In this video I talk to you about my experience living with the cold dark winters of Northern Sweden. This is my first time living in such a harsh climate. My video was inspired by Jonna Jinton, an amazing and inspirational woman who has lived and documented her experiences of this beautiful land for 10 years.
Check out her video. • Living with the Dark W...
I have also started working on a website where I will share my story with you in more detail. On this site, you can expect to find tools that have helped me to transform my mindset and to find peace wherever I am. These tools shaped my mindset allowing me to make the move to come to Sweden. In the future I will provide the practical steps you need to make the move to Sweden, if that’s your desire. You can also expect access to my self-development book club and read my blogs and reflections. I look forward to sharing more with you.

Hey everyone, My name is Naomi Cave-Browne-Cave 👋
In summer 2020, amidst a global pandemic, My husband and I uprooted our lives in Central London and decided to move to Northern Sweden.
We were fed up of living on top of millions of other people in London, living out of one room in a flat shared with Naomi's parents, all whilst studying, working, creating KZbin content and launching our business.
So we bought a car, packed it full of our belongings, and drove nearly 3000km to Sweden with no idea where we were going to live.
So join us as we share and document our journey through film.
We are so pleased to share our journey with you and hope to build a community of people who can support one another and grow together.
Lots of love
Naomi

Jeez, Naomi, didn’t you just turn 25? Look at everything you’ve accomplished! Most people don’t get all that done in a lifetime. And look how much you’ve gotten done in the last 7 months. (Has it really been that long already? 😱) Everything works together. Don’t rush the process. Let it happen in the fullness of God’s time. 🙏🏽🤲🏽

There isn't any camera that can accurately capture what experiencing a big, lively and erratic aurora borealis feels like. It's otherworldly and such a deep spiritual sensation unlike nothing else you've experienced. It's totally unique. It's like you're all of a sudden connected to the entire universe and all those who walked the earth before you.
@NaomiandJack
@NaomiandJack 3 жыл бұрын
Wow, you described it so beautifully, a 'spiritual sensation' , I didn't have the words to describe it but, this is perfection. You are a born writer, thank you for sharing your experience with us ❤️
@Telindra

@@NaomiandJack glad I could help with putting it into words ❤ I still remember the first time I saw one, and what that did to me. It is a feeling that is so difficult to describe. No words. No photo, can really do it justice. But those of us, whom been lucky enough to have had the experience? I think we can draw forth what we felt when a close enough word is being used. Whenever I get the pleasure of seeing one, even the faint in color, earie ones. That only dances across the sky for a fleeting few moments. I can't help but feel connected to my ancestors. It's like the Aurora Borealis represents a spiritual bridge between the here and now, everything that's been, what is to come, and what lies beyond this mortal life.

I think she is on the right track, making such beautiful videos. She manages to visualize the beauty of living in the rural northern areas of Sweden in a very seductive way even convincing me that life in the dark nordic winter may be a gift. This video was so poetic and so good that now I just have to watch another one....

The Swedish winters for a British person can be brutal. Many of us get depression, our mood goes down. But, you will never appreciate the Spring and Summer more again. If you wonder why Swedes take all of July off on vacation, you will soon understand. The depression of December is replaced with the joy of July. This is why the Swedes are often on the top of the list of the Worlds happiest people. As a British man I have never before taken joy in seeing the first buds of Spring. The greenness of May/June/July. I am so looking forward to see your experiences of it ! :-)

"Yes, of course it hurts when buds are breaking. Why else would the springtime falter? Why would all our ardent longing bind itself in frozen, bitter pallor? After all, the bud was covered all the winter. What new thing is it that bursts and wears? Yes, of course it hurts when buds are breaking, hurts for that which grows and that which bars" /Karin Boye, famous swedish poet

So true. Being Swedish i can say i go through these feelings every year and I´m so grateful for the light and the sun returning. Life comes back to everything, animals give birth, nature awakens, and humans wake up from the dark winter, it´s almost like being re-born. We actually have a word for this time of the year, ”vår-vinter” (spring-winter) and i think all of us can relate to this. You see people everywhere just staring at the sky. Beautiful

With a heart of thanksgiving, we realize that no matter what we face, God is there for us. . Darkness is nothing, it's an old friend. I visits you more often in the winter. It means you no harm, it's not dangerous. It's just darkness, nothing more. Gorgeous scenery and I love your choice of music. I don’t know if I could handle the long darkness. I count the days until daylight savings time in USA to get the extra hour of light in the day. And every day since January 1, I’ve been counting the minutes that I have more light each day. I just feel so tired and lonely in the darkness even though I have people around me.I guess because it’s cold and snowy so I feel stuck in and just want sunshine and grass under my feet. But I’m glad you are enjoying your new experience.

Aw I can totally relate, there is a loneliness to winter, I found I purposefully hibernated from people which was actually so helpful and also lonely! It is tricky! Being outside when it’s light definitely helps and it’s been fun exploring the winter spots. Which part of the USA are you from?

You certainly have got your share of winter. Here in the southern Sweden also got snow for the first time in eight years! But it's quickly melting away and snowdrops and other spring flowers pop up.

I've lived in the north of Sweden all my life and to fight the winter depression vitamin D boosters are a must. Since the sun can give you Vitamin D you have to get it from food, pills or any other source.
