It’s interesting how we can relate to others even when they come from very different backgrounds. When she mentioned being told she’d, “burn in hell” I immediately thought, “Oh, boy do I know how that feels.” I’m a practicing, believing Christian. I’m also a progressive Christian. Growing up though, especially in a small southern (US) town while attending Evangelical schools (two of which tried to expel me) & being gay wasn’t easy. I can’t tell you how often I’ve been told in person by people I knew, people I barely knew & of course online countless times how I’d “burn in hell”. I was also lucky enough to have survived the torment of gay conversion therapy. Funnily enough there were so many times when I’d talk about my faith with another Christian & then they’d realize I was gay & their faces would go blank with confusion. “Does not compute” 🤖 Because they’d always been taught it was a “choice” so how could I choose my faith & then “choose” to be with a man? I’d always have to explain to them “I chose my faith first. I didn’t realize I was gay until my teens & there’s no way in hell (pun intended) that was a choice”. It’s not easy being told you’ll “burn in hell” until you grow numb to it. I was lucky in one sense that my parents at least never thought that about me unlike Hannah’s dad. Regardless of the mistakes they made I love them & they accept me now. At the end of the day the only opinions that matter are yours & your loved ones. 🤷🏼‍♂️ ✌🏻

after you sit back and think about everything you realize alot I can relate too you alot beliefs doesn't prove reality many aren't ready for these conversations too many are far gone in religion no open minds, I'm glad I finally woke up from the nightmare from believing my whole life I thought it was life no other way around I preached and taught the gospel but after so long I started battling with my beliefs and so many questions nobody can answer all the doubts all the contradictions in the Bible and the beliefs and manipulations things that made totally no sense all the Religious abuse the guilt tripping and control and all the experiences you finally realize and accept that it was never for you and your content with how you think now and you finally feel free there is no true freedom in religion its mind control you always live in fear there is no escape you will always be in a constant battle about heaven and hell never made sense there is nothing wrong with us and our nature nobody will ever stop what they call sinning it's part of who we are nobody is perfect

Amazing testimony. Reading the bible led me out of religion. More than 99% Christians in my friends circle don't know who authored the originals of the bible. How the canonicalized books were chosen from a massive number of manuscript. Why there are so many different interpretations of the same books. How often it was modified until the version they are reading. If they knew it, many wouldn't even bother taking it seriously.

I highly respect this girl and I respect the Amish; they're like my most favorite people but I have to say that for me the whole Christianity thing falls apart because in my knowing of what (not who) God is. This young lady studies theology so she knows what I'm saying. Christianity is based on instilling fear for control and power of the Papal; it's all man made in order to control people. Back in the day religion WAS the government and you had to obey or die. With my spirituality there is no room for man made religion. I know there is no reason to fear God because we are ALL God and really can do no harm. We never die, although our physical bodies do. There is no sin (another man made belief) no devil no hell so there really is nothing to fear - this is a temporary facade we are living out in order to experience physical pleasures and pain. It's called spiritual growth. We are all one and there is no reason to hate anyone; what I do for others I do for myself. What I fail to do for others, I fail to do for myself. Forgive, love, and enjoy this short time we have here. God bless..

I follow no religion but I do have a few spiritual advisors (no psychics, or mediums or anything like that) I don't know if you heard of Neale Donald Walsch but he's a great man full of wisdom, look up a video of him and just give it a listen for about ten minutes and you'll understand where I'm coming from. He helped me through some tough times and without him I probably wouldn't be here typing this now. He showed me how to find my true self and also to find God, who I was searching for not knowing he was here the whole time but I wasn't listening. peace~

Why do you think God, Heaven, and Hell are real?

@@Beelzybud I know that God is real because of the change He has made in my life and heart. And no, I am not perfect. Nor have I lived a pain free life. I have messed up, and lost some precious things and people in my life. But in every low of my life, I have found God to be faithful inspite of what my circumstances said. If you read scripture with an open mind, you will see that God is all throughout history, and in every situation good and bad. I find it difficult to explain myself, in words that others understand who have never experienced the love and mercy of Jesus. I hope that one day, if you have not already found him, you will find Jesus. That you will seek him with all of your heart! When someone asks me how I know God is real, I want to ask them one question How do you know that gravity is real? How do you know that the wind is real? You can't see gravity. And you can't see wind. But just like you can see what both gravity and wind do, I can see what God has done for me personally, and what he is doing in other people's lives sometimes. I see him at work all over creation. One must believe that the Bible is the word of God, before one can see the world as his creation. Praying for you

@@hillhiker1468 in the Old testament, before Jesus came to die on the cross, people had the law to follow. When Jesus came and died and rose again, he brought in the law of grace. Grace is his unmerited favor. Something we do not deserve! Today we still live in the day of grace. But so many so many people, spurn the grace of God. Preferring to be popular, to go with the crowd, and to walk in their own wisdom. Just as in the days when the law was people's way of keeping their relationship with God free and clear, so in the day of grace God requires obedience to his word. Buy yourself a Bible, and read it. Start in the book of John. And see the love of Jesus.

