M.L. Soll see, I love this. I decided ages ago to make sure my kid had the bigger space, because she has far more toys than I do. I also made sure to let her personality reflect in every room in the house. Every shelf holds some of her things. Her 3 year old art shares wall real estate with the rest of the wall art. And every room has a kidzone. It’s not cluttered or chaotic or anything. It’s harmonized specifically to reflect the two of us. We both live here. We both deserve to feel like we are home ❤️

@@ChewFingers To be fair I think many families living in these houses never intend it to be permanent. It's often something they do as an adventure for a few years and then move on to something else. Although as others have pointed out, these homes aren't actually particularly small by any kind of normal international standard.

There is nothing out there that you can buy and renovate for $35k (especially these days. You'd have to go OLD and/or craptastic to get something cheap enough to have room for renovations) that would come close to what she built. Even if you spent the money to completely gut and put new exterior and interior - the walls would be half as thick with half the supports. It's no comparison. Not to mention, she purchased all those materials and built it in California. You could probably replicate it for about 3/4 the cost or less in the midwest somewhere. She did a great job, and has a house built 10x better than anything you can get manufactured, plus it's customized how they like it :) Start browsing online and see what you come up with, keep in mind how much renovations will cost, and then see what kind of home you end up with for $35k. Ok, at first I was thinking this was just another run of the mill tiny house. But then I saw how she designed it to be able to stand at their closets next to their beds and have nice, private, actual bedrooms. Her daughter even has room for company in her room! Made me wonder why the heck more ppl don't enclose their lofts? I think she was lucky that her dad is a contractor with land to build on, so she could really take her time and design it to their needs. I also love how secure the stairways are, with walls on each side. I always feel like ppl could easily fall from stairways in other tiny homes that don't even have banisters. This was very well worth watching!

I love this tiny home so much, I came back to watch this again after a year and I just had to rave about it some more! Ideally, I'm very much a minimalist, so the thought of collecting *anything* rubs me the wrong way. In fact, getting rid of clutter and paring things down to a minimum is one of my motivations for wanting a tiny home. HOWEVER, I am SO IMPRESSED with how neatly they do their collecting! I love how they can just close their little collections away into nice, neat air tight drawers. The glass makes is a nice display case and also keeps it from getting dusty. I couldn't stand all the trinkets at my mother's house because all they did was take up space, look cluttered, and collect dust! But this shan't happen here. Just... bravo!!

This woman is incredible. Mad respect to her. The way she designed this home to prioritize her teenage daughter's needs, yet not forgetting her own, is commendable. Also, making room for things they don't necesarily need but actually love, instead of getting rid of everything and go full minimal, is such a refreshing input into tiny living. Just because your space is small, it doesn't have to be completely empty to feel spacious. Lastly, Katie, girl, you are absolutely awesome. Love your posters (specially the Jacob one, I had that same picture on the ceiling above my bed when I was 15 too), and love your pop dolls too. I wish my room was that cool.

