Hybrid Closed Loop insulin pumps (sometimes called the artificial pancreas) are all over the news this week in the UK, because NICE have released a consultation draft of the Technology Appraisal they have been working on, TA10845, which aims to widen access to this amazing diabetes technology for people living with type 1 diabetes in the UK.
But what exactly is a Hybrid Closed Loop Insulin Pump? And what is it actually like to live with one? If you've never heard of any of this stuff it can be really confusing!
I made this short video for Diabetes UK a year for two ago when they were putting together a page on the subject, but in the end it was too long and waffly for their needs so they ended up just interviewing me for quotes.
However, this week's announcement seems a good time for it to finally see the light of day, so I've trimmed it a little to help prevent you expiring from boredom, and keep it down to 15 minutes.
Enjoy!
