I would mention live local jazz music in clubs like C Grace and Watts & Ward. Many of the musicians come from New York, Boston, and Durham.

I moved to dtr from Sanford, and what a change. I live in a secure apartment right across from the main bus station. I have given up my car and all those expenses, but I can get to almost any place I need to go by a free bus because I am over65. There are over 50 restaurants within a 5 block walking area so I can go to a different restaurant each week for a year. Just about every weekend there is some event at city plaza for me to enjoy. This weekend it was Galaxycon at the civic center. All the museums are within walking distance. I had a lot of churches to choose from after leaving my church in Sanford and after 5 visits I have found a church that suits me in most ways. All-in-all, I find living in downtown Raleigh enjoyable, convenient and not overly expensive. The one item I miss is a closeby general grocery store, so I have to take the bus and am limited in how much I can buy on any particular trip. Which means more trips than I like to keep my larder filled. But overall, I really like living here.

The Oakwood cemetery in Historic Oakwood neighborhood is a must visit. A lot of fascinating history and a beautiful place

Absolutely agree. We put it in our “Most Haunted Places in Raleigh” video last year

I found your video to be to the point and it should help potential Downtown Raleigh residents maintain realistic expectations prior to their move. I think that Downtown Raleigh is currently in-between transformation stages that could catapult our center to the next level. There will still be a lot of work to do, but some of the perceptions will change, if the known projects materialize within the next 5-6 years. Connecting Glenwood South, The Warehouse District and the CBD to the point that walking from one district to another will feel seamless, is very crucial, with the area between Salisbury Str and Dawson Str being the key. Keep up the good work!!!

Downtown Raleigh roads are not confusing. Cary, well that's another story. For a casual dinner, I love 5 Star.

Downtown Raleigh roads are extremely confusing, especially for people new to the area and people who are used to driving on a grid road pattern. Probably one of the top complaints we here from many people we help relocate to the area.

Love your videos Chris! Another pro of living in DTR: easy access to the many festivals and events held downtown like this past weekend's Artsplosure. (That also means road closures and crowds which I guess some would see as a con as well.)

Yes, that's a great point. Forgot that was happening this weekend, but it explains why the traffic and parking was so bad down that way!