No scripture was given . Scripture is what you debate with. If someone gives you the truth it is the truth regardless of who writ it when it was written. Holiness needs to be preached. The WHOLE purpose of Jesus Christ coming is so that we become HOLY PEOPLE . That is when I believe it comes to light when the Purpose is there. Have you actually read the book that you believe in? "Love", there is no love in the following examples of Yahweh/Jesus slaughtering babies and the unborn: by drowning in (Genesis 7: 22); burning to death in (Genesis 19: 24 ); putting to the sword in (1 Samuel 15:3 & Numbers 31: 17) and putting to death just to show off in (Exodus 11:5) by my moral standards I condemn these atrocities as objectively immoral and you call that "love". I guess 53 years wasn't long enough of begging crying at the alter week after month after year for God to help me be strong and get thru this life which has been absolutely horrific. Bible study upon Bible study but ppl like you tell us we are desperately wicked secretly inside. It's severe psychological abuse to tell a person it doesn't matter that they were raped for ten years by their own brother if it "bothered" them at all. My mother LITERALLY said to me, and I QUOTE because I'll NEVER forget her words to me when I collapsed crying and telling her finally when I was about 29 years old, " well if you had really met Jesus like your said you did when you were 18, this wouldn't be bothering you anymore" .... She actually believed me and could NOT have cared less! The asshole brother died with a heroes send off this past April after destroying his wife and taking the children in a divorce situation. I heard through the grapevine since I was cut off from the family the instant I told my devout Christian mother about my childhood abuse at his hands. I WAS EXCOMMUNICATED FROM MY FAMILY FOR DARING TO TELL HER THE TRUTH IN PRIVATE...So cram it. And no, I'm not an atheist, I still beg Jesus to be real to me day in and day out.

Yes. Its a shame that the message in Christian culture is if you believe in Jesus you're saved, but you have to do good or you'll lose your salvation. Complete contradiction, and not true. Your assurance of hell is based on the bible, but we dont know if there is a heaven or hell, but based on your belief and your faith in your belief and believing that everything in the book is true, you are basing your evidence on that. My thing is, lets say a 7yr old girl dies due to whatever reason, and lets ssy she was born and brought up in a muslim home, does that mean that she will go to hell because she didnt believe in the same God as you? Or if she is your neighbor and happens to ask you if she will go to heaven or hell what would you say? Because going with the basis of the bible, if you dont believe Christ is your Lord and saviour you to go hell right? Indoctrination is a messed up pyschological thing. Based on observation, most christians believes and have faith based on fear of hell. Some day you would do research, not research in the bible, on religion itself and you would seek answers