This is no less than A REAL HOUSE. They've got separate bedrooms, lots of privacy and ample space. Love how she gave her daughter such a spacious room, and a vanity area too! SO DAMN COOL. They're artistic, but haven't overdone the colours or decor. Not an iota of space has been wasted. What sets this house apart is the fact that they can manage to stand in a tiny bedroom. I also noticed a full length mirror, which I find lacking in other trailer houses. She's so right about giving living room more area. Their bathroom is amazing too. This is real example of living big in a tiny house. I'm proud of you guys!
@personal_playlist94666 жыл бұрын
Netta Johnson you're right. I've seen enough tiny houses and the main reason these people choose to live this way is because they can't afford a house. They're under debts and have children to feed. For them, tiny house living becomes a necessity. And you know what? These so called tiny houses are in most cases bigger than what people pay huge rents for in big cities!
@alisonshanahan95296 жыл бұрын
@@barnettajohnsonthepancakem3792 I totally agree, there are UTube videos of people who live in their car because they can't afford to pay rent. They have a gym membership so they can shower. They work full time in office jobs, but it's not enough for them to get a place. They are young, under 30, probably have school debts, and are close to being homeless. If they can afford to buy a bus or van and do it up, then I am all for it. The less debt they incur, the less they have to repay, and these days, the cost of schooling is sky high, more than most mortgages. The ones who travel around are the ones who work online or who have mobile jobs. The majority only travel in the holidays. Some cities are beginning to think about the homeless and are building tiny homes for them. A community, so they are not isolated. I am in Australia, I lived in NJ in the mid 70s, I am horrified by how run down the US has become. I was in Hawaii in 1992, then 2013. 1992 was typical American, 2013 was a real shock, homeless people everywhere, all the big hotels owned by Japanese. Very little American food anywhere, no diners anymore. I know Trump is not popular in the US media but he's very popular outside the US, as someone who is actually improving the US economy and getting the US government working, whether they are paid or not. That was one of the things that came out about the US government that horrified Australians. The fact that US government departments would shut down and walk away from their jobs when they had no money to give out. WTF. Our government departments almost never have money to give out, but that doesn't mean they give up! The job still has to be done.... You learn to be creative and bargain! Goodness what a bunch of losers! They really needed Donald Trump to kick them up the arse and tell them to get on with the job. They were still getting paid for sitting at home! Idiots.

This is why all the gawkers who only know how to conform to the lies of the rich, that they can never own a home, Shalina has cut that lie off at the knee... YESSSSSS, she did!!! A house can be called anything, but it is all about what one wants to be in their plans, and set about making it to come to pass!! I definitely will not be on the grid! Many didn't care when I was raising my kids, didn't care if we lived or died, I just wanted my kids to grow up and move on. So now I don't need the grid!!!! See to keep the people slaves to the grid, alternative life choices are not promoted or taught in the schools! Being the cause if one cannot cope with the slave life or do not conform to it, one most likely will end up on the streets, left and by many hoped to fall straight down through the cracks of the sewers! Now how is it her problem that there are so many vacant places or homeless people or greedy people when in fact - this is the exact reason she built this tiny house in the first place. It's all the special things that you collect through out your life that mean something to you. Having a special place for those items the way they have them displayed here was magical to me. I love the stained glass that went from the bathroom to mothers room. It reminds me of the old transcend windows they used to put above doors in old homes. I'm really in love with this home!

I am in love with this design. I particularly love how this woman has found a way to combine a tiny space built with reclaimed materials while also keeping such functionality and, of course, style (the house is gorgeous). So many clever features! I think this is definitely my favorite video of yours so far. Thank you!

This tiny house is gorgeous. I haven't seen one that looks this big inside. And the mother/daughter living in this space warms my heart ❤️

The most beautiful tiny house on wheels that i have ever seen. Mom looks really shy on this video but she should be more relaxed because this house is just stunning. All those hidden spaces are so clever. One day ill build for my family something similar. Wishes from UK

This is one of the best tiny houses I've seen. Not only is it well-designed in terms of space, but it is beautiful and not at all stark or cold. There is a level of warmth, comfort, individuality, and coziness to this project that is unusual and truly good. I like that the homeowner built the home herself, on a budget, using reclaimed materials, her dad's tools, and that she also grew in the process. This is a great success, especially the fact that she overcame her fear of spiders, LOL. If I ever do a tiny home build, I will have to overcome my fear of centipedes. Ha ha.

Wow, impressive woman and extremely thoughtful mum! I struggle to even put together DIY furniture so WOW. This feels a lot like a proper home and I love that they've maintained some semblance of privacy - so important for a teen. I'd buy into something like this, though I'd aim for more windows and natural light, skylights especially in the bedroom else I'd get claustrophobic. Less furnishings as I'm not into knickknacks so would have more space. But those are just personal preferences - I'm in awe of this superwoman.
