Most of the "old Bosnians" were Croats, who were subject to the Ottoman Turkish Devshirme practice ( the blood tax or child levy) by the Ottoman Turks. Small Christian children were taken from their families and converted.

One of the biggest Bosnian feudal landowners was Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić (1350 to 1416). Hrvatinić was a Duke of Split and a Grand Duke of Bosnia. He minted coins in the town of Split that read: Dux Spaleti, Dalmatie Croatieque regius viceregens ac Bosne supremus vojvoda.

Regarding the war, it is important that we do not decontextualize crimes and events. There is no equivalency between individual instances of war crimes and systematic crimes against humanity. The "all sides did it" discourse is revisionism. There's a huge difference between crimes committed by individuals and crimes that are systemically planned. Bosnian Serb and Bosnian Croat separatist forces committed systemically planned war crimes. The Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not commit any systemically planned crimes. For decades now, there has been a trend and tendancy to lump everything together, which is exactly what war criminals and their supporters have been doing for years, even decades, trying to relativize everything until it loses its true context and hence meaning.

Bosnia unilaterally & illegally declared independence because they refused to live with Serbs. But when Serbs refused to live with them, they did everything in their power to trigger a war to force serbs to live with them including killing a Serbian man at his wedding in Sarajevo... Truly a lovely bunch , same people who converted to Islam and abandoned their faith & roots at the drop off a hat for privileges and better living standards..
@tarik6990 Жыл бұрын
@@economist898 You have a twisted and extremely selective view of reality. No, Bosnia-Herzegovina did not unilaterally let alone illegally declared independence, neither did all the other republics within Yugoslavia who also declared their independence. If Bosniaks refused to live with Serbs, why weren't Serbs barred from voting in the 1992 independence referendum? Instead it was the Serbian criminal leaders most of whom were later convicted of war crimes and genocide who convinced a large number of Serbs not to vote in the referendum only to then complain about the outcome later on. When you create a situation yourself, you forfeit the right to complain about the outcome afterwards. To this day, Serbs remain the only ethnic group in the history of the world who began butchering people when a referendum outcome didn’t go their way, what a proud achievement! The war was planned in Belgrade years before that infamous wedding murder which didn't change anything as the war would have happened either way. You conveniently "forgot" to mention that in late 1991, 4 Bosniaks were murdered by Serbs in Eastern Bosnia well before that wedding murder just like you forgot to mention what happened on January 9, 1992, a full 3 months before the beginning of the war and a full 2 months before that wedding murder. No war has ever started because of a wedding murder, least of all the Bosnian war.

@@soul8938 thats because of propaganda. I have nothing against Serbia or the Serbian people, on the contrary, my grandmothers family, and by extension me, is part serbian. I do not deny it. Ive just never understood how someone can live in a land known as Bosnia, be of Bosnian decent, their whole family is from Bosnia and somehow they identify as Serbian based on their religion. im not talking about Janos, but the people in republika srpska. If youre genuinely from Serbia then youre serbian but if youre just the same faith as the Serbs, youre not serbian. That would mean by extension that all turks, and other muslims in non muslim countries are arabs. Makes no sense, right? I believe religion should not interfere with politics and should not be a deciding factor in someones religion. Ive got an Macedonian relative that was orthodox christian their whole life and converted to Islam but theyre still Macedonian, not Albanian or Bosnian. Nowhere else in the world does your religion decide which nationality you are. Thank you.
@soul8938 Жыл бұрын
@@alienalloy604 I partially understand your argument im albanian but with croatians bosnians and serbs most people agree that they’re the same „ethnicity“ and the only differentiating factor is their „culture“ politics and faith now of course if they decide to convert to another religion they’d still have the same ancestry and „nationality“ but lets be real here that isn’t a common thing. And as for your example that doesn’t really work due to a macedonian slav having a way different culture language etc from an albanian whereas serbo croatian and bosnian are basically the same language and transition would be seemless

As my Grandfather that still lives today told me. "Rat nikad nije pomogao,i braca se bore protive sebe" (War Never is a good thing,and brothers fight each other) What was once a Neutral Communist Country turned one another after it fell from Tito's Death. Yugoslavia was the best thing it could happen to the many countries that were together. Sadly the Act of Balance was done by the old man possible,and his death gave way to the chain of events that had happened. I loved my Country as Bosnia and grew up in it too,but living in Germany and see still unbalance in Bosnia makes me sad. I never agreed to the War,Nor was my Family,and it brought nothing as all sides lost and nobody won. Until Bosnia is fixed its issues and joined the EU (that would be quite the challenge) to quit each others Hate and Corruption I shall remain in Germany to improve my life that has been broken by the War,By the People,By the Brothers who we trust. I forgive each and everyone,but I will never forget,it hurts staying in Bosnia where Memories are still around.
