Organic Christians base their faith on God and not on themselves or the community. When we trust in God alone, then our faith is strong and endures until the end.

Jovon, Judaism was monotheisr. Though I believe they did pick up pagan influences on occasion. But there have been other monotheist religions independent of Christianity (ex Zoroastrianism). Leaving Christianity is so complex. I decided to stop debating my wife and church leaders because I felt I was losing my only friends. I think theirs a science in keeping those relationships and its definitely been a humbling but gratifying experience. Listening to Jordan B Peterson lectures on the bible has helped ease the stress of wanting to argue. I now stick to praising healthy thinking and critic unhealthy or impractical practices in Christianity. That's what to expect from real friends no matter some differences. Beliefs are only one of the differences we have as humans and what about personalities, holy cow!

Albert, the great irony I found is that's good to have Christ-like patience with Christians and with yourself. They are only human, and it is human motivations that drive them to believe what they believe. Though it took me a few years after leaving Christianity to be able to say that. I had a lot of anger for a long time. Still do sometimes when I read comments that die hard fundies leave lol. But balance is the key. Just my opinion anyway.

I left Christianity over 20 years ago. My advice: Don't be afraid to question ANYTHING. Whether the source is Christian, atheist, whatever. Also, go easy on yourself and be willing to acknowledge that there are some things about Christianity that are admirable and that actually do work. Example: the social aspect, the sense of family and belonging, etc. There is a deep human need for belonging and I honestly respect that part of what Christianity gives people. But I eventually got to where there were too many doctrinal issues that I either disagreed with or became agnostic on. It just didn't make sense for me to keep calling myself a Christian. That is why I left. Believe me, I didn't want to and it was not easy at all.

I met my partner at a charismatic church about 4 years ago, we became friends and this evolved into a close intimate loving relationship. Once this was discovered by the church we went through hell! I was accused of influencing my partner into an abusive relationship, my past relationships were used against me, my partner was told she could dump me and they would stand by her...etc etc etc........ The whole thing has left us disappointed and hurt. Coinciding with this, I had been doubting, their pick and mix attitude to the Bible, disregarding so much and putting so much weight on what consenting adults do in private, watching various films on KZbin, and am happy and feel relief to say I no longer believe that there is any God looking over my shoulder, judging me or anyone else. It’s the hole though that it leaves in your life, so called friends no longer contact us, at least though we have each other.... We have been to the Unitarian church a couple of times but its nearly 100 mile round trip, I have also joined New Unity, the godless church in London via Zoom, thanks to the lockdown... I remain spiritual so does my partner, we will not though be seeking another church..... I am so happy Emma got through her ordeal, what she said resonated with me...My partner and I also feel to be victims of spiritual abuse. Kind regards Steve... Northern Scotland...

This first lady is way off. You only have to reconcile that those people who loved you and brought you to faith--were themselves lied to. Christianity completely reinterpreted "Jesus" (although he only turned into "Jesus less than 400 years ago; prior to then, there was no letter J) to suit the emperor Constantine's plans to have the faith unify this fractured empire. THAT is why you have Easter, not Passover. THAT is why the Sunday church model--instead of synagogue on Sabbath (Acts 15:20-21). Christianity has been constantly reinterpreted and repackaged so that it's just whatever someone wants at the time--hence 43,000+ denominations. And ain't a word of it true.

I now find myself in the process of Christian deconversion. It is a difficult and trying change ridding myself of long-cherished beliefs I've had for years. You talk about damage and harm, and I do experience that. Right now the difficulty for me is not getting really angry because I would just prefer to leave it behind and not have it affect me anymore in any way. I don't want it to destroy me any more than what has already been done. I wish I had help in this.

I would not be able to be grateful enough for any kind of information directed my way from any source or person that could shed some light on this particular predicament that affects many, including myself in a way in which I wish it was not able to. What I know now is still in the formative stages of fact-finding, having done research on cult deconversion/deprogramming which is not necessarily instructive to my situation because there are differences with that. In part why I am re-evaluating things in my life is that, I am getting more liberal with some things, like LGBTQ issues. I too left church because of its traditions, manipulations, ill teachings, fake superficial (self)loving people, powerlessness. I came from the occult and while reading the bible i quickly understood that God gave us back the divine power and love life Adam let go of: Christlikeness. Freely partaking of the divine nature again. Thats completely different than human churchservices, getting your blessings through tithing, having a ministry, serving the Lord, all suited up. In fact that is to be crying over. They don't know what they are doing. Most churches (pentecostals as well) have no clue what the Gospel is all about. So as i saw mankinds origin and destiny in Christ, the original blueprint of the normal divine life, words of knowledge came, healings happened, etc. The brutally beaten cruisified Christ gives us back the divine life of the ages because He so loves what He created us to be. Yay! Zoë = divine life in abundance. So for now i enjoy this new (yet old) godly life outside of churches. Its fun. It should be in church, but it can't be, so God goes around church. I know truth resonates within. Bless big time. Even if you do decide you had enough.