The bible says whoever leaves the faith were not really saved at all, or else they would of not left. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6) She is just fulfilling prophecy, in the last days there will be a falling away from the faith. Everyone is born a sinner, because of the fall of Adam and Eve they failed humanity. SO Jesus Christ had to come and die on a cross for our sins and rose 3 days later for our justification. She needs to not look at people around her for they are sinners just like everyone else. Fault finding is easy and not of God. Jesus said to love everyone, help one another, do good to those around you. Not everyone who calls themselves Christian's are true Christians. The Bibles says you will know them by their fruits (actions). The fruit of the spirit is (Galatians5:22,23) love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. The difference is some are forgiven, and truely repented. those who (endure) to the end shall be saved. There is no one sinless, or without sin. Compare yourself to Jesus Christ the one and only perfect being who ever lived. (Roman's 3:10) says as it is written, there is no one righteous , no not one, (Romans 3:23) says for all ha e sin and fallen short of the glory of God. (Roman's 5:8) says, God demonstrated his love in this, while we were still sinners Christ died for us.( Roman's 6:23 ) says, for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is everlasting life. Jesus was the only one who was perfect, he became a living sacrifice for our sins. No one else could of done it. Everyone has a free will to choose their destiny heaven or hell. No one makes you do anything, it's your Choice. If you love your sins then it's your choice along with the consequences on judgement day choose this day who you will serve. Weather you believe or not is irrelevant. He who the Son sets free is free indeed. There is only one truth and that is Jesus Christ the King of kings and Lord of lords. (Acts 4:12) there is no other name given to man under heaven by which you can be saved. Religion never saves anyone, it's a relationship with the one true God and Jesus Christ that does. The God of Abraham Issac and Jacob. The God of Moses. He who has the Son (Jesus Christ) has life, he who has not the Son does not have life. Not here to convince you, convict you or condemn you, just here to tell you the truth. What you do from here is up to you. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4) if you do not read, and obey Gods word. You backslide, end up spiritually dead and worse off than you came.. She has no foundation, she built her foundation on sandy ground, so, when all these problems of life and others come, or issues she is having personally, she cannot stand and has fallen, when she should of built her foundation on the solid rock, Jesus Christ. she should of cast all her cares, and burden on the Lord because he cares for her. So When problems come and go, you can still stand. Last days people, just look around the world chaos. JesusChrist said when the days are like the days of Noah, know that my return is near.at the door. We are definitely in Noah's time. God destroyed the world in Noah's time because of all the evil and corruption (Genesis 6) also destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of evil and corruption (Genesis 19) this time it will be by fire (2Peter 3:7). The world is reserved for fire for the ungodly and hypocrites. Bible is not written to scare you, its to warn you. And if you do not believe it, it's your choice, which leads to your consequences. (Revelation 20:11-15) then I saw a great white throne and him who was Seated on it the earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them and I saw the Dead Great and Small standing Before the Throne and books were opened another book was opened which is The Book of Life( the dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books) the sea gave up the Dead that were in it and death and Hades gave up the Dead that were in them (and each person was judged according to what they had done) then death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire, the Lake of Fire is the second death, (anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the Lake of Fire). The difference between the true gospel of Jesus Christ and false religion is prophecy. Gods word is being fulfilled with 100% accuracy. (Revelation 13:18)speaks about the vaccine billgates, is trying to force on everyone, vaccine code hr.6666 for covid. The destruction of Damascus in the near future. (Isaiah17) the battle of Gog and Magog, (Ezekiel 28,39) Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya, Sudan and the Muslim allies, all gather to attack Israel, but will lose because God fights for Israel. God is in control and is doing what he pleases. Look it up for yourselves, stop believing all the lies.fake news, false prophets, false people who do not have a clue, I know because I run into them every day, all day. Revelation talks about a one world government in the last days. But it will not last, because Jesus Christ the King of kings and Lord of lords is coming to Judge all the earth. (Revelation 19:11-21) I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse whose Rider is called faithful and true with Justice he judges and wages War his eyes are like blazing fire and on his head are many crowns he has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself he is dressed in a robe dipped in blood and his name is the word of God the armies of Heaven we're following him riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen white and clean coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the Nations he will rule them with an iron scepter he Treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God almighty on his robe and on his thigh he has this name written King of Kings and Lord of lords. and I saw an angel standing in the Sun who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in mid air, come gather together for the great supper of God so that you may eat the Flesh of Kings Generals in the mighty of horses and their Riders and the Flesh of all people free and slave Great and Small then I saw the Beast and the kings of the Earth and their armies gather together to wage war against the rider of the horse and his army but the Beast was captured and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf with these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the Beast and worship its image, the two of them were thrown alive into the fiery Lake of burning sulfur the rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse and all the birds Gorged themselves on their flesh.

The logic is right there in the very first sentence 🙄 ("The bible says" = a book says a thing, and everyone says the book is true - and it even says in the book that the book is true! - therefore, the thing the book says must also be true. 🙃 And I believe it, bc the book says I should - and so does everybody else who says the book is true! 👍)

In the Amish series, Hannah appeared conflicted to me. She was already a dissenting "Christian," as she was having sex with her boyfriend. Not surprised that she left Christianity. Hannah seems like a lightweight Karen Armstrong.

I don't blame people leaving christianity. People who has been or seeking "The truth" , they got caught up seeking it in "Christianity or religion" was a mistake not intentionally a mistake but probably was because 'people" are raised certain way believing a religion. I think, believing "the truth" is more important than "believing religion". Atheism is just a" state of mind" AND CHOICE NOT BELIEVE also called SKEPTISM , not believing in a creator because they can't see the creator or understand the supernatural. I don't blame you , i think the problem rooted from your foundation which was a lie or deception growing up and your circle of influence. The tree that doesn't bear good fruit becomes "fruitless" and eventually will die without a fruit unless is destroyed for not giving any fruit. When people become "atheist" , they have to study a lot , if they want to defend their position, otherwise , they will lose their sanity. Most people who are atheist listen or learn from other atheists. They listen to their " reasoning and philosophical methods of analyzing religion" . I debated with many atheists to understand their position and see if what they believe makes sense ....but so far they can't even prove .. i am wrong nor can prove there is a creator. it's almost adding 0 + 0+ 0 = 0 ...it's pointless. I rather believe something i can relate , understand , i can explain intelligently , i can feel, i can given justifiable reasons, reconciled my personal experiences with my creator and my 1,000 reasons to believe. @@emmaswain3084 i appreciate you reply. I do like to talk to atheists not to argue but learn from each other because i can have an intelligent conversation. I don't like to have conversations with religious fanatics because they don't like to use logical arguments. That's an issue for me. lol my worldview knowledge are not "issues", i call it knowledge. Knowing is priceless. whatever you believe in our mind and heart becomes your reality or your truth. It won't matter if you see the truth or not. People can still see the truth but make a choice not to believe in it. i see that a lot. I see things black and white as an attorney in Law but i also see logical arguments to discern the intentions and motives of the heart that "opinions" can't explain. People used their unreasonable and unjustifiable reasons or opinions to believe a lie. anyway, . So, you can only grow learning but the minute you stop , you will die because our brain needs constant learning to grow as a human being. Thank you for reaching out.
