessons. Time for a new 5 year plan for me. Thank you for your insights and wisdom. God bless you and the lady of the house. God is good all the time.

Dewayne, I can't begin to thank you enough for all the wonderful wisdom you share with us. Last year at 24 years old I decided that I was tired of the workforce and made up my mind to enroll in college. In about three weeks I'll have my first year completed towards being a high school history teacher, and you have a hand in it. From time to time I'll have a week where I just don't have it all together in my head. It seems everytime I'm struggling with something, like clockwork you'll post a video about that very thing or something really close to it. Keep up the amazing content, and I hope you and Mama's dream continues to be as fruitful as your wisdom. See you on down the trail!

You’re right about that self discipline a lot of us out turnin up, sex, drugs, takin many fast lanes in life instead of puttin that aside n read the Bible, I cut out so much and got away from folks I ain’t gotta be around n been in the Bible readin n mediating more it’s a way better feelin than the typical bs that’s going on

Dewayne, you have made some spectacular videos in the past, but ... this one hit me deep in my core!!! I am the guy (+50) you describe in the beginning. I have everything I need and a little bit more, no problems or depts. My heart is beating strong, I am breathing, but I am not living. That is why my account picture says: "when ur dead inside but still want to brighten up other people's live". You made me cry, Dewayne!!! And now??? I guess I have some soul searching to do!

People would say I'm in that rut, except I budget so everyone in my family gets a little extra every paycheck. I've learned that having a lot only made us miserable so we simplified our lives. Now we appreciate all the little things in life like our kids laughter.