I have struggled with many things in my faith as a Christian over the years, with many ups and downs, mainly doubts that creep in and questions that I had to work through with the Lord's help. This is normal for believers. Especially for new believers who God hasn't yet revealed himself to in a more profound way. They don't understand how he teaches us and prunes us and how he speaks to us. When ever I had an issue with faith or scripture or anything really, If I just took the time to stop and really analyze things more deeply, looking at myself and all perspectives, pulling closer to Christ in prayer and seeking his knowledge, rather than pulling away, pretty much everytime I found that Im usually the one who was wrong or misinformed in my thinking and lacking knowledge or understanding in some way. Its almost always due to our lack of understanding or knowledge. This happens all the time when reading scripture for many people. I used to have issues before I really went deeper into understanding and studying scripture, history and theology in general. It takes time and the spirit will lead you if you truly seek him. I used to also get mad at the way other Christians acted until I was like, oh yeah they're not perfect Gods, they're flawed humans in a fallin world! My expectations were to high of believers and non believers. I used to get mad at people dieing but then I realized it's just part of life and Gods plan and those people who are in heaven are the ones who should really feel sorry for us. If you are a true believer and you're thinking about leaving the faith, I would urge you to take another look at your understanding of what ever you are dealing with and what ever you're lacking come to Christ and ask him for it. If he says no then look at your true intentions of why your asking. Is your heart in the right place. Are you seeking a relationship with God with everything you have or just here and there? Do you really believe? I couldnt imagine as a believer turning my back on God, knowing all that he has given me even in the trials, which I'm extremely thankful for now because of lessons he teaches me in them. Are you using God like your genie in a bottle or are you treating him like the lord over your life? These questions may help you if your honest with yourself. I hope and pray you stick it out until the end. Wrestle with your faith if you have to. Get muddy! Its not cookie cutter and always pretty. Persevere and cry out to the lord. I promise he is very real and there. Also talk to other elders in the faith! I'm praying for all of you and i pray that God reveals himself and his truth in your life! Speaking for most true believer, I can say we love you and want to see you have victory in faith and we want to be here for you and tell you all of the amazing things that God has done in our lives and how he's revealed himself to us. God loves everyone including you, this is why we never hear of people leaving their faith and being stuck down by lightening moments later, and we hear of atheists being very successful people. God allows all peoples (spiritual and not spiritual, christian and not christian) to enjoy their lives and achieve success. God has to allow everyone to have the same opportunities and experiences in this life so that He is fair and shows Himself as the true God. The early Christians & even modern day Christian missionaries even accept death rather than denounce the faith. The problem in Christianity is the expectations from the churches on the believer. Yes it is tough but the Christian Life is a journey. There is a lot of sacrifice done. Christ died to set us free. He will come back to take us all home. Christians be kind to fellow believers and lift one another. We don't want the great deception to draw believers or anyone else. The thing about Christianity is the that there is no apostasy for leaving the belief system. Also, it's a good thing to leave if you can't freely love a Good and a loving GOD with out feeling your being tied down . It's almost as if in any other relationship . You stay in it because, you have a covenant with the other . If you can't stay faithful, your better off leaving. Also, what these people say is that, it's disappointing the behaviour of how others treat you ect ..they actually don't live by what they believe in .. which is true , most people are carnal. . That can't leave their old ways .. but it is what it is .. we dealing with fallen nature of man. . see there's nothing you can expect from anyone here ..each one is called to serve the Lord. Every one is called to be a priest. . It's more like giving with out expecting anything. . When you cannot understand that concept, you await to be served and expects to receive from people not from GOD. . Yah , you do receive loving kindness, but you need to give that much as well .. this is tge way of the human nature. . Your called to be more than an ordinary human being in Christianity. . and to make it a walk of life .. you stay in it and practice being faithful in loving GOD first totally and likewise to love every one around you .. People are called to practice Love , peace, joy, happiness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, long suffering and self control at all times . If you cannot cultivate these attributes, then your better off you leaving the system. Go find some other thing to do .. Most people stay not because they're being tied down to it by fear as you think .. it's because they genuinely experience peace that passeth all understanding in the scripture they read of the person who's all mighty and loving. . Yah ,in it there are a few who don't know why on Earth they call them selves Christian and not do the things that they're called to do ..

It took me ten years to finally deconvert. If all I wanted was "autonomy" I wouldn't have taken that long to question things. You can't deal with the fact that not everybody has the same brain. I see things differently than you. You may see the bible as good, powerful, and loving while my brain sees it as outdated, flawed, and evil. I don't have a problem with people being Christians as long as they keep their certainty on a leash. But you have a problem with people rejecting your faith. How sad, we should be who we want to be and do what is required. I must admit being a christian is not easy. It is natural for someone to leave, it takes a lot of spiritual growth and work to make it work. We can pray something happens straight away, we can pray for something else and it will take years to come. I must say that i am sure it is worth the hard work. What is 80 years to billions of trillions of years. I will fight the fight and keep jogging on for this reason. I suggest you do the same.

Atheism teaches people to believe in people and people will fail us, our own families will fail us at times, and that is the best thing atheists offer. wow where to start, first of all let me say this, God loves you and understands all of you. but you will never find Him in a church building, if you have had any experience at all it was emotional, not Spiritual, well except for the evil spirits. God cannot lie, neither did He create division, therefore He cannot be someplace that perpatrates these things, He is Holy. He is truth. He is love. what you have left was in esscence mans religion, lifeless and unwholesome, I believe it was God who called you out of that stuff so you could find Him, and you will if you seek Him with all your heart. to find Him you need His presence, and that you wont find in what we have been led to believe is church. the falling away started 2k years ago, and through tradition has been kept alive, which is actually dead. He is very real and filled with life, and He means to give that life to you, through His son, who died that you might live. And because He defeated death you would live as well but only IN HIM. this is an experience you can have that changes everything. the days are short for His return, and God is moving especially for those who want Him. let me say this what you have experienced is NOT true christianity, take a close look at acts chap 2. all of the new testament was written to those who met house to house and had all things common. they shared thier lives together Daily, they prefered oneanother , they in truth Loved one another. there is so much more to this life please look into it.

Religion can never give you life. That's mankind's idea of how to get to God. A set of rules, regulations, and dogmas. Jesus Christ came so we could have "a relationship" with Him. (You don't have "religion" with your parents, you have a relationship). And so it is with The Lord Jesus Christ. To know Jesus you must first "repent", which means to have a change of heart and mind toward sin and self. And then you trust Jesus to become "born again". Once this happens then you have the Spirit of God living inside of you. Then and only then can you live the victorious life over sin and be righteous before God. It is totally a free gift and you don't have to work for it. Therefore, if the Son makes you free you will be free indeed.

People may think they are thriving and living happily outside there in the world. Yet "happiness" is based on your own happenings. The good news of the gospel is not about happiness but about "righteousness." "What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his own soul.? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" We don't like to think of our condition before God. Our conscience tells us, but we seek anything but the truth to justify our sinful ways. If we are honest we all have lied, stolen, sexually lusted, blasphemed God, dishonored parents etc... God's moral law. That is why Jesus came. He was the Lamb of God who lay His life down for us dying on a bloody cross to reconcile us back to God. He said, "It is finished" on the cross. Why? He paid the debt for all of us, because we are guilty as law breakers before God with no ability to conqueror the sinful nature we are born with. Only Jesus Christ can save us Trust in Him! There is no other message that can bring you life. No philosophy, or new age dogma can give the "born again" into the kingdom of God experience that Jesus so clearly spoke about. The gospels of Mark and Luke say similar statements "my daughter lies at the point of death" (in Mark). And in Luke, "she was dying". But Matthew is a different incident, there is no mention of Jairus by name. Also, in all 4 gospels there is mention of the tomb stone being rolled away....(Matthew 28; Luke 24; Mark 16; John 20) Finally, the first witnesses of the resurrection can be clarified. Mary Magdalene was the very first, (John 20:11-16) Then later it was Mary Magdalene again and the other Mary (the mother of James) (Matthew 28:1) When Mary told the apostles they did not believe her. But then Peter and John ran to the tomb, and John out ran him. Afterward Jesus walked along the road to Emmaus with 2 men. They didn't recognize Him until He broke bread with them and opened their eyes. No apparent problem with the gospels account of the witnesses to the resurrection. And no other glaring errors I can see..... What say you? Lol

It is all about mind wanting to fulfil desire, to avoid pain, to gain knowledge, etc. If God was so powerful we would not need bible or church to know him. We would be born with that knowledge. Humans created language from words. That is when the concepts of religion started. There was no word as Jesus, Allah, God, etc. Jesus said "I am." Did he say "I was." That door of "I am" is always as it is. But you have to know thyself. Are you your mind that has acquired all the knowledge, experience, etc or are you before your mind operates. Truth is not a goal to be lost and achieved. Only mind feels that classroom or pain is necessary to find the truth. Truth should be beyond space-time and same all the time no matter what mind says. It is like I can see Infinite space, infinite mind, Infinity as one, yet my my mind sees itself as separate self and based on it's knowledge and experience, decides it's own reality. Yet mind operates after "I am." So find out "I" that you call yourself and see where it leads you to.
